Visited from out of town and found this awesome pole studio. Signed up for an intermediate class with Daphna and she was amazing. She made me feel so welcome. I absolutely loved her teaching style. Had us all warm up together and prepped us for the move that we were working on for the class. I wish we would've been able to work on more moves, but nonetheless, such a great class. The way she explained everything and broke things down was very helpful. I'll admit I never liked working on the particular move we focused on for the class when I was at my other studio, but she made it seem doable. Thank you!! Very clean studio and it felt very spacious Only critique I have about the studio is responsiveness; I reached out via email and IG to ask a question about the class but didn't get a response.

I took Pole 1 (beginner's class) on a Friday night with Julia. The studio is located above a Popeyes, I love the smell of their biscuits and walking up the stairwell to the studio that is all you can smell :) As soon as you enter, there is a small front desk to check in. The studio is very clean, there are two rooms, one with poles and the other with mats. The Pole 1 class is inside the room with the poles. Julia's class starts out with a warm up on the mats. After warm up, you are taught a simple routine step by step, everyone in the class was so welcoming that I didn't feel as intimidated as I thought I would. I was nervous about taking the class since I have zero experience. Julia walked around to each student to give tips on how to get through the routine. I really loved the class and I definitely plan on returning and improving :) If you are looking for a unique workout, I highly recommend this studio. I was sore for days, you really are working out your entire body!

I love this establishment. Devon is a great instructor and she is the owner. I just recently signed up to become a member. I love how positive she is and she works with you in the classes. I decided to take pole classes for fun to try, but let me tell you! It's a workout!

Are you looking for an unique way to spend time with friends? Whether it's a birthday, bridal shower, or a random "celebrating us" night.... you've found your place. Yeah drinks at the bar or dinner out is tried and true....but let's dare to be different. Now for my conservative ladies, don't be shy. This experience may unleash the inner you - you didn't know existed. You may find that rhythm, dance move or freedom within you've been looking for. Now listen: follow the rules. No "pregame" before you come, you can always have drinks later at a local watering hole. This pole dancing lesson is not only fun, but it is a workout. You will feel it the next day or three. Trust me. Also, this experience is for everyone with all shapes and sizes. Wear shorts if you can; that allows for a better grip on the pole. Not capris or tights. ..shorts. For this event I booked a private session where 9 of us could have a personal experience. Our instructor played great music, taught us how to high step, chair dance, and pole dance with some aerial pole moves for those who felt adventurous. Everyone had an amazing time. I brought tiny sandwiches and water for afterwards. They provided a table for my setup. You'll want to at least bring water. Ok last hint, remember it's DC. Parking is not the easiest so plan accordingly or ride share. Oh, sorry. Last last hint. Have FUN!

One class and you're Vegas ready. Strap on your stilettos and get to werk. Pole Pressure is HILARIOUS. And so much fun. The most fun bachelorette party of which I was a part decided that pole dancing MUST be part of our fun weekend. And at first, I was a skeptic. I don't know how to pop lock and drop it. Twerking is definitely out of my league. Pole dancing was going to be a travesty. But wait! We were prudently informed by Pole Prossure associates that the first half hour of the class is for "socializing." Aka, drink up. And so I imbibed, generously. Not doing so was simply not an option. We took to the pole. We straddled an innocent looking folding chair. We sashayed and twirled and booty popped. Our instructor had endless energy and encouraged entire party that we had what it took to be a pole dancer, for our entire hour class. Then came the pole dance off. Naturally, I forgot all my choreographed moves and ended up flaunting only the most rudimentary moves. The other team, conversely, had killer moves fit for a Fast and the Furious movie. They owned the poles. For our party, it was $18 plus tip. TOTALLY worth it. However, leave the feather boas at home. Apparently they shed too much for Pole Pressure's liking.

I planned a bachelorette party for my friend and decided to throw in a pole dancing class. This was the best idea I could have had. Devon was great at answering my questions and they followed up with me several times and let us know what all that was needed for the class. The class was amazing and fun. Our instructor Andrew was great. We had the best time at the studio and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Thank you for making the bachelorette party fun.

I found DivaDance in a random Google search of dance classes in the area, and my expectations have been absolutely surpassed in every sense. DivaDance is such a wonderful community, and every class is such a comfortable and judgement free zone (which is important when you are throwing it down and shamelessly trying new moves & choreo). DivaDance has been amazing for my work-life balance, and for pushing my homebody self to step away from my computer, get moving / trick my body into exercising, and meet new people!! As a side note, DivaDance classes always feature really amazing & wonderful women, as a woman in STEM I don't see a small number in my daily life, so dance has always been my favorite way to meet more diverse sets of people, and DivaDance has certainly been a great source of this in my life since they value empowerment and confidence.

Fast forward to 2023, I'm a 34-year-old 240lb MAN, and I decided to tap back into myself by spontaneously enrolling into a drop-in ballet class on a random cold Tuesday night, and I'm glad i did! The venue is clean and the staff is friendly and inclusive. The instructor, Rachel, was great. The class was packed and for all levels, but Rachel created an environment that made me feel comfortable and took all my nervousness (and low key embarrassment) away. i enjoyed it so much that i took my (clearly out of shape) behind to her Modern Dance class immediately after. And I paid for it... i was sore for days. It felt GREAT! :) Although both classes were for All Levels, I would've appreciated if the instructor showed movements full out instead of marking the steps and throwing us newbies to the wolves. Also I would love for Joy of Motion in general to host more adult beginning-level ballet classes or a flexibility, conditioning, and strengthening class using ballet techniques. Joy of Motion is a beautiful venue conveniently located in the up-and-coming H Street corridor. Overall, I had an amazing first-time experience and i will certainly return.

I had to ding the studio a star both because it was freezing cold in the studio and because it smelled awful when I entered.
