I learned so many new things and got in a great workout! My one piece of advice would be to bring a towel and a water bottle because you will work up a sweat! If you are new to pole, I highly recommend trying a class at Vertical Dance. It's an excellent way to build strength and confidence. I can't wait for the next time I'm back in the area and can attend a class.

My daughter has taken jazz, contemporary, and Horton classes, but her favorite is classical ballet. In addition to class, my daughter has been able to participate in fashion shows for Lord & Taylor, a dance competition and annual trips to see the Alvin Ailey Dance Company perform at the Kennedy Center. The end of year recital is a very professional production at the Bowie Performing Arts Center, with beautiful costumes and moving music. In addition, parents are friendly and committed. You can't watch your daughter's practices, you can't take pictures, you can't have a life that exists outside of your own little ballet world. Of all the time, effort and money spent for just that one show, my daughter was only on stage 15 seconds out of the 3 hours. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I cannot fathom why you would do that to her. I gave up (almost) an entire weekend and spent $80 for tickets for my daughter and she, my family and I only got 15 seconds on stage total. Unbelievable! She is excited to go every week and often wants to stay for the ballet/tap combo class after. Birthday party: What a deal!!! Very reasonably priced. They provided pizza and juice boxes, but we were also allowed to bring in food. We did a gymnastics only party and the kids, ages 18 months to 9 years old didn't want to leave the room! The party host from the studio, was awesome. She spent time with all the age groups and made sure to interact with each child as well. Even some of the adults got in on the fun and she talked with us and laughed at our silliness. My husband, who didn't initially want to pay to have a party outside our home, left saying how easy it was and he would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It was nice to arrive, be present at the party instead of running all over while hosting at our house, enjoy our friends and family, and leave. I had mentioned to Maria, the studio receptionist, that my daughter had a new found love of Peppa Pig and they went above and beyond putting Peppa Pig heads on the balloons, the plates, table and a banner. I mean, I get it this shouldn't be the norm and parents should watch from outside but for someone doing the first class ever, maybe be a little bit more flexible wouldn't hurt. So they are not having me as a client and we are going somewhere else who can be more flexible with small kids who are just starting.
