We turned around 30 minutes in walking with our Aussie dog. But we got to the end of the dam and it was beautiful! We hiked the first weekend of January so some parts was a little muddy. But it wasn't too bad. The only thing I wished this park had was running toilets. I believe it was only an outdoor porta potty. But then again, we didn't do the entire trail, so I might be wrong. Parking is $3/car for in-state (Maryland) cars and $5/car for out-of-state.

The trail is well-worn, gravel, mud, dirt, lots of tree roots, moss and great little foot bridges here there. The path peeks out of the woods for a view of the lake only two or three times. There isn't really any shoreline but I'm not sure I'd swim or wade in this lake. Anyways, I'm reviewing the trail here, since I'm not much of a watercraft or fishing person. We did see kayaks and canoes out on the lake. The small parking lot is new, and we assume so is the fully equipped washroom/toilet building. Fresh water is available from a dispenser there. Nice! Zero shade for parked cars though, which I've always thought was weird in any car park. There are extra long and easy park spots for trailering. There's a small boat launch and dock. Locals suggested we use the trail between May and October, but to beware of the usual forest nasties like ticks, horseflies, mozzys and other biting critters and snakes. We saw lots of tiny frogs, turtles, birds and squirrels. We went on a Sunday and crossed paths with 3 cyclists, 4 pedestrians, 2 dogs and horse prints along the trail. Dogs are allowed on leash. The trail was super clean, no litter or dog poop along the way. Loved the hike! Took us about 2h45min to complete the loop. Bring your debit/credit card for the automated entry gate: $5 out of state, and $3 in state. Worth it!!!

I would like to express my displeasure with the Wise Pool & Spa company for pool opening service…read more5/19/2021. Upon arriving home to check out the pool, I noticed that it was extremely dirty inside. There was dirt on the steps and some miscellaneous debris inside the pool I noticed my pool vacuum was running along the inside of pool. This was very disturbing and I called the office of Wise Pool but they were closed for the evening so I made several attempts the following day until I finally got someone to take my call. That person identified himself as "Mike"... I shared with Mike why I was calling and I asked what service did he perform for $350 Mike replied - We remove the cover and "clean" and install stairs, railing, chemicals. I asked what did he clean and he said the pool cover! I replied that is not what I assumed I was paying for. The goal was to not have to go through the process of having to clean up the pool from the off season and drain the pool to the appropriate level, clean, remover dirt debris, add chemicals and repair or recommend repairs if my system doesn't meet all check points. Mike replied - We don't do that. It would take up too much time. I could see no more than 6 or 7 people a day and I'm way too busy. I shared with Mike that I had experience with pool service competitors that have opened multiple pools and their service programs include scrub the tiles, sides, steps, floor and vacuum pool in addition to adding chemicals and equipment check. Mike again stated that he doesn't do that because it takes up too much time and sorry for the misunderstanding. I told Mike had I known that I was paying for Wise Pool & spas (he) to remove my cover and add chemicals that I would had solicited a couple neighbors to help perform those few things. His comment to that was well what do you do for maintenance? I replied, I perform my weekly chemical checks & cleaning but that I did not want to open or close the pool and that's why I called on Wise pool & spa to perform it. Again, Mike's only reply was "sorry for the misunderstanding". There are a couple things I find wrong with my conversation with Mike of Wise Pool & spa and those are - 1. There was no attempt made to ensure my satisfaction from the clear lack of service performance that I had received for his rate of $350 for Pool Opening. Only "sorry for the misunderstanding" 2. I have mesh pool cover that is roughly 20' x 35' in dimension and I had taken my leaf blower and cleaned it off the evening prior to my scheduled appointment that they did not call to confirm as they promised. My spouse called that morning to check to see if they were still coming after multiple calls only to get their answering machine. Finally someone answered the sales line and verified our service was still scheduled. 3. Third, based on the dimension of my pool cover, I don't know where Mike could have "cleaned it" as he said he did because I don't have the lay down area around the pool decking to accommodate laying it out flat to clean but then again, I don't know what Mike's - Wise Pool & spa definition of "cleaning" is... There was no evidence that it was laid out in the yard so curious what cleaning occurred. In closing - we decided to use Wise Pool to open our pool this season because we had purchased a new pool vacuum and other products a few years ago from them and they relocated from their former location to less than 5 minutes from our home so we wanted to support them further but after the poor performance in field service and the difficulty reaching anyone by phone even when there are 3 to 4 employees cars parked daily when you pass by their office, we will move on and give our business to a local competitor. Highly recommend!! I love this Club Pilates located in California, Maryland. Been a member here…read moresince 2020. All the instructors are very experienced and each brings a unique work out every time. No one work out is the same. The instructors are very helpful and will give you alternate moves if you have a problem with any certain body parts. My favorites are flow and center and balance. This is a great way to get yourself in shape and toned without much risk to injury. I usually take a 1.0 or 1.5 class. If the 1.5 is a little tough, you can adjust to your own fitness level and instructors are great at observing if you are struggling and will give you tips on adjusting the moves to meet your level so you can keep up. They will also give you more challenging options as well if you are able. There is never any pressure or embarrassment if you struggle. Unique thing about Club Pilates is it is good for all age ranges. I'd like to say I have a favorite instructor, but they are all excellent and each brings their own unique style to the table. I frequent Sherry, Kerry and Andrea's classes because they have timeslots that fit my schedule. Sherry's flow 1.0 class is one if my favorites. She works a little tai chi in at the end of each class and offers great stretching, strength training and helps you work those teeny little muscles you didn't know you had. I have pain in my lower back, but her class really improved my condition and I don't have the pain that I used to have when I sit down and stand up. I walk out of there feeling energized and stretched with a slight ache in my muscles --but the good kind that help you know you are toning and gaining strength. Andrea's classes are awesome. She is very skilled at ensuring you're applying the proper technique and excellent at communicating the moves. She keeps the lights on so she can see that you are applying proper form and working the correct muscles. Some people complain about the ceiling lights, but I appreciate them for the reason she is keeping them on. I just close my eyes when I'm laying down on the reformer table. Her instructions are so clear you don't need to watch her. I really appreciate her style because I feel it's important to ensure you're working the muscles as intended in her workouts. Kerry is another of my favorites. she makes her workouts fun. She's bubbly and funny. She too is great at communicating the moves and ensuring you are using the right form. Kerry really challenges me and I walk out of her class feeling awesome and too with a slight muscle ache that helps me know my workout was effective. I also feel really stretched and refreshed after her classes. Bottom line... Every instructor I've ever had at Club Pilates has been top-notch. you're always greeted with the smiling happy face when you arrive and you leave feeling great.

We selected Blue Haven Pools out of the three companies that we received bids from and we are so…read morehappy that we did! From the sales experience with Pete C to the construction PMs, Nate and Ryan, as well as Jamie in the office, every person with whom we interacted was professional, caring, and great at their jobs. But let me start from the beginning. We did not plan this for years, think out every feature we wanted, and meticulously go through the process. Instead, we decided in late February, "hey, let's get a pool" and reached out to 3 local companies (one is a BIG national company, the other a small local company, and the third was Blue Haven--locally owned, but with the big national name). From the beginning, Pete C, Blue Haven's sales person was the MOST responsive, most available, and easiest to communicate with of all the salespeople. He came out within a day of our call to walk the property (nobody else was that fast!), shared ideas, listened to us (even though we didn't really know what we wanted, except NOT the most expensive pool ever!), and worked with our budget. Our yard isn't large..just over a quarter acre, and my goal was "most swimming space possible" so we went with a 14' by 30' rectangle, no sun shelf, 3.5-6 feet deep, sheer descent at the far end and all standard selections except the plaster (Quartzscapes Aruba Sky). Everything was selected at contract time, but if I had to do it again, I would take more time with those selections and make sure I had samples in my hand for a few days to compare. We signed our contract on March 8th, permits were requested on March 11 and weren't received from our county until April 22 (!!). With permits in hand on April 22, Blue Haven's team (and I mean team! The VP, Tyler, the PMs, Nate and Ryan, and Sales Guy, Pete,) all arrived three days later to walk the property, confirm the design done at the Blue Haven offices, and rope off the pool space. They were fast, confidence-inspiring, fun and friendly...that's one thing about Blue Haven, we genuinely LIKED every person with whom we came in contact from the company. Construction started 4/29 with the big dig--no rocks were found, so we won the lottery on that front! Things progressed quickly after that: steel on 5/2-3, plumbing on 5/7, Gunite on 5/13, equipment delivered and installed on 5/20, electrical complete on 5/21, tile and coping on 5/28, patio built 6/11-13, and plaster and fill on 6/27. Sixty (60!) days dig to fill! We are now almost a month in and have been swimming for a few days--we love it! Pool school was last week and the service team has been fantastic--again all incredibly likable, knowledgeable, fun people--especially Tony who did our pool school! We have a few issues with our plaster, likely due to the underlying gunite, but Blue Haven has been 100% responsive and forward-leaning on solving the problem and we should have that taken care of by the end of August. In summary, if you're on the fence between pool companies we would highly encourage you to go with Blue Haven. From the construction team, office staff, and leadership to the service and operations department, we could not be more pleased with the outcome. Now, the next big step--getting a Loop Loc winter cover! Sadly, we have to winterize in N. Virginia! Best of luck to those considering a pool.

Our experience with Blue Haven started off well during the sales process, but unfortunately…read moreeverything changed once the contract was signed. Communication became difficult, timelines were not respected, and we were charged additional fees for multiple items that should have been addressed upfront. One situation that was especially disappointing occurred during the concrete phase. A contractor attempted to change the agreed-upon plan because it would have been easier for them, while also requesting additional charges. Not realizing my husband was the homeowner, the contractor stated, "These people have money, we should just charge them more." My husband then informed him that he was in fact the owner. We brought this concern to Nathan and Carrie, but their response did not seem surprised or concerned, which made us feel this type of situation may not be uncommon. We were originally promised the pool would be completed by October, yet the project was not finished until April. There were long periods where little to no progress was made, and crews rarely showed up consistently. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this company.
