Our pool has damaged from a tornado and we were recommended to contact Swimstyle for repairs. We're sure glad we did. From the very beginning Nancy was very helpful guiding us through the quoted repairs, options available, and providing coping and liner samples. Joe was excellent in fielding renovation questions, typically providing email responses within just a few hours. Israel leads a team of Rockstars performing all the renovation work like a symphony of artists. Professionalism through and through! Perhaps the single most meaningful act was that of a simple one. We have a young daughter and at the end of each work day, unasked a member of the Swimstyle Team would re-setup the pool safety fence. This mindfulness for the safety of our daughter was very much appreciated and heartfelt. We can't recommend Swimstyle strong enough, you'll be very pleased with the staff and services they provide. There retail storefront, Arundel Pool & Spa would mirror similar experiences and associated feedback. All the best, Sal

AWFUL experience. We had so many issues with the opening of our pool. When we talked to numerous…read morepeople they all had different stories. A lot of he said she said why things were not done but never took responsibility. One person told me the pool was too cloudy to put the Polaris in and do a cleaning. Then another person told me we told them not to put the Polaris in and they did do the cleaning. But you said the pool was too cloudy to do the cleaning and put the Polaris in. So something just doesn't add up. The one person's solution was for us to pay them to come and do a cleaning at their normal rate.

They helped me choose the right materials, explained every step of the renovation process, and kept the project on schedule. The workmanship is excellent--new bottom surfaces, and upgraded liner. My pool went from worn and outdated to clean, modern, and inviting. What impressed me most was their attention to detail and the pride they take in their work. Coastal Pools delivered exactly what they promised, and the results speak for themselves. If you're considering a pool renovation, Coastal Pools is a company you can trust for both craftsmanship and professionalism. The team all worked together in all steps of the renovation. I would like to thank Kevin, Taylor, Dani, Dan, Mel, Nicole, Ashley, Jena, Jake and the insulation team.

Upon opening the pool for the season, Tyler made my pool from green to sparkly, crystal clear clean in less than 30 minutes! Today, Lizardo came to service my pool, was patient in explaining everything to me, answered all my questions, and took great care in going above and beyond. Highly recommend Coastal to anyone looking for a pool build, or expert pool service!

Merillat Pools & Aqua Maintenance

We had Merillat build a pool for us and we could not be happier. They designed a custom pool that…read morewe could grow and expand as our budget allowed. They used a computerized graphic program so we could actually see how the pool would look and it actually had our home and woods and existing landscape in the images. This really helped me visualize the concept. The design had a fire pit and a trellis which we could later add. The pool took six weeks to build. I was super anxious about the tile and bottom color we picked and they assured us it would give us the look we were trying to achieve. We wanted a natural pond look as we lived in the woods. The pool turned out exceptional and far exceeded anything we could have envisioned. The pool is now four years old and we have not had a minutes trouble with anything. My home is about 35 minutes from their office and I go out of my way to get my water tested by them to this day. I initially used someone close by my house to test water but quickly found out they sold me chemicals I didn't need. Merillat always has been honest about the water needs and even said use this rather than that as you get the same result but less expensive. Also the pool was turn key. By turn key I mean I didn't buy one thing for the pool other than a few floats and pool toys. The pool came with a cover, Polaris vacuum, chemicals that's lasted almost the whole season, skimmer on a pole, and a great pool 101 class. I am so thankful we chose them. Oh and price, they were in line with the rest of the folks we priced. Their design and making sure the pool design met our needs and wants far exceeded any of their completion. We give them all thumbs up.

05.28.24 Customer…read moreservice is terrible here. Came in this morning for an O-ring for my automatic chlorinator. My old one was all cracked up. I'm having water delivered tomorrow so I need an O-ring that would fit temporarily I knew I wouldnt find the right one. I asked the boy at the counter if he had O-ring that would fit the top that I have , he told me I had to have the model number. I mentioned I just want an O-ring that will fit it. I don't it doesn't matter if it's not the exact one. He said just a minute, walked into the back so I walked over to the wall where there were some O rings, a Lady come over and asked me if she could help me I told her what I was doing. She said that they couldn't help me find an O-ring unless they had the model number again, I told her I just wanted something temporary so I can get my phone running for water tomorrow and then I would get the right one. She insisted she couldn't. So I went to Ace they had a O ring there that I was able to use temporarily It's not the exact one, but it works. And I paid a lot less than what I would have paid here that's for sure. I had started coming here to get chemicals and water tested over the past 2 years I'll make my purchases elsewhere now. Thanks for the help!!

I would like to express my displeasure with the Wise Pool & Spa company for pool opening service…read more5/19/2021. Upon arriving home to check out the pool, I noticed that it was extremely dirty inside. There was dirt on the steps and some miscellaneous debris inside the pool I noticed my pool vacuum was running along the inside of pool. This was very disturbing and I called the office of Wise Pool but they were closed for the evening so I made several attempts the following day until I finally got someone to take my call. That person identified himself as "Mike"... I shared with Mike why I was calling and I asked what service did he perform for $350 Mike replied - We remove the cover and "clean" and install stairs, railing, chemicals. I asked what did he clean and he said the pool cover! I replied that is not what I assumed I was paying for. The goal was to not have to go through the process of having to clean up the pool from the off season and drain the pool to the appropriate level, clean, remover dirt debris, add chemicals and repair or recommend repairs if my system doesn't meet all check points. Mike replied - We don't do that. It would take up too much time. I could see no more than 6 or 7 people a day and I'm way too busy. I shared with Mike that I had experience with pool service competitors that have opened multiple pools and their service programs include scrub the tiles, sides, steps, floor and vacuum pool in addition to adding chemicals and equipment check. Mike again stated that he doesn't do that because it takes up too much time and sorry for the misunderstanding. I told Mike had I known that I was paying for Wise Pool & spas (he) to remove my cover and add chemicals that I would had solicited a couple neighbors to help perform those few things. His comment to that was well what do you do for maintenance? I replied, I perform my weekly chemical checks & cleaning but that I did not want to open or close the pool and that's why I called on Wise pool & spa to perform it. Again, Mike's only reply was "sorry for the misunderstanding". There are a couple things I find wrong with my conversation with Mike of Wise Pool & spa and those are - 1. There was no attempt made to ensure my satisfaction from the clear lack of service performance that I had received for his rate of $350 for Pool Opening. Only "sorry for the misunderstanding" 2. I have mesh pool cover that is roughly 20' x 35' in dimension and I had taken my leaf blower and cleaned it off the evening prior to my scheduled appointment that they did not call to confirm as they promised. My spouse called that morning to check to see if they were still coming after multiple calls only to get their answering machine. Finally someone answered the sales line and verified our service was still scheduled. 3. Third, based on the dimension of my pool cover, I don't know where Mike could have "cleaned it" as he said he did because I don't have the lay down area around the pool decking to accommodate laying it out flat to clean but then again, I don't know what Mike's - Wise Pool & spa definition of "cleaning" is... There was no evidence that it was laid out in the yard so curious what cleaning occurred. In closing - we decided to use Wise Pool to open our pool this season because we had purchased a new pool vacuum and other products a few years ago from them and they relocated from their former location to less than 5 minutes from our home so we wanted to support them further but after the poor performance in field service and the difficulty reaching anyone by phone even when there are 3 to 4 employees cars parked daily when you pass by their office, we will move on and give our business to a local competitor. Blue Haven Pools & Spas

Blue Haven Pools & Spas

We selected Blue Haven Pools out of the three companies that we received bids from and we are so…read morehappy that we did! From the sales experience with Pete C to the construction PMs, Nate and Ryan, as well as Jamie in the office, every person with whom we interacted was professional, caring, and great at their jobs. But let me start from the beginning. We did not plan this for years, think out every feature we wanted, and meticulously go through the process. Instead, we decided in late February, "hey, let's get a pool" and reached out to 3 local companies (one is a BIG national company, the other a small local company, and the third was Blue Haven--locally owned, but with the big national name). From the beginning, Pete C, Blue Haven's sales person was the MOST responsive, most available, and easiest to communicate with of all the salespeople. He came out within a day of our call to walk the property (nobody else was that fast!), shared ideas, listened to us (even though we didn't really know what we wanted, except NOT the most expensive pool ever!), and worked with our budget. Our yard isn't large..just over a quarter acre, and my goal was "most swimming space possible" so we went with a 14' by 30' rectangle, no sun shelf, 3.5-6 feet deep, sheer descent at the far end and all standard selections except the plaster (Quartzscapes Aruba Sky). Everything was selected at contract time, but if I had to do it again, I would take more time with those selections and make sure I had samples in my hand for a few days to compare. We signed our contract on March 8th, permits were requested on March 11 and weren't received from our county until April 22 (!!). With permits in hand on April 22, Blue Haven's team (and I mean team! The VP, Tyler, the PMs, Nate and Ryan, and Sales Guy, Pete,) all arrived three days later to walk the property, confirm the design done at the Blue Haven offices, and rope off the pool space. They were fast, confidence-inspiring, fun and friendly...that's one thing about Blue Haven, we genuinely LIKED every person with whom we came in contact from the company. Construction started 4/29 with the big dig--no rocks were found, so we won the lottery on that front! Things progressed quickly after that: steel on 5/2-3, plumbing on 5/7, Gunite on 5/13, equipment delivered and installed on 5/20, electrical complete on 5/21, tile and coping on 5/28, patio built 6/11-13, and plaster and fill on 6/27. Sixty (60!) days dig to fill! We are now almost a month in and have been swimming for a few days--we love it! Pool school was last week and the service team has been fantastic--again all incredibly likable, knowledgeable, fun people--especially Tony who did our pool school! We have a few issues with our plaster, likely due to the underlying gunite, but Blue Haven has been 100% responsive and forward-leaning on solving the problem and we should have that taken care of by the end of August. In summary, if you're on the fence between pool companies we would highly encourage you to go with Blue Haven. From the construction team, office staff, and leadership to the service and operations department, we could not be more pleased with the outcome. Now, the next big step--getting a Loop Loc winter cover! Sadly, we have to winterize in N. Virginia! Best of luck to those considering a pool.

Our experience with Blue Haven started off well during the sales process, but unfortunately…read moreeverything changed once the contract was signed. Communication became difficult, timelines were not respected, and we were charged additional fees for multiple items that should have been addressed upfront. One situation that was especially disappointing occurred during the concrete phase. A contractor attempted to change the agreed-upon plan because it would have been easier for them, while also requesting additional charges. Not realizing my husband was the homeowner, the contractor stated, "These people have money, we should just charge them more." My husband then informed him that he was in fact the owner. We brought this concern to Nathan and Carrie, but their response did not seem surprised or concerned, which made us feel this type of situation may not be uncommon. We were originally promised the pool would be completed by October, yet the project was not finished until April. There were long periods where little to no progress was made, and crews rarely showed up consistently. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this company.
