So bummed! This theater is trash now. My family used to go here for years. Both the customers and workers are a bunch of annoying teenagers. One teenager cut me in line for concessions and had the nerve to save a spot for her friend. After commenting how rude that was, I swapped lanes. Normally, I would've made her move but I saw a shorter lane so I went for it. But, then the teenager worker behind the counter took the order of the person before me and then walked off right when it was my time to order (he didn't even say a word; just walked off). I was the only one in the line at the time and already had snacks in hand. He was gone for almost ten minutes. I asked for assistance from multiple workers while I was waiting. They are just young without any supervision --all so disorganized with no direction until one of them finally helped after I had to flag her down. Then, finally when I got to my movie, I thought it would be over but it was a bunch of annoying teenagers in the seats next to me that were talking nonstop. They talked throughout all the previews. They kept talking after the movie started; after five minutes of waiting for them to quiet now that the movie had started, it was apparent they were going to keep talking so I got a refund at the front and just left. Go here only if you love being around annoying teenagers. Everyone else BEWARE! read more

Messy aground the counters , workers are sliding around on the popcorn and talking instead of working . People are using the same plastic gloves to touch counters and everything in between (big guy with red curly hair ) not a manager insight to keep anything in order . Extremely old theater that needs some maintenance and updating. It appears they invest the majority of their money in the food court. Our cashier was extremely slow in gathering our pre-made food. It took her 30 minutes to ring up the order, make two Chocolate Mochas, grab two bags of popcorn and a sprite. Just simply moving without a purpose. And then when you swipe the card, it immediately asks you to tip. Unacceptable. read more

I was so excited to see Top Gun XD. Movie great, big screen, comfortable, awesome sound. Froze to death even after asking 4 attendants to turn ac up so we could not chatter our teeth. Then 30 full minutes More Ads than previews. Unnecessary ads. It was ridiculous to pay over $17 a ticket, with a full 30 minutes of a few previews and horrible Commercials, many self serving. Don't torture your customers. It's a nice venue. Don't make it so uncomfortable and maddening waiting so long. read more

So really like this theater and have been going to movies since it opened. Today, while standing in line waiting at concessions, we witnessed a worker first serve a bag of popcorn, that out sat in front of the customer for around 4 minutes while the worker did something else. Upon his return, the customer said she had wanted butter between the layers and the worker grabbed the bag and dumped it back in with the fresh popcorn. Instantly we were like "nope, not having popcorn today!" So we got out of like and ordered a coffee. To me anyway, this action is not only unsanitary, with all the food viruses and bacteria issues going around and it being unprofessional as well. Just not the level I expected from a Cinemark. Would've been a 5 Star had it not been for this disgusting incident. Didn't seem to be anyone with any authority on the floor to complain. read more

This theater has been in my stomping grounds for years of living in or around Pflugerville. I know that now we have places like Gold Class which take the cake on posh viewing, but to me this place will always have the best combination of location, surroundings, and quality. For instance - for most people the idea is "dinner and a movie". This bad boy is nestled right in the heart of restaraunts ranging from total fast food (Jack in the Box) to awesome quick-sit-in places (Which Which) to full blown dine in experiences (Cheddars, Texas Road House) - all which make great spots to take dates, kids, family and friends. The theater itself also has a good balance of culture - you get good healthy turn outs to your block buster type flicks with only the rare worry of actually selling out. You get a good spread of show times - many times we've just driven up without checking and found something we wanted to see. And finally, you get a decent concession stand with a good variety of products, complete with the little side stations for adding your own extra butter, which I love. My girlfriend raves about their "loaded" nachos, which are way better than your standard bag of chips and cup of cheese. They have also recently renovated the center of their counter, and now feature things like Ice Cream and other frozen treats (Moca iced shakes/coffies). The actual theaters themselves are fine - comfortable seating, featuring one of the big digital XD screens, cup holders, etc. I'm a beefier guy and I've never felt confined. As I said, I've been coming here for years - the only reason why I can't give it the 5th star is that of course it's not "as good as it gets" - for that, go check out Gold Class or an iMax - but this guy is a very, very close second. read more

Well just blow me down, kangaroo! I forgot to review this Tinseltown movie location in Pflugerville. I don't go to movies very much but decided to see Avatar in 3D after hearing about all the hype. So I scooted on over to go to the movie after looking up the start times on the internet. Well just bust my buttons the online page said 2:30pm and when I got there it started at 1:00pm. Bummer, yes I should have called! But sometimes I can be a dummy! So the next day comes and I try again, yep I was on time and got my ticket, $9 but that was OK for a 3D film I guess. I went in and looked at getting popcorn and a drink, I voted against it the price was too high and I just had a early lunch. Since the vote was 100% against I did not get refreshments. The interior was neat and clean and the smell of popcorn was in the air, I waddled on to the seating area and ended up on the top row and I was the only one there. As I watched the ads others begin to arrive and soon there were 100 or so patrons there to watch with me. As far as the movie itself I liked it but the 3D effects were great. So now I have decied the next movie I will see will be the Harry Potter movie in 3D! Would I go back? You bet-cha popcorn people! read more

I came to Tinseltown today to see a movie I've been waiting to see. I was going to eat at the theater. After waiting in line at the concession stand I was informed that the registers were down. I was told the only thing I could have was a popcorn and a drink. Management, please let people know when they come in what's happening so they can avoid waiting in lines only to be told they can't get what they want to get. read more

You smell funny. That is the number one reason I won't go here. Its a smell like rancid popcorn butter-flavored goo. Also, the picture quality and the sound are a 4 on a scale of 1-10. If you have to see a movie at Tinseltown, and you are up north, just keep going to the one in Round Rock near the outlet mall. Picture quality is about a 5 or 6, and it doesn't smell. Yet. read more

If you want to see first-run movies, you're options are limited to the Alamo Drafthouse (YEA!) or a cookie cutter spot like Tinsletown. The seats are comfortable, even if you don't know when they were last cleaned. The sound is good and surprisingly just the right volume for the film. And they usually keep the place clean. On the flip-side, I think TInseltown is unreasonably expensive both for tickets and concessions and the folks serving up drinks, popcorn, and candy hardly seem to recognize that each moment you are waiting for them to count your change, you're missing the movie you've paid so much to see. I go to Tinsletown about once a year, and even that seems too much. With the other great movie spots in town, plus DVD's, pay-per-view, and the increasingly low barrier on getting a film online, the days of behemoth movie theaters with bloated prices may soon be behind us. Tinseltown is our closest theater other than the Discount 8 which we'll use in a heartbeat. Theater always seems clean and well attended. I like seeing movies here unless there's an event which makes the Alamo my go to when it comes to film. If I'm having a down afternoon and want a matinee, this is where I go. read more

A local hot spot for pre teens and teenagers to go sit in the back row of an R rated film they snuck into, right before getting to second/ third base (respectively) with their significant other. Seriously, I've been on both sides of this. Growing up nearby, I remember when this theatre opened in 1997. It was right after the movie Titanic came out, and I swore that the smoke stacks from the Titanic looked like the glowing cylinders on top of Tinseltown. It was silly, but I could always see them from my bedroom window, even though they were four miles away. This place is now (2012) pretty gross on any given day. While it isn't a dive theatre, it isn't exactly a pleasant experience either. CONS: the arm rests do NOT move. Concessions are ridiculously slow and expensive. Their REAL D 3D is overpriced for what is offered. Cleanliness is a major problem as well. PROS: Uh... well... compared to Alamo Drafthouse or the Round Rock Tinseltown (built in 2008) there is nothing special about it. In fact every thing that made it unique or special has been removed in favor of a generic, paint by numbers theatre with declining revenues and sticky seats. Nasty. OH! If you're a parent who doesn't know how to explain sex to your kids, you could send them to a Friday night showing of Saw XXIX or Big Mama 5. There's always loud, idiot teenagers there around that time. And they are always, ALWAYS being gross with each other. There's a PRO for you.. the miracle of life. read more

Inner Snob Alert: 1) Dirty facilities: Popcorn all over the lobby floor. Ice cream flavors were cross contaminated (unless choc chip is supposed to have bits of pink in it). 2) Long wait at concessions: 4 people working, 7 parties ahead of me. Wait was at least 6 min before I decided to leave and ask for a refund. 3) Kids all over, SNEAKING in, running around. I'm a former teacher. It's hard for me to see them misbehave and not say anything. (pressing lips together). Went there to meet a friend to watch a movie. There was a nice seaating area with a couch and some tables and chairs, but it was trashed. Popcorn all over the floor. It may be just me, but if I'm going to spend the money to go to the movies, Flix right down the street is a much better experience. Or even better, make the trip to the Alamo. read more

We usually do Flix, Imax or Gateway...but this theatre had a time that worked for us and it is close to the house. The whole concession thing was the most painful experience I think I have ever had...I equate it to shattered knee cap. It took FOREVER and it was not just our attendant. All of the personnel seemed to resemble Keystone Cops, if you are old enough to know what I am talking about (Youtube it and you will get the idea). Don't get me wrong, the folks were nice, polite and smiled, but they were climbing all over each other. They were the embodiment of inefficiency. read more

This place used to be a good theater. I went this past weekend, and was very disappointed. The girl at the concession stand might as well have been a cardboard cutout. I get that working at a movie theater isn't the most exciting job in the world, but at least demonstrate that you have a pulse. I walked up to the counter, and she just stared vacantly. As I started to give her my order, she turned away to look at her coworker behind her, so I had to wait for her to decide to turn in my direction again, and resume her glassy-eyed countenance. Other than giving me my total, she said not one word the entire time. Also, many of the seats in the theater looked like someone had slashed them with knives, and pretty much all of them were worn out, sagging, and the fake leather was peeling off. And finally, the standard-issue screaming children, complete with parents who have little interest in controlling them. Always a nice feature. The overall feel of the place was much more like a dollar theater than a nice one. read more

Ok, so I will give the first star because this place usually has a pretty good selection of films to choose from. The second star is because the new XD screen and room are bad-ass, seriously, and worth the 12$ if you can spare it. And the third star is for pure convenience since this place is the closest theatre to my house, and that for me, is a big win. Tinseltown is a typical movie theater. Anyhow, I usually watch movies at a theatre that offers a selection of meals. This place offers the standard selection of popcorn, hot dogs, anchors, and candy albeit, at inflated prices. The one thing that stood out was that I was lucky enough to watch Battle LA on the wrap around XD screen which, I believe, is a nifty idea. My family has been here 3 times now. This place has consistently been CLEAN and spacious. Easy to find right off the HWY 35. The Concession stand - Is Clean, well stocked and offers Hot dogs, Nachos, pop corn, candy, ice cream, slurpees and more... Bathrooms- have been CLEAN!!! Which is a big deal to me other wise I wouldn't return. They have a lounging area to wait between movies or to chat with friends Staff - Very friendly ,nice and helpful. Theaters - are clean. we find great seating every time. Only down side for me the arm rest doesn't go up but other then that we found our go to movie place! We been averaging going to the movies once a week! Matinee prices are reasonable and we signed up for the email coupons for discounts at concession stand. read more

I like the fact that they upgraded their seating. Very comfortable and you don't feel like you're sitting on top of someone. Only if they can upgrade their ability to get these kids that service you some ability to be friendly and understand that they have a job because of the person in front of them. No "Thank You", no acknowledgement. Sad when this is the expectation now. focus on getting your employees to be more service oriented and it will definately be a 4-5 star theater. read more

There is no worse theater in town. Really. Each time I've gone there, it has not been cleaned up much from the viewing before. Popcorn kernels crunch under your feet. The first seat I sat on was wet, I hope it was only soda. And, there were wrappers in the cup holder. The ticket sales staff are not helpful. The ushers are borderline rude. Additionally, in the spirit of Keeping Austin Weird, I'd rather go with a place like Alamo Drafthouse. Those folks seem much more responsive when you have a concern. Tinseltown is just not the place to see a movie, and I for one will go to Highland Mall, or the Regal Cinemas instead. read more

I came in yesterday with my wife and little boy to watch Rio. On our way into the theater to get seated my little guy fell on the ground causing me to lose my drink(All over the floor) trying to look after him. I notified a young man working there about the spill. He sent someone in to clean up the ice, and without me asking refilled my empty cup. I'm sorry I can't remember your name, but I'm friends with your GM there and I'm going to call him and let him know his staff did an excellent job of taking care of us. I usually like going to places with a full service to watch a movie but I had to go watch dinner somewhere else that day. This was also the only nearby theater showing John Wick at a reasonable time for me. This place lives up to the standards of your typical movie theater but the reason I am giving this two stars is because we waited nearly 20 minutes for our pretzels. We almost missed the beginning of the movie. Employees should be properly trained to make sure customers aren't waiting for a long time for their food especially if the lines aren't even that long. read more

The movie was suppose to start at 8:00. We arrived at 7:45. We sat through at least 20 commercials - more than I have seen in the past year. Why pay to be brainwashed when you can do that at home by turning on your TV and forcing yourself to watch every single commercial? The movie finally started at 8:20. By that time we were pretty stressed by the bombardment of ad after ad after ad. None of the ads were entertaining - in fact they were noisy, obnoxious (PC-GAMER), sexist (ABC) and deceitful to children (Walt Disney). This is theft of all the paying customers' time. At home you have the freedom to turn off the sound or change the channel. At a theater, you are stuck - you don't know when the movie will start - you'd never guess it would be 20 minutes after the published start time. read more

I just discovered the only theater in Austin offering XD 3D. It totally rocks. I had seen Avatar at another theater and then heard about XD as the latest offering in movie entertainment. So I found a friend who hadn't seen Avatar and suggested we go there. Even though I had already seen the movie, the experience was still awesome. We bought our tickets online from Fandago. It's so cool to walk into the theater and go up to the machine and swipe your card and out pops two tickets. OK, so $15 per ticket. (a .50 charge by purchasing online). But for a movie as great as Avatar, I would highly recommend it. And it seems Cinemark, Tinseltown has not done much in promoting this newest offering to Austin. It opened in October '09 and I just heard about it. Come to find out, that theater was getting a bit ghetto and they did a remodel adding the new XD stadium. It seats about 450 so it's pretty huge. If you can't make it to the Bob Bullock IMAX, this is definitely the next best thing. The seating is even more comfortable then the IMAX. I'm 6'4", and I had plenty of leg room. Another nice feature is the seat in front of you would never inhibit the viewing of the full screen, no matter how tall the person in front of you is. We opted to sit on the back row...yes, I'm a back row sitter. But I got up to go pee and as I walked toward the screen, the 3D effects seemed to get better the closer I got to the screen. I just spoke to a co-worker who saw it this weekend and always sits in the middle of the theater. She said it was definitely the best she's ever seen and it was her second time to see it too. The back row seats didn't rock as the other do, so keep that in mind. Check it out next time you are looking for a movie to see. Alice in Wonderland will be opening in March and I would definitely say to go there. read more

They made an iced caramel machiatto into a frappe chino then told us it was the same thing as they just put it through a blender. Also, they were out of hot dogs and didn't give a time estimate on the dozen or So they had put on the machine 10 minutes ago. The entire place is extremely dirty. I will never come back to this theater again. My friends and I have come to this theater many times in the past and for the first time tonight I am appalled at the theater. They have apparently instituted a new policy of disallowing regularly sized purses or larger into the theater. This overly broad policy results in people being unable to carry necessary items with them into the theater. For example, a diabetic being unable to carry the medications and tools she needs with her. If the theater is afraid of weapons being brought into the theater (or God forbid the person that brings in homemade snacks) then institute a policy of checking bags like every sporting arena and amusement park does. To make such an overly broad policy that doesn't even begin to address the actual potential harm is ridiculous. I will be going five miles up the road to movie theaters in Round Rock from this point forward. read more

Worse movie experience ever. I will not be going back to this theater until they can clear out the inconsiderate kids. Everyone around us was on their phone throughout the entire movie and talking like they were at home watching a movie on their couch. I also didn't realize it was acceptable to take your shoes off at a movie theater. I guess having a police officer roaming the theater at night is a start but no place I will be back anytime soon. Seats are old and cracked, soda super syrup. Pop corn old. Came to see the movie Pets... Speakers low, hot in here & we always bring blankets to stone hill... Why is the surround inop here?? If I wanted this quality I could have went to the dollar movie... Which is actually better... Why do people come here? I have to admit this is NOT my side of town... I give it .5 yes point 5 out of 5!!! Never again. My 5 year old is disappointed. Oh & bathrooms NASTY!! I'm actually outside smoking. And I don't smoke... This sucks. For a big theater, with tons of parking and the latest in the new releases, come here. No indie movies, sadly, but enough big blockbusters that you can usually find something to watch. They have an arcade though where you can easily blow some dough, especially at the air hockey machine. If you have kids this would be a great location to take them, play first, then watch the flick. read more

Most, if not all, of the renovations have been completed. I went to see 2012 in the new XD theater, and I was very impressed. The configuration of the theater has changed. The seats are much more comfortable than they used to be, and right now of course, everything smells nice and new. Of course tickets for this theater are $12 so I guess it's up to you to determine if you want to spend that much to see a movie in this theater. For a special effects driven movie with great visuals and sound, I think it is. I actually wouldn't mind seeing a "smaller budget" movie like Paranormal Activity in this theater. That would be something else just in terms of sound alone! read more
