Lucky to have this establishment in Rapid City. I've visited the only other 2 cigar bars in South Dakota and for atmosphere this one wins hands down. When the weather turns cold I return for a wonderful place to catch fall and winter sports on the 3 large screen TVs. If you find the right strategic spot you can watch 3 different games at the same time. The help here is friendly as are their patrons. Give it a try if you're visiting the area. No big deal but then a guy came up and she took his order before mine. As a fairly new cigar smoker, I cannot say enough good about my experience at Tinder Box. The staff was extremely welcoming and were happy to answer any questions. I had 3 other folks visit the humidor while I was picking out a few smokes, and they were also very welcoming and gave a few suggestions. The cigars I bought were put into a couple sealed bags with boveda packs. Thankfully, I was able to return a short time later and smoke. Tons of room with an ashtray and box of matches at each seat. There were 4 of us smoking and you would have never known. Their air filtration system is top notch. Can't wait to go again! read more

Wow! This place totally surprised me and exceeded expectations. We stopped in for the second half of Monday Night Football. Upon entering I noticed right away the decor. Tons of seating available in comfortable chairs, rockers, love seats. The front area has numerous TVs to watch the game. The side room a chill atmosphere with no TVs. My son and I sat down and played chess after the game in the side room. The area is really condusive to conversation and visiting. I am by no means a cigar conneisuire. Typically my friend will pick my cigars at his lounge back home. I let Amy, the bar tender know. No judgement! She made a few suggestions and picked two cigars that I thoroughly enjoyed. One was a house cigar that had a hint of sweet. Amy made sure to check on us and refill our drinks even though we weren't sitting at the bar. I travel 11 States in the Midwest and the Tinder Box is one of my top 3. Comfortable lounge with enough wood accents to make it warm and inviting but not a dark dungeon. They have a clever way of positioning their TVs so if you don't want to be bothered, you can easily ignore them. Efficient smoker eaters as the owner cleans them weekly. A good selection of cIgars. Omg I loved this place. It was my first time at a cigar bar and also my first time smoking cigars, which I only did because Tinder Box is so cool that I couldn't let the opportunity pass. The staff is very friendly, they made me feel welcomed especially when I told them I didn't know anything about cigars. They have an awesome room with specific temperature with a wide variety of cigars, starting with the delicious house cigar that is only about 6 bucks. All the decoration is on point, between classy and hipster, I kinda wanted to swich couches to experience every single corner. They have a great air purification system so it's actually super easy to breath in there. And talking about cocktails, my Martinez was perfectly made and pretty good priced. My wife and I stopped in here for a bit. We'd never been to a cigar bar before but the staff was very helpful in directing us toward the humidor and seating areas. Wide range of cigars and prices, as well as many drinks on tap. Atmosphere was wonderful, not too bright or loud. We will absolutely be spending more time there in the future. read more

This is one of the only places I could find in Rapid City to enjoy a cigar. It is split into two sides, one side is a retail establishment that sells cigars. I think they sell wine also, but I couldn't see past the beauty of my smoke. The other side is a bar that you can smoke your purchase in. I walked into the humidor, which is about 8'x8' and it was already occupied by a biker in full leather. I was immediately excited by the selection... until I saw that literally (the real "literally" not the "literally" that 20-year old hipsters throw around) over 90% of the boxes were empty. Unfortunately, I left my cigars in the car because I wanted to support a local establishment. I found an Oliva that was decently priced and headed over to the bar side to smoke it. You can bring in your own smokes. There are lots of chairs, but the interior is kind of sterile, without much thought given to decorations. They also have several ceiling fans, which is a genius idea because instead of drawing the smoke out of the building, it blows it right back in your lap. I sat there huffin and puffin on my smoke, I thought to myself "self, a beer would taste great right now", and out of nowhere the waitress appeared... then walked right past me. She walked right past me for 30 minutes. Now, I'm used to my striking good looks intimidating people, but they usually put on the sunglasses and get around to waiting on me since they make tips. Finally, she asked if I needed anything and I ordered a micro-brew that was not warm, but it definitely wasn't cold. I did go back the next night (I mentioned this was the only place to have a cigar in town, right?) and got the same sort of service, even though there was only about 10 people in the entire place. read more

if you like smoking, this is a great place. it's attached to a cigar shoppe that allows you to smoke there. if you like distinct foreign import beer, this is a good place. they have a nice array of imports on draught as well as in bottles, usually German and Belgians. if you like smoking and drinking beer, you'll love it. this is the only bar i'm aware of in rapid city that you can smoke in anymore. if you like drinking beer but don't like smoking, you're not going to have a great time. but if you exercise situational awareness you should be able to find a relatively smoke-free spot somewhere. except during busy times. they have outdoor seating in the warmer months, so that may help. read more
