Moo shu pork and fried rice.
    Peter T.

They used to be located down the road in Barrington, that's when I became acquainted with them nearly 40 years ago. Relocated to Palatine many years ago, take out only, a small family operation that serves your food cooked to order, so unlike bigger operations, you may wait a bit for your food. It is fairly priced. We had the moo shu pork, kung Pao with two proteins, and house special fried rice. Free egg rolls if your order is past a certain dollar amount. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. I'll continue to be a regular, even tho it's a bit of a drive for me now.

Good customer service. Lady at the counter was very nice and kind. Beef and broccoli, shrimp and broccoli were both equally good. Pork fried rice was not too greasy just perfect. Egg roll was good too. Overall, good food with an awesome lunch special price.

I'm shocking myself by giving Tin Seng 5 stars but here it is! I went expecting not to like it based on other reviews (peer pressure) but everything about Tin Seng is fantastic. First things first, their prices are great. They have some of the cheapest lunch specials around and you get a boatload of food for said prices. The lunch prices hold true every day except Monday (they are closed Mondays) from 1130am to 230pm. My lunch specials were $6.35 each and they come with a can of pop & egg roll, woohoo but most on the menu are $6.15 each. Sesame Chicken - AMAZING! Honestly some of the best I've ever had but be warned it's quite different than the usual Sesame Chicken. The sauce is soooo sweet and sticky. The chicken is really fresh and deep fried with just the right crisp on the outside. Orange Chicken - Not spicy at all despite the menu warning. I liked the dish a lot but def preferred the sesame chicken Fried Rice - Yum, delicious, really good Egg Roll - Thank goodness it had no shrimp in it (I'm allergic) but was filled with beef. Yummy eggroll that was deep fried to perfection. I think this is my new favorite spot for Chinese food! It doesn't hurt that the lady working is so cute & sweet. It's a hidden spot on the corner of a strip mall off of Northwest Highway (address says Quentin but it's actually NW Hwy facing). Prices are great, food is quality - I'm Tin Seng all the way!

Authentic American Chinese cuisine. Food is made as you order and comes out fresh and hot. I love their noodles.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. Salt & Pepper Tofu ($11.50) - for the vegetarians Chicken Skewers (4) - $8.75 - tender and shareable Walnut Shrimp ($19.90) - mayo with shrimp Young Chow Fried Rice ($12.50) - fried rice is a necessity for our group Mongolian Beef ($17.50) - a classic 2 Sesame Ball (4) - $7 - a great way to finish a meal. 18% tip was automatically added, and service was OK throughout. Our water was kept refilled, and I think hot water was as well. It was a good meal and opportunity to get back together

Both the service and quality of food has gone way down from what they were famous for. The waitress spilled my tea, also dipped her finger in my tea, had no apology or offer to exchange it with a fresh cup. I had to ask her for a fresh cup of tea. Then the other server that brought our entrees spilled my husbands tea and again no offering to getting a fresh cup. We had to ask AGAIN for a fresh cup! While the portions were generous, the quality of all the food has gone way down. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. This dish didn't have any unique flavor that one would expect. Previously we had experienced a difference in the food, taste and quality and that's what kept us returning. Sadly, after this experience I wouldn't recommend it to anyone or come back! I'd rather stick with Yu's Mandarin than drive to this place! Quality always wins over quantity in my books!

It's been a tough lately since our go to place changed ownership and the quality declined. Hong Kong Restaurant is a small, family owned restaurant in the same strip mall as the Ace Hardware. It's a take out only restaurant, no tables and no seating. The lady is so nice. I called ahead asking how her General Tso's was made with brown sauce or if it was an orange type of sauce. She gave me a good description and mentioning it had some spice to it, but not offensive. It was exactly what my husband wanted. It wasn't overly breaded and the sauce was sweeter, savory with a little heat. He was a happy man. The fried rice had plenty of chicken and cooked well. The portions were huge! I also ordered beef and broccoli Cantonese chow mein. This was delicious! There was so much beef and broccoli, the sauce wasn't salty and went perfect with the chow mein noodles. We ordered egg rolls and crab rangoons too. Both we were good. The wrapper was a little thicker than I prefer, but they were both good. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on their menu like their egg foo yung. No pics ... hungry teenaged boys dove into the food right away.

We ordered from Thai House Restaurant! I was in the mood for some Tom Yum Veggie Soup and Pad See-Iew. We also ordered Hawaiian Chicken and Fried Rice. For starters we had Mee Krob and Fried Vegetarian Won Ton. The Mee Krob is one of my favorites. The sweet and sour sauce mixed with crispy rice noodles topped with fried tofu is really good. And the fried veggie won ton has a perfectly seasoned tofu stuffed inside. The Tom Yum Veggie Soup had that yummy tang that hit the spot. The veggies still had a nice crunch to them. The Pad-See-Iew was sweet but not too sweet. What I really love are the veggies and the smoked / charred taste to them. It's like the wok has years and years of seasoning embedded in it. So good, The Hawaiian chicken was cooked just right. It was not dry and was very juicy and it was great with the fried rice. I've never eaten inside the restaurant as we tend to order on lazy Sundays. Every time I order take out, from here, the food is ready with the time promised.
