Madeline Island is already quaint and intimate yet almost every patron makes small talk in a nice way. We met a cute poodle named Tommy on the patio and the owner allowed me to feed him some of my fabulous pork apple meal. There is a wide variety of food and cocktails. My husband and I split the Caesar salad with chicken (the chicken was not that great so I recommend omitting that) and then he had the pot pie and I had the apple pork with potatoes. The service and food is consistently great. Its location is cool - in the middle of the woods. It's comfortable and pretty inside. You're not squished together. The dining room is large and they have a party room they can open up. There's also a large bar on the other end of the building and a patio area. They usually have several specials on the chalk board. I usually get the 1/2 rack of ribs. They are FANTASTIC. Super tender and the sauce is great. I've also had their chicken wings - great! On our most recent trip (the last week and a half) - I had the ribeye special with the loaded baked potato and coleslaw. It was cooked perfectly and super tasty. I left a few toppings off my loaded potato - l had butter, bacon and grilled onions. It was fluffy and delish. They have a nice menu. You can ride your ATV or snow mobile right up to the building or your John Deere tractor (like a customer had when we were visiting ). Tons of Forest service roads/trails all around the area. The bathrooms are clean and accessible. Great food, great owner, great staff - hard working people wanting their customers to have a great experience.

It's a long and convoluted story, but I was with my minor child who was on the verge of a panic attack and needed to sit down somewhere, we were caught in a thunderstorm, and it felt like everything in town was closed. Probably because it was. Bayfield isn't exactly a late night town... nor does Uber or Lyft function out this way, despite the respective apps claiming otherwise. Morty's was close by. It was open. And I remembered that in Wisconsin not only can minor's sit at the bar, if they are with their legal parent they can even have a drink. Man, Wisconsin is the best! But the kid just wanted a soda, and I could have used a drink. So an old fashioned for me and a Coke for the kid. I shared our story with the bartender, and she offered some sage guidance. In a few minutes my wife arrived with the car to bring us back to our cabin. But let's hear it for the good old fashioned bar that provides both literal and figurative shelter from the storm. Wish I could have stayed longer, but even in my short time it left an indelible impression.

We had around 30 people so their downstairs event room was a perfect size with tables & chairs or bar seating, dedicated washrooms, handicap accessible, and we were also able to step directly outside to a shaded courtyard (it was hot that day!). Multiple seating options are available outside, as well as a playground space in the corner for small people. We couldn't have asked for a better venue, the staff is very friendly and the food and drinks are great... we highly recommend them!

When they are a small serving its very small. At times the fries are not hot then I just ask for a new batch and they accomodate me. We occasionally have a margarita but stopped having them when the waiter made it wrong and would not re make it. In general its very nice there. I do wish they would put Rhebens back on the menu everyday and not just the new way of on Sundays only. At times they need more wait staff. The best person is Sha she is fast, consistant and the customer feels like family.
