Wasn't really expecting much when I walked in -- not quite a dive bar and not quite modern, the interior lacks character. It's one of the places in town that's open later so I decided to give it a shot. Surprisingly, their wings were not bad, which bumps it up from 3 to 4 stars -- I got the Caribbean Jerk (I think it was called). The staff was very attentive even when during the week they didn't have waitresses you just order at the bar and they bring your order to your table. Worst dining experience I've ever had. We had 5 meals. 2 chicken strip meals, 2 burgers and a fish taco meal, one pop, and one white claw. The server asked us if we wanted fries or tots with each meal ordered so we assumed they came with the meal because that's the way the option was presented so we all got fries. I also ordered crab rangoons. They were burnt so I asked for some that weren't as well done, and this is what they brought me. The chicken strips were very well done also. The burgers were ok. 3 of the 5 meals weren't eaten and I had to go across the street and order a couple pizzas. The fries were cold and not even salted. The fish tacos each consisted of two battered chunks of fish with coleslaw and banana peppers under them. The fish itself was good so I ate some of that out of one taco, but left the rest as it just wasn't a good combo. I then was handed a bill for 92.90 with the Rangoons being deducted. They charged us 10$ for all of the fries. I asked to speak to the supervisor. When I approached her she asked me what I wanted. I then explained to her about the extra charge for fries not being explained and then reiterated my frustration over the Rangoons they couldn't get right. I didn't even mention the chicken or the fact that 3 meals went back into the garbage. I was told the Rangoons weren't burnt, that I messed with the wrong bartender cause she's not the nice one and that I could pay the bill and get out. read more

What went well? Everything went well. We dropped in for lunch September 26th and found it to be darned friendly and quick to greet and serve us seated at the bar. Our bartender was perfectly attentive, not too much, not too little. Our foods were outstanding. My Lake Superior fish sandwich was huge and fried to perfection. The French Fries spot on crispy and my wife's tater tots were as good as they can be. She too had a great sandwich, a chicken sandwich. They sure know how to guarantee no one walks away hungry. Large portions of such delicious food delivered not too fast, not too slowly. A dining stop well worth the time. Gourmet? Not no but hell no. Delicious? Not yes but hell yes. (we were not looking for "fine" dining) We will stop in there again on our next visit to Bayfield. read more

We sat for 5 minutes and received menus then waited 30 min before flagging down a waitress to order drinks and food. After another 30 min I went up to the bar to ask for our drinks. The food arrived 10 mins later and it was greasy and not worth the cost. The veggie burger only came with lettuce and pickles. We were very patient and not in a rush but after sitting so long we felt blatantly ignored. The servers were clearly very busy. I would not recommend going here. Patty had a precooked taste like it had been started then stored somewhere until ordering, bun was a white bun, cheese was cheese but that was it. Basically, those are the three things I need during any trip to Apple Fest so I was well-pleased. I'll be honest, the Apple Brat was "ok" but the beer was cold and reasonably priced. But while the service was poor, the burgers where fantastic! We also ordered the white fish and it had an awful lot of skin on it that made it taste fishy. Hmmm where do I start? We walked in late and hungry after a show at the Big Top. The place was busy, all the tables were taken. One was free but littered with dirty glasses and dishes. A few spots were open at the bar so we sat down and asked for menus. You could tell right away the bartender was flustered. She took our drink order and disappeared. Another person appeared and asked if we wanted food. We said yes and she wrote down our order. She then asked if we wanted drinks. Ours had not yet arrived. My husband explained that the other woman was getting them. It was taking a long time. The one who wrote down our order said....then you give her your order. I didn't know what this actually meant until later. I thought it meant then she will bring your drinks. The bartender eventually returned with our drinks. A while later she asked if we had ordered food. She knew we came in to eat and wanted to be sure we ordered before they closed the kitchen. Well. The kitchen was closing and we had no food. I think she was checking on that because there was a kitchen powwow going on. She came back and very aggressively told me I had not ordered. I said...she asked me what I wanted, I told her and she wrote it down. Isn't that ordering? Another powwow. #2 comes over and says....I told you to order from her. Ahhh I see. This is all my fault. I'm familiar with what's happening now.... However they redeemed themselves because everyone became very very nice. I asked if it was too late and they said they would bring whatever we wanted.
