This was the 2nd year we've purchased a Christmas tree at Bam. They have beautiful trees! We went…read morelast year because we read that they keep them in water which is different than what we've purchased before. This year the beautiful tree we purchased did not have any water in it. I thought maybe they had skipped it when adding water and when I mentioned it, he assured me that it was not dried up. It did not seem dry and it was beautiful so we went ahead and bought it. I don't believe they cut enough off when they gave it a fresh cut. I did notice that it wasn't much. We went straight home (10 minutes away) and put it in water but it never took any water even after a few days. Usually they take a lot if they've not had any and had a fresh cut. We took all the decor off and gave it a good 3-4" cut but it was too far gone...still not water taken. Make sure you buy one that is in water and/or also give it a good cut when you get it home. We paid too much for the tree for it to not last through the season. Lesson learned...the fresh cut matters maybe more than it being kept in water.

I just had my first experience with Hickey's Tree Service today. I had a huge tree that came down,…read moreknocked down my fence, and extended most of its length into a neighbor's backyard. I called Hickey's Tree Service on the recommendation of a friend, and in less than an hour, Gene Hickey was here. He checked out the job and gave us a quote which we accepted. Today, he and one of his crew came to remove the tree from the neighbors yard. They did it within 30 minutes. And it was a very large pine tree. Then there was another small tree that had fallen on the fence as well, and they removed it without me even knowing it. Then, when I went out to give him his check, he said that he and his guy were concerned about a dead cherry tree close to my fence which would threaten my daughter's car if it fell down. We had discussed that the day before, but we weren't ready to afford to have that tree taken down as well. Gene said that the job went so well, that he would take that tree down for free. Who in the world does anything for free these days? Talk about Honorable! Talk about someone I would totally trust! Hickey's Tree Service has my business for as long as I have trees, and I have probably 25 or more on my own property, plus all my neighbors are very timber-wealthy as well. The next morning I called them and a few minutes later Aaron (owner) showed up at our doorstep, assessed the damage, gave us pricing to report to insurance, got his people and equipment, and got to work to getting the tree down. It took a whole day and a huge crane to get the tree off the house. From there, he cleaned off the debris on the deck, put the tarp on the hole on the roof, and provided us updates on what's next.
