I regret going here every few years. I got take out. The 3rd star is for the 15 minutes it took for readiness. But if they are that fast, are they busy on a Saturday night at 5:30pm. No! The grease stinks and gave me stomach pains almost instantly after eating. I got the 3 piece beer batter and home fries. It was supposed to come with hush puppies and or roll with my dinner plate but never got them. Fish was soggy. I got one little tarter sauce that covered a half of piece. Hubby got a fish sandwich and could not finish because He got sick! Nothing was seasoned at all! I am very disappointed and will never go back ! read more

Best hush puppies anywhere, sweet potato fries are a must try, crab cakes divine. I always have the fried perch dinner. I haven't tried the wall-eye because it's on special days, and we usually go on Wednesday. Atmosphere is layed back, not too fancy, but warm and inviting. Try it! read more

Tims has been my go-to place for fish sandwiches for many years. After several years away, I recently stopped in to introduce the next generation to them. The fish was barely edible. It was so greasy. I couldn't even finish it. Plus, I had to visit the porcelain a couple times that night. I don't know what has happened but after so many years - I don't think I'll be back. read more

Very disappointing. I had heard of this place a few years back, when I was new to the area. Someone said they had the best fish in town. Wrong. The fish was undercooked and greasy. The clam chowder was thin and lacking flavor. I've had better chowder out of a can. The only redeeming thing was the cold beer read more

Went with a group of 7 people on a Thursday evening. We were seated immediately. Three of us ordered the lobster pasta Thursday special and we all said it was good. There are pieces of green, yellow, and red pepper in the sauce which gives the sauce a fairly heavy pepper flavor. I like bell peppers so it made the dish for me but if you are not a bell pepper fan this probably isn't the choice for you. I also ordered the bisque. I will say that the flavor of the "broth" could have been a bit creamier but in terms of actual meat in the soup I have never had any bisque that has come even close to the amount they put in. I would order the bisque again! Several people got the 2 piece fish and said it was outstanding. My son ate the kids chicken and French fries and the fries I stole from his plate were good (fresh cut). The kids meal was plentiful. Overall we all enjoyed our dinner and said we w hold definitely go back again. read more

I have been coming here since I can remember, I grew up in canton and my family and I would often visit for dine in and take out. After moving out of canton many years ago, I recently moved back closer and decided to try my childhood favorite again, I don't know if I went on a bad night or if this is the new standard but the fish was BEYOND greasy, so much that the breading was mush, it lacked in presentation and flavor and for the outrageous price for two pieces of fish and a side I would expect more. I probably will go back to give it another try but if it's like that again I won't be back. read more

This place has the best hush puppies in the world and wonderful service. Been many times and wow!

I have loved this place for years! My parents started bringing me here years ago. It's been a favorite of mine. Great fish! I used to get the fried fish, which is excellent but as I've gotten older, I try to eat healthier. So now I get the broiled seafood platter. It tastes great. I still get fried clamstrips with cocktail sauce. A little pricey but the food and atmosphere are great. read more

Tim's Tavern - Seafood Near Me - Canton, Ohio

Sunday is known as Coney's day at Tim's tavern.... Apparently April 25th the day after my birthday they weren't honoring their Coney special at least not for me I ordered 12 counties Nate took my order he comes back and tells me that they only have sauce for two now this was 12:15 okay they just opened up at 11:00 or 10:00 ...I know they hadn't sold that many coneys...I asked Nate how long will it be before she makes some more coney sauce... he states she's not making any today... okay so 3 coneys a@11.99 are you serious!!!! Mr. Murray I'll never come back to Tims ever again.... I guess it doesn't matter if your money is green ... Depending on where you go in Canton Ohio it's made very clear that they don't even want your money. read more

Tuesday fish tacos were good but fish was cold. Prefer Cole slaw base instead of lettuce. Shrimp lobster bisque soup amazing. Onion rings large but soggy. Wish they were cooked little longer. Service was rough just because two waitresses and they were busy and computers went down read more

Have been coming here for 30 years.. the food is still good on most occasions (depending on the night), but the service has steadily declined as of late...Tonight I came in on a Friday night at around 8:00 Pm with my family. All of the waitresses including the boss were sitting at one of the dining tables drinking pop and folding silverware, not paying any attention to the few guests that were in there. Through the course of the meal, I had to ask for a glass of water for my one year old, my wife had to ask for hush puppies (that have always come with the meal), and my glass of beer sat empty throughout my entire meal...It felt like we were inconveniencing every employee in the place because they were too intent on folding silverware and sending people home...I want to keep loving this place, but with service like this, I cannot do it anymore.. read more

I had the broiled scrod for lunch on Friday. It was really good. My dad had the fried perch and it was awful. There was no seasoning in the batter. Plus I don't think it was made to order because it was not crispy. Maybe they fried a big batch earlier that day and kept it under heat lamps. Very disappointing. read more

Upgraded Tim Tavern is famous for good food especially beer battered fish! Prices vary depending on your appetite and selections!! Lots of TVs and talking. Stylish table tops add a interesting look! There are two sections the bar side and much quieter section more upscaled section. That side could handle larger groups better! Food is fantastical! Parking is large close up! Restrooms are clean and newer fixtures. Our favorite place for Fish as we as a generous offering of many other great items!! Wednesday all day they give 25% off all food for those 65 and older!! NNIW THAT IS A GOOD OFFER FOR THE OLDER FOLKS that need a break on WEDNESDAY!! read more

Venice Beach? Oh no my friend, you're in the tropical restaurant known as Tim's Tavern. Established in 1957, this oasis in a box will brighten anyone's day from the moment you walk in the door. The main dining area features painted wall murals that reflect a realistic beach like environment. The glass block privacy windows helped shield my young eyes from the dismal world that is Canton while providing just the right amount of light. In fact, I had to rub my eyes twice to make sure I was still in Canton, luckily the Keno TV screen hanging in the sky above the beach brought me back to reality. After scanning the room for a few minutes it was clear that we were the youngest people in the room (by 30 years). I was alarmed at first, but then I reminded myself that I love the friendly banter of the elderly. Shortly after we sat down our waitress appeared with a big smile on her face and a perkiness to her chest. We were inquisitive about the lunch specials and she was very accommodating to our inquiries; it was like a match made in heaven! While waiting for our food to be served we enjoyed the witty writings of the publication "The Coffee News". Once our food arrived I was quick to notice the Mount Vesuvius portion of mashed potatoes on my plate. Simply spectacular! My two piece battered fish featured a beautiful golden-brown hue like that of a thoroughbred horse who just won the Belmont Stakes. As my mouth watered in anticipation and my eyes swelled up with joy, I immersed that flaky golden fish into the chilled tartar sauce and placed the fork into my mouth as a vortex of favor engulfed my taste buds sending them into a state of shock, and then bliss. Tim, you have done it once again! My fellow colleagues had a different experience than I did, even though we were sitting at the same table together. I can not... no... I WILL NOT express their loathing rants! Tim's Tavern brings to Canton what Estelle Getty brought to the Golden Girls, a bold and fresh feeling that is second to none. read more

This place was pretty much subpar at best and I'm only giving two stars because they do have great hush puppies to bad that is the only thing that was good that I had. To start off ordered the shrimp and crabmeat dip for a appetizer when it came out it was ice cold they forgot to microwave it and scooped what we had on our places and said they would bring a new one out. They just went back and zapped it and brought out the same one which made me a little a rig because they just straight up lied. For lunch ordered the crab cake Blt which was not good at all. The bun was way to big for this sandwich and the the sandwich basically had no taste at all pretty much a bland probably pre packaged crab cake served on a bun with a slice of bacon. I also ordered a side of Mac and Cheese it looked and tasted like something from a banquet frozen dinner so save your money. The only thing that I liked on the menu was the hush puppies I gotta give them credit on that they where awesome. Overall I was happy with my visit here mainly because the food that I had was mediocre and the staff messed up and didn't want to take responsibility or even offer to make things right. Place is also pretty outdated. read more

While working in the area, I treated a man to dinner who had contributed to my success. I was prepared for a fancier restaurant but he chose Tim's Tavern. He ordered a fish sandwich and I had a burger. Tims's is active, busy, noisy and fun. I was sad to learn that Tim, himself, died earlier this year, the sad end of a truly well-liked Canton citizen. The restaurant remains open in his memory and as his legacy. Prices are so affordable. Two can dine with sides for $12.00 read more

I love both the chicken and the fish. Hush puppies and hand cut fries are superstars.

I love the greasy fried fish that this place serves up. My parents have been coming here for many years.....they talk about the days when their fish was served on paper plates. In the past 30+ years it has become more and more popular with Canton folks. It reminds me of Lent as a kid when I was growing up- I looked forward to Fridays when we couldn't eat meat, because of this place. read more

So I lived in Canton until 1984 and frequented Tims a bunch. Recently was in town for a golf outing and boy has the food gone south there now. Had Beer Battered fish with fries both came out soggy and cold. The cole slaw was the highlight. Million miles from back in the day. read more

For a place that claims is "famous for fish", the fish I had was very subpar. My girlfriend and I arrived and found the decor to be odd to say the least. One wall had a giant childish murals of bumper cars and clowns while every other wall looks like a dated sports bar. The service was ok, I found it weird that I had to seat myself but other than that I had no complaints. Our food arrived pretty quickly which was great, but the fish the we both ordered was very bland and tasteless. It almost seemed like it had no seasoning on it whatsoever, also my fried fish seemed very dry, almost like it had been under a heat lamp. Overall, I don't think I would go back and if I did I would probably get something that wasn't fried from the menu. read more

The food has had it's ups and downs. But it's always classic good beer battered fish. Sadly the service here has been getting progressively worse over the last few years. Last time I was here with my dad we literally waited 20mins to pay after we were done eating. The waitress brought us our bill and then never came back. read more

Best fish in town. 10/10 would recommend to any Episcopalian or whatever you call those people who eat only fish.

Been going to this place since I was a little kid. Stopped in for lunch today and it hadn't changed a bit and that's a good thing. Had the burger special which was a great deal. The fish is definitely the draw here but everything here is really good and reasonably priced. If you're u want good food that is reasonably priced and served by friendly people this is defiantly the spot. read more

Everything on the menu is great. Some of my favorite items are firecracker shrimp, shrimp tacos, two piece fish dinner, onion rings, Cole slaw, hush puppies, tavern fries, and steak sandwich which is an actual steak cut up in chunks. Their soups are also to die for- shrimp lobster bisque and clam chowder. It's hard to choose between the two and I have never tasted better of either at any other restaurants, I even had the lobster bisque at Ruth's Chris steakhouse & wished I had Tim's soup! I have gotten food from here plenty of times in the past 6+ years or so and it's always consistent. Carry out was quick- 15 minutes. And the inside was packed when I picked it up. Tim's is as good as ever. Definitely the spot in canton for yummy bar food and good quality fried seafood. A lot of the servers have been there for years & are quick & attentive. Prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. I would say 99% of the food is made from scratch, and that is evident! read more

Found this place on yelp and was unsure by the looks of the outside but food was fresh and delish! We were visiting Canton area so no idea where to eat. I had the special baked scrod on bed of zucchini noodles and green beans for the side. The green beans were fresh and cooked just right. I was pleasantly surprised! Cost was reasonable. Our server was nice and attentive. I would revisit. read more

I was somewhat hesitant because of the reviews indicating this place had gone downhill with the change in ownership to try it. But it was very good. Yes they have tweeted the menu a bit and prices are higher but with labor costs going up that's true everywhere I was very happy with the 3 meals we had. The chowder was great. Hush puppies with honey butter delicious. Pam our waitress excellent. Another positive was they replaced the blinds at the windows. The previous owners had never cleaned the slats and eating dinner seeing years of dirt a few feet away never complimented my meal and made me wonder what the kitchen looked like New owners are doing a great job. Nice discount for seniors on wednesdays too read more

Great Service, Great Food. I get the Fish Sandwich and the Wife gets the Cobb Salad. We both leave happy read more

The food is pretty good but the service is terrible. Waitresses are not attentive and rude. This last time we were there the service was so bad I could feel the tension. The waitress however was smiling and laughing at us, like she was proud of the bad service she was giving us, seriously. I'm proud of myself and my family for not exploding. read more

We have been fans of Tim's fish for over 40 years, but no more. The last three visits have not been up to Tim's standards; under cooked fish, soggy crust, and smaller portions. Friends and relatives have had similar experiences. Will not return. Dick and Karen Kaufman read more

Have been to this place many times but more often as a when I was younger. Decided to come back on Sunday evening for dinner and it was awful. Service was bad, meals were not delivered together because the cook made a mistake, one of my sides was served cold and the other was forgotten, the wrap looked like they had wrapped a tortilla around a wedge of iceburg lettuce, the fish was nowhere to be found. Left a review on facebook and instead of trying to fix the situation the owner decided to hurl insults at me instead. AVOID THIS PLACE! NOT THE PLACE IT USED TO BE. read more

Although, HIGHLY RATED for their BEER BATTER SEAFOOD (and I agree), Steak, Yes, Steak is also at the TOP of my list of recommended Food Fair in Canton, Ohio. Mom and I were on such a tight schedule, yesterday (Sunday) that we decided to stop at a familiar place for the first time on Sunday. Man we were overjoyed with a delectable surprise. "STEAK DINNER for 2" at a surprisingly low cost of $12.99. It was the very BEST 6oz steak we've ever had that came with 2 delectable sides. (I had the REAL mashed potatoes and grilled in garlic butter asparagus). Mom had the green beans and baked potato. With an Iced Tea and Dr. Pepper the Bill came to $17+. If you're looking or that out-of-the-way (as far as tradition) place to dine on Sunday, Tim's gets a 5 STAR rating from me. read more

Went there 03/12/10 during lunch with my wife and 2 year old, friendly waitstaff, great atmosphere, and great food. I went to Tim's because I heard about there famous fish. I was disappointed with the atmosphere, quality of food and service. COD was the only fish available on the menu after trying to order walleye or catfish.Once dinner came out food was very bland no taste,no seasoning.Needless to say I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I grew up in Canton so we had Tim's fish often on Friday nights for a treat "back in the 50's and 60's". Always enjoyed it. Over the years, the quality fell off for one reason or another so when I heard recently that the "original recipe" was back, I couldn't wait to try, as I hadn't been there in over 20 years. We went on Wednesday, senior citizen discount, and both ordered the two piece fish meal with onion rings, coleslaw, and green beans. Got a side of the hushpuppies as well. Now when I compare fish dinners, my #1 standard is Mike's Place in Kent, about 25 miles north of Canton. With Tim's, the portions were a bit smaller, but flavor was good. The server was excellent and very personable. The onion rings were very large and plentiful. The coleslaw had very little flavor and zero heat. The green beans were a bit less than average. To be fair, this meal is less expensive than Mike's Place, but for fish, I'll take Mike's any day. The hushpuppies were not to my taste. read more

Like many others, I remember my Dad bringing that wonderful greasy fish home as a kid. I still love seafood, and since moving back to Canton this past year, I am always searching for a restaurant with good fish. My meal was disappointing; the waitress was rude, and by then, my appetite was gone. I did order some food to take home. The pieces were very small, but fish was nice and firm. Clam strips looked good and were larger than usual, but unfortunately too leathery. Maybe because they were thicker strips. Onion rings had good review from my husband. The two stars were for the courtesy of the Manager, Tim's son. He was polite and did in fact remove the rejected dinner from my bill. He was very nice, but the food simply was not good -- even the cole slaw was gummy and hush puppies over-cooked. I'm not saying I will never go back, but it is unlikely. Karen S. read more

My friends and I from out of town visiting the Hall of Fame wanted something close after a drive and 18 holes of golf. We were looking for a great meal with large portions at a great price. Tim's was right on the mark. There were 7 of us and the service was fast and right on point. It was a Saturday night, several got the Fish Fry all you can eat, others got other seafood specials one or two got burgers. All left very satisfied. They also had a lot of beers on tap and prices for draft beer were great value as well. Cannot believe this place only had 3.5 stars. Lets go Yelpers!!! read more
