So we went to Timothy's for lobster... none left by 7 pm reservation! So if this is why you go - book early. Then we ordered 3 apps. 1 came out and then nothing else for like 20 minutes. Finally other apps came. We had ordered for 4 adults and 2 children. Children's dinner came out while we're having apps. Roasted tomato soup has liquid smoke or something in it. Not good. 1/2 hour later our dinners came out. So kids were done and we were just starting. Waitress was nice enough, but very, very slow. For the money go elsewhere!! read more

In an era when many establishments draw your attention first to beer, wine, and/or liquor, how delightful it is to find a place that focuses first on food. While I'm only a third-time Harbor-County vacationer, Timothy's strikes me as a place you don't want to miss if you're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a truly excellent meal. Ours included: *Grilled Iceberg Wedge Salad for Therese H. *a half Timothy's Salad for me (the Toasted Pine Nuts, Golden Raisins, Gorgonzola Cheese and Scallions, tossed in Sweet Mustard Vinaigrette all together was so delicious that I never once thought of taking a photo). *Dad's Fish & Chips for T.H. (gluten free, which makes T.H. happy). *Coconut-Macadamia-Nut Crusted Grouper with pan-seared spinach, garlic chips, grapefruit butter, and mashed potatoes on the side. *GF Michigan Fruit Dessert for T.H. While the focus was not first on alcoholic beverages, I'm pleased to say that Timothy's has a full bar. We had a nice Sauvignon Blanc with the meal, and while Therese H. ate her dessert, I sipped a "New Old Fashioned" (pictured). It was the basil syrup that made this one special. I was also happy that the "king" ice cube was supported in its float by a good quantity of beverage ingredients, unlike a few places where the ingredients seemed to be placed with an eye dropper around some fancily shaped glacier in a glass. Among other things, I liked the fact that I could make a reservation through my Yelp app. I liked our server Randy. I liked the décor (especially the large industrial-like light bulbs set into track lighting) and the fact Chef Timothy made an appearance for some of his regulars wearing his white chef's jacket and shorts (sort of a summer California-casual look). But what really impressed me were the Covid-19 safety precautions, including a simple paper bag for each arriving party with hand sanitizer, a white-paper sleeve to place a charge card in for nearly contactless payment, and the Covid-19 mission statement (pictured). We've taken three road trips this summer, from Michigan to Illinois to Mississippi, and this was the best thing we've seen: a simple, thoughtful, caring philosophy practiced by all the staff with whom we interacted or were able to observe. Whatever your health concern, if you're looking for one restaurant at which you'd take a risk during our current pandemic, I think this might be the one for you. Manger didn't care about my food being made wrong, had 1 bite of each and she tried telling me I ate half, and this place charges a "restaurant service fee". The worst food ever I was sooo hungry, and I waited for a very long time the service was great and they where all super kind. The first thing that came out was the salads and they were ok. Then we waited for a hour and we were super hungry. We ask for bread because we are starving, and it took about 30 mins to get the food. Then when got the food it was gross. One of my kids got Mac n cheese and she thought it was gonna be regular and good mac & cheese, but it was cold craft mac & cheese. Then we got the bill and it was expensive. They did not take the bill and we just wanted to leave. Overall, I think you guys should not come here and it was very disgusting. Timothy's is exemplary. It has never disappointed. If we have company in town and want to treat them to a very special dinner this is where we go. The atmosphere is lovely. Choose your experience ~~ outdoor dining, beautiful dining room, or, casual bar. The food is so very special. I've never been to a restaurant where the chef/owner is always visible, sometimes visiting each guest's table to check on their satisfaction. Timothy's delicious flavors are evident in every entree. This is the reason you go to chef driven restaurants. This is also the reason that his unique and yummy dressings are actually bottled and sold. I recommend you try Timothy's yourself. It is easy to do this time of year because the restaurant runs amazing off season specials. I also recommend you make reservations because they've always been crowded when we are there. read more

Had a beautiful dinner here tonight. We sat in the second/back room which was bright, pleasant, and quiet for conversation. (The front room was bustling, a little noisier, and had a musician playing guitar and singing.) We enjoyed the cauliflower appetizer which was gluten-free (except for the dipping sauce so they kindly brought me a different sauce). The roasted tomato soup had dimension. The clam chowder was pleasantly spicy. We both had the walleye with a fresh berry sauce, mashed potato/sweet potato, and arugula salad. Beautifully plated and perfectly cooked. Delicious food. Fresh ingredients, complex and slightly different flavors. Great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. read more

Very pleasurable experience! My husband and I made a reservation for 830p, but waited to be sat until almost 9. However, the fact that we did not get right in with our reservation didn't even matter because the manager, Anthony, was so great and got everything started for us, even gave us a free appetizer for having to wait. Our server, Sylvia, was very apologetic for running behind, but she stopped to say hi and make sure we knew she knew about us. She was amazing the entire night and we truly appreciated the service we received tonight! And the food.. delicious! It was well worth the wait! read more

Worst food EVER! The server was fine, but it took over an hour to get the food. For waiting over an hour for food you would expect it to be amazing, but NO! It was horrible and made me sick. The chicken wasn't breaded all the way, Mac n cheese was cold, and they gave me the wrong fries. The one good thing was the bread, and it was a very little amount for 5 people.They only brought 2 straws to the table, leaving the 3 other guests without straws. What a lovely spot. Nice atmosphere, everyone wearing a mask and you sign a contact sheet (except the bartender had a real problem keeping his mask on). dishes were absolutely creative and delightful. The puréed drinks were amazing. Will definitely be returning to this Three Oaks spot. read more

My in-laws got us a gift card which prompted us to try Timothy's and I am so glad we did! We tend to go to the same places when we are in the New Buffalo area and I'm glad we got to try something new, this will be a new favorite spot. I had no idea the menu had so much Asian influence, but was thrilled with the selections and choices! Lots of great, interesting twists on classic dishes. I understand this is a newer spot and the picture windows overlooking the patio are great! Can't wait to dine this summer outside. We started with a cocktail and glass of sparkling rose along with the Brussels sprouts and spring rolls. Both were awesome! The Brussels sprouts are so light and crispy, all the leaves are removed and they have a great flavor as well. The spring rolls were also delicious, they are topped with a wasabi aioli which gave them a great kick. They were heavier than I expected, more like an egg roll but still super delicious and a good sized portion. We each got the salad option with dinner. My husband had the grilled Caesar and I had the Asian grilled Caesar. These were out of this world! I know it's a salad, but the grilling really made it! They are huge too, I ate way too much! I loved the flavors of the Asian Caesar too, so yummy! For dinner I had the Thai sea bass and my husband had the cedar plank halibut. Both were cooked to perfection. The Asian salad, sauce, and rice with mine were so good! I couldn't stop eating it but I was so full lol! We couldn't make room for dessert although I wish we could! I was in the area for the weekend and this place was recommended on every list. Unfortunately, I was pretty underwhelmed. They are taking COVID precautions pretty seriously here, even asking each guest to fill out a card with their name and contact info in the event they need to do contact tracing. I had an 8:15pm reservation for 1 on a Saturday night. I got seated at the least desirable table, which I think any single diner would expect. However, there were weird odors that would waft my way every so often. Not enough to be unpleasant, but it was certainly noticable. I started with a vodka martini with fresh mango puree. It was delicious! I highly recommend. I was asked for my dinner order pretty quickly and was worried that my entree would come out fast and I would be rushed through my meal, but thankfully that did not happen. My salad with the mustard vinaigrette was lovely. albiet small. For my entree, I orderd the grilled rib eye. My first disappointment was with the "Truffle Pommes Frites." They appeared to be frozen french fries tossed in some truffle oil. For this place and the price, I would expect hand cut fries. The steak was on top of them, which was awkward when it came time to actually cut the steak. The chilled asapargus was lovely, but did not really seem to go with the dish. The steak itself was terribly disappointing. For starters, it was undercooked. I ordered medium, and it was clearly medium rare. The steak also lacked flavor. The menu says it is "herb crusted" but I did not see or taste any herbs. There was butter on top which melted and then soaked into the fries underneath and therefore did not give the steak much flavor. There is sauce on the plate, but it was really more of a decoration than a part of the dish. In retrospect, I should have asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries and I should have sent the steak back. The flourless chocolate cake for dessert was delicious. Coffee was fantastic. Service was acceptable, although I had to keep asking for water refills. At one point, another employee noticed that my water was empty and brought me a fresh glass. That was very nice. If I were to return, I would likely stick to drinks, appetizers, and desserts. read more

We celebrated our 7th anniversary here at Timothy's! Overall the food was great! We tried a couple drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. The calamari was very tender. Lamb was delicious. My husband got the salmon which also good. And both desserts were yummy too. Drinks were strong but yummy! Only thing we didn't care for was the Brussel sprout leaves and salad was a bit heavy on the dressing side. The atmosphere was great! Nicely decorated inside. I work in Hospitality so it was double delightful for me to be seated and enjoying a beautiful dinner. All were extremely extremely OVERSALTED AND INEDIBLE. The saltiness even overpowered the salad dressings. Every dish was swimming in an odd orange oily sauce (even visible in their photo gallery). Presentation messy and dishes looked as if half eaten when served. Yuck! Waitress tried hard to have us upgrade and order add-ons. Even adding to order when we said NO. No wonder restaurant was half empty on what should have been a busy evening in July. Hands down - the worst meal we had in and around New Buffalo, MI. Avoid. read more

Have visited only twice and the first time our poor server had no voice, so ordering was a little difficult. The food was good once we were able to get the order put in. It was a little loud, but not excessive. The second time we met friends and the noise level was horrible. Had to yell to hear each other. Again, the food was great. So, if you are looking for a low key, quiet experience, this is not the place. If you want good food and don't mind noise, Timothy's is your place. Both visits we had OK service. read more

I am sitting in the restaurant waiting for my order that our party of 8 placed 90 minutes earlier. Our server has not been to our table for 45 minutes. We talked to the manager, who brought out cold entrees 10 minutes later. The restaurant looks great but the food and service is awful. My advice is stay clear of this place and visit other establishments in the area. This place is overpriced and by far the most awful service I have experienced in my life. Where is Timothy? Is he a real person or just a name they use to draw you into this place. Stay clear of this place when you visit Michigan. read more

We have been going to Timothy's from the time that it was located in the Gordon Beach Inn. Although the menu was pricey, the quality of the food, and the excellent preparation and presentation delighted us. Our last meal in the Inn was marred by inadequate service, with a less than competent and poorly trained server. So, I looked forward when Timothy's moved into the former Miller's restaurant, also in Union Pier. A larger venue, it seemed to have staffing problems as well initially. I took my wife there for her birthday and we were seated next to a very large (20 people) party. We got our appetizer, a very nicely prepared "bang bang" shrimp, but then sat for over a hour waiting for our main courses. We called over our server and said we were leaving, and wished to pay for what we had eaten. The manager came over and was very apologetic and explained that the kitchen was understaffed and was not able to cope with the number of diners that had been booked. He was very nice, and packed up entrees and dessert to go, and gave us his card to call so that he could insure that we would have a much different experience the next time we dined at the restaurant. Time passed, and we hadn't gone back, then Covid intervened. Fast forward to 2023, and we decided to give Timothy's another try on a Thursday night. It was a very hot day and night, and the hostess advised us to sit in the bar area of the restaurant, where it was cooler and less noisy (there was no wait to be seated for our 7:45 pm reservation). Our waitress came to the table immediately and was very friendly, informative about the menu, and very competent. I had good memories of bang bang shrimp from the last time we were at Timothy's and we ordered that as our appetizer. Despite the heat, I remembered that the soup preparation at this restaurant was superb, and indeed, the clam chowder was excellent. My wife had the small dinner salad nicely dressed with a blue cheese dressing. she had the cedar planked halibut and I had the coconut crusted grouper. Both entrées were clearly delivered piping hot from the kitchen, beautifully presented. Both fishes were perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. This meal erased any misgivings we might've had for past missteps. Yes, this is downtown Chicago pricing, but with the competence and flair to match. There is no question that this is the best restaurant in the harbor country area and I recommend it highly. read more

This is a top-rated and expensive restaurant that was once a wonderful place to dine in all respects. So we were extremely disappointed to return for a special occasion and experience abominable service. We waited forever for water and silverware, eventually getting up to get it ourselves or ask our server, since she made no eye contact with us (once she got our order) and didn't check on us at all. (The young man who actually brought our food was delightful! Wish he had been our server.) She didn't know something we asked about on the menu and seemed bored by the whole thing, rather than offer to go ask the kitchen what the confit consisted of. Second round of drinks? What's that? There were other problems, but it's all just first world issues anyway. The food was great, so good job Timothy keeping the quality there. And the garden is lovely. But train your staff much better, please, to reflect the potential of your space, and to show respect to your customers. I was truly embarrassed to bring someone here to celebrate, after making a big deal about how wonderful this restaurant was, just to be basically ignored and treated like an afterthought, especially paying $40 a plate. Great food, service and lively atmosphere. Its hard to believe that such a roaring success can exist for 20 years with the seeming limited dollars along Red Arrow Highway. It exceeded all our Chicago-restaurant expectations and was just what we were looking for. An upgrade alternative to William B's in the casino. Great wine list. The chef was thoughtful and creative without being esoteric. Loads of fun at a high top in the bar. We enjoyed some of the rowdy guests celebrating birthdays around us, but the food was the main event. We liked the flash fried brussel sprouts appetizer, grilled romaine ceasar salad, steak with "any seafood", and key lime pie (served either way). read more

This was a terrible experience. The waiter couldn't remember who got what drinks or food and was very slow. We had to flag her down multiple times. Told us Pom frittes is fried cheese even tho we told her it's French fries and we ended up with 2 helpings of frozen crinkle cut French fries... our friend got lobster pasta with no lobster and the waiter told us there was lobster when it was literally a tomato. Our other friend didn't like her margarita... waiter brought us another margarita and insisted she drink it even tho she didn't want it. When we asked for the manager, manager only did what was expected which was to not pay for food we didn't eat and drink. Went for the Wednesday night lobster special. After ordering drinks and an appetizer, we were told they were out of lobsters. They tried to sell us a $40 lobster pasta instead, but didn't offer any other substitutions. This was at 7:30, 2 1/2 hours after they opened. Spoke to the chef/ manager who pretty much told us "too bad, these things happen ". They don't seem to care too much about their patrons, I would suggest bypassing this establishment and trying one of the other restaurants in that area read more

a wonderful Waygu steak, shoutout to Anthony on charbroil & John (the manager on duty) who quickly had my meal corrected when it came out with a sauce I asked for on the side. I had the pleasure of meeting Brian, a new member of the bar staff - he was kind, pleasant and had good conversation! he was training, and the young woman Bethany who was supposed to be doing so was very unpleasant- especially towards her trainee. the cause for my order being wrong was entirely at the hands of her, as he had it all typed in, and rather than making it a teachable moment she took over on the computer and sent my first course properly. however, she did not re-enter my special instructions that the bartender had in. whatever, all was corrected & enjoyed once I received it. my real concern, however is that I watched her grab handfuls of cherries at one point, without gloves - in addition to king ice cubes, repeatedly. not once did she ever wash her hands.... just ran a little water and wiped them on the towel they were using to polish glasses. I was there for just under two hours! I am so glad she was not making my drinks. It is always difficult to be a patron when you're in the industry, but especially when you're trying to treat yourself to an expensive meal after a long day of travel + sun at the beach and witness some disrespect and sheer hygiene negligence out of someone who is receiving your hard-earned dollars. alas, I'll be looking forward to catching Brian on my next visit or opting for a table if it's just her. read more

We have been going here for a couple of years now and enjoy the atmosphere, food and drinks. The fashionable old man is w my favorite drink there, not too sweet. I usually stick with fish for a main and am not disappointed. The zucchini blossoms are a fun started and the crème brûlée is a great way to end a meal. If you are a group of 6 they tend to stick you in a round table booth. I am big and tall and it feels cramped. read more

First off the food wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. When the bill came we noticed a charge of $0.50 per olive in a dirty martini. Never seen that and another in our party was charged for her drink and then also for the soda in her drink! The 3% "sustainability" charge on the whole bill was quite laughable!
