I bought a 2 pack groupon for a facial with Jodi. As other reviews say nothing fancy to the salon, but that's fine by me, service is what you are paying for. I had a really hard time scheduling (had to call/text multiple times) and the owner had a fairly abrasive attitude. Facial itself was lovely and Jodi is great! I had a horrific reaction to the facial, major cystic acne breakout, etc. Have had several facials and never anything like this. I left a message to cancel my future appointment, despite the fact I once again called during "business hours", explained what happened etc. No one ever contacted me. They also did not ask what more normal skin routine was, etc before the facial. Guess they don't care I had a bad experience. Yesterday I I purchased a Groupon for Timothy's A Spa claiming to be a Custom Rejuvenation Facial for 60 minutes stated in the description and today I redeemed. I paid $50 for a value of $125. IT WAS A TOTAL JIP AND WASTE OF MONEY. The so it says "hour facial" took approximately 20 minutes. I kid you not...I arrived at 1:45 for my appointment and was walking out of the building by 2:11. I also was very upfront with letting my esthetician know that I had never before gotten any treatments and she then proceeded to say she would be doing microdermabrasion, followed by a chemical peel, then it ended with dermaplaning. I left and spoke with SEVERAL friends and coworkers who frequent these types of services and they said it is just not possible to do all of that in twenty minutes. Needless to say, they then tried to sell me on a package of 4 for $400. Who in their right minds would pay $400 for not even 20 minutes a session. Not to mention, it did NOTHING for my skin. Timothy came on-site to do my makeup for my daughter's wedding. He also did makeup for the Mother of the Groom, My 86-year-old mom, and some other young women in their 20s. He did an absolutely beautiful job on everyone. It's easy to make a 20 something look good, but he made the 60-year-olds and the 86-year-old look fabulous well. The makeup was done in a way that made us all look beautiful but natural. He has been doing makeup for years and you can tell and he is a pleasure to work with! read more

This is not a fancy spa with amazing decor. The place is pretty small but staff were very kind and professional. I bought a groupon to try out airbrush tan. It was a pleasant surprise! Color turns out to be amazing and the process was very simple. I don't know why someone would pay for machine spray tan instead of airbrush tan. I would definitely come back again for sure!! My friend convinced me to buy a Groupon for Timothy's to use on our day off work, and the last thing I was expecting was to fall in love with this place. It's nestled in the middle of Madeira, and if you don't look for it, you probably don't even know it exists. After parking in the two-car lot and venturing down a flight of stairs to the basement of a house, it was easy to feel a little off-put by the simple decor (or lack thereof). My friend and I were quickly swept away to our rooms, and left looking better than ever. I was fortunate enough to get assigned to Jodie, who assured me she could do wonders for my acne-prone skin. I must've drove her crazy, because I asked questions the entire time (hey, what do you expect from a then-facial virgin?). She was extremely knowledgable, friendly and knew exactly how to treat my face. She even gave me at-home tips and treatments, which has helped clear up my skin even more. Unlike other spas, Timothy's does the whole shabang -- microdermabrasion, dermplaning (scraping of the face with a surgical blade, which, is oddly soothing), chemical peel and microcurrent. Longtime(3years+) customer here. Always loved the service I received from Timothy. My skin never looked better under his care as he is a very knowledgable professional and really knows skin. The best facials I've ever experienced with lasting results. Why one star? Tim's sister, Karen, runs all facets of this business, refuses to operate a computer and does all paperwork and scheduling by hand(leading to debatable errors) in addition to only scheduling appointments via text yet never returning requests. Previous reviews are accurate when they state that it takes numerous attempts to get a response in scheduling. I got an amazing facial with techniques not normally done at most spas when you go for typical facials. An older woman from the Ukraine gave the facial and was great. I purchased a groupon as a gift for my mom and am very upset to hear that she was treated so rudely by the receptionist lady there. My mom said that she was never even greated properly with a hello. The lady was short and rude with even rescheduling the appointment. My mom had to reschedule the appointment as she had a very hard time finding the place and was late. I am thankful as I don't want her getting a facial at a place where they don't know customer service. My mom doesn't even want to go back to that place. I purchased a facial from Timothy's off of livingsocial on a whim hoping to find a great facial at a great price. While it was initially pretty hard to get in for the initial facial - scheduling an initial appointment can be a task - I was more than satisfied with the results. Not only did he give me a wonderful, professional facial, but provided me with a lot of great advice and product lines to help my skin care needs. Within two weeks all of my skin woes were no more! He also remembers all of the little details about me and my needs from session to session and always provides thorough explanations of his techniques and offers great suggestions for my home skincare. Timothy is fantastic, I highly recommend this spa! Another note: after the initial scheduling, it becomes much easier to schedule your appointment. I gave Timothy's A Spa a generous 3 Stars because Jodi gives a very good facial. However, I will not be returning and here's why. The person who is the receptionist or front desk person or whatever she is (she never really introduced herself) was awful. I had purchased a Groupon for a facial and while scheduling was not easy via text messaging, the actual service was good. That is until it was completed and I was handed over to that woman. She was not pleasant in the least and tried a hard sell to get me to buy hundreds of dollars worth of future facials at a price that was good that day only. I had not even seen my skin in a mirror yet! And I would always wait a couple of days to ensure that I did not have an adverse reaction. Maybe if she had said that Groupon clients had 3 or 5 days to purchase the package I might have considered it but I was so turned off by my brief interaction with her that I will not be going there again. As an aside, there is nothing spa-like in the atmosphere of this basement business. I even had to walk through wet tar to get to the door. Good customer service would have put a sign on their door. Great customer service would have been a call or text as a heads up to clients with an appointment that day. read more

I bought a 2 pack groupon for myself and my Mom for Mothers Day. Since I have never had one of these I thought it might be worthwhile based on what the "owner(Karen) who is also the secretary and receptionist?" had recommended. I had a very difficult time scheduling an appointment and I had called 3 times with no answer and no call back. Oddly enough, Karen sent me a nasty and rude text as though I was personally bothering her(FOR MY BUSINESS). This company obviously has issues with customer service and they have no intention of honoring the Groupons when they sell them. Their track record speaks for itself for the past 3-4 years with similar problems and issues from the owner/front desk person. Don't waste your time on this one. I did however buy a microdermabrasion pkg from one of their competitors and I would strongly encourage everyone to patronize their competitor(s). With such a poor track record of not responding to customers this company needs to reorganize their leadership team. The front office/receptionist needs to be fired or at least retrained on how to provide good professional customer service. A customer should NEVER have to call numerous times to get an appointment and definitely should not have to send a text message to schedule an appointment. I just returned for my second visit to Timothy...he is fabulous! The facial services which I received were so great the first visit, I just had to go back for more. His custom facial includes many different techniques, including microdermabrasion, glycolic treatment, microcurrent, and more, and the combination proved to have great results for my skin. It's a quiet, tucked away location, Timothy and Karen are both very accommodating, they provide answers to all the questions I ask, and give suggestions and tips on skincare and makeup without bothering or pressuring in any way. While Timothy does a wonderful job with facials, the customer service needs to improve dramatically. I have consistently had difficulty scheduling appointments and having phone calls returned. I have taken vacation time for appointments only to find that my appointment was never scheduled. Recently, it took over a week to return my phone calls and to finally schedule an appointment. My appointment was wrote down for the wrong date (at least it was wrote down this time). I have truly never worked so hard at trying to give someone my business. Timothy is absolutely AMAZING. It's always insanely scary trusting someone else with your most valuable feature--your face-- but he is absolutely wonderful. I just went for my first time last night and already my face feels amazing. He took the time to talk with me, really evaluate my skin and recommend products for me to buy online or at Cincinnati Natural Foods that he doesn't even make commission on ...are in no way associated with his spa! I never write a review but this one I could not hold myself, ladies you need to know and be carefully where you are going, I am not sure what the previous reviewer is talking about but the environment is very very disappointing ( unless it is the pwner putting that review) . It is in a smelly delabrated basement. The treatment room is not calming at all you are surrounded by pipes ( water and gaz pipes in the ceiling) , the paints on the walls is falling. The machine and instruments they use are so old and dirty that you will be worried catching an infection. As far as people (LOL): the lady who did the facial was nice yes, but the owner is arrogant, not welcoming and direspectful .I am not sure how long she is going to keep up with her business. She has nothing to count on except offering a good customer service since the rest is bad , and she is not even trying that. I feel bad for her , she will be staying in her basement for a long long time, there are many other cleaner and nicer spas in the city I would rather be at ( FOR THE SAME PRICE) . It is a small family owned business and they could not handle the calls they were getting and the customers.
