Gracie talked me out of chopping my long hair off and doing some face-framing layers and I'm so glad she did (my hair was just dry and tangled from zero maintenance and not getting cut for like a year). Went to another salon for a mommy make over and ended up getting my hair fried off. So happy I found this salon. After 3 visits and a few treatments (acidic bonding) my hair was looking fabulous. I honestly had no idea how to salvage it but thankful with her guidance I started looking and feeling like myself again. Exactly what I was hoping for from a mommy makeover. We walked into this location after I spent of time looking for a salon for my curly haired teen, who decided she needed a pixie cut, while we were on vacation. The salon is small but was very clean and welcoming. They had a good selection of product and did not push anything on us at the end of our appointment. Our stylist listened to what my daughter wanted and made sure we understood exactly what she was going to do. At the end my daughter was over the moon with her cute and it made her day. read more

Getting my hair cut is something I almost never look forward to, because it's such a time commitment - but my time at Timothy John's today made it much more bearable. They gave me a call before my appointment to let me know they were running behind and let me know I could come about 15 minutes later, which is so courteous. The salon is clean, cool, and follows Covid precautions. They are very busy - so be ready for at least a little wait. The price point was friendly - and worth every cent. Gabriel cut my hair and he was friendly, professional, quick, and I love my hair. He listened to what I wanted and he made it happen. I would (and will) easily go back to his chair anytime I want to get my hair done. read more

I stopped by to inquire about curly hair cuts. As I went to the front door the boy behind the reception desk, looked at me through the door and there was a face of disgust -- like how dare I think I can go there. He let me in and when I asked him how much does a haircut cost for my length of hair he said $85, but then added that they have low-end stylists. Are you kidding me? I make more than you and I've lived in Hell's Kitchen before you were a twinkle in your mother's eye, a REAL New Yorker born /raised and the folks at Timothy John's Salon, is snubbing m? What the heck is a low-end stylists? I passed by again yesterday -- I live in the area and looked in to see if there are customers; the same boy looked at me through the glass with disdain. I don't know who owns Timothy John's, but if your workers are prejudice, give them a ticket back to where they belong! This is Manhattan and his attitude does not belong here.. read more

Fabulous experience! Was recommended to Timothy John's by a colleague. I use a wheelchair and needed a fully accessible salon. Everything is very accessible, including the bathroom, and everyone who works at the salon is also very accommodating and helpful. I felt welcome from the first moment, and met David the co-salon owner. Chatted with a few different people, all very friendly. Then Gracey, my stylist, was fabulous! Super kind, and did a fabulous job on my blonde highlights, which were pretty messy when I came in. She refreshed my look to be very natural, with a stylish cut to boot. I'm in from out of town so the price was a little more than I am used to, but well worth it!! I will definitely come back when I'm in NY. read more

Hahaha I love how they say I didn't mention my dog was a service animal. So funny! After the lady said they don't allow pets I told her he's my service dog, she asked me whether I had documentation and a vest which is NOT needed for a service dog. She was rude to me! Why do I write only 1 star reviews? Because I don't have time for reviews and the only time I write one is when the service was REALLY REALLY bad, which is what happened in this case. Such liars. I wouldn't go to a business where they can't own up to their mistake. Why I moved my appointment 15 times is none of your business. Maybe you should ask yourself why I have a service dog? I have health issues, so joke on you for questioning somebody who lives with chronic pain everyday. Hope you feel happy with yourself. Liars. Also for reference another thing you should be aware of as business owners since you are not familiar with the law And somebody standing up for their rights is not "causing a scene". Please familiarize yourself with the law. That's what a good business owner would do and stop accusing customers of lying about their disability and service animal it is incredibly unprofessional. read more

BEWARE! Actual price twice as much as quote after in-person consultation, and charged 100+ for a three-minute trimming after I clearly said no! Timothy did do a good job with my blonding. Before my session, I sent pics of my hair as well as going for an in-person consultation to get a quote, which was around 350. That made me decide to go with it without looking too much into other places. I made it clear I was there only for the blonding. My hair color came off pretty quickly (as Timothy said during the process), but ended up getting charged almost twice as much as the quote bcs all the 'extra product and extra time' he had to put in. It's hard to imagine someone with almost 20 years' experience will be SO off with estimates. Just before drying my hair, Timothy asked if I wanted to cut my hair, I clearly said no. I said I'd go to my usual person. He went ahead anyways and trimmed my hair within three minutes saying I had split ends and he wanted to take care of. Ok, what he didn't mention and didn't ask consent on was charging 100+ for just trimming. After the session I tried to communicate with Timothy about the charge, he in turn asked me to bring three more customers in so that he could give me the 100+ for trimming as credit. No, I won't feel comfortable bringing my friends here. Good results, but with this price point there are lots of good colorists out there. What Timothy did left a very bad impression of his business practice and ethics. read more

I've been a regular customer of Caitlin at Timothy John's Salon for several years now for both haircuts and a single process. Caitlin takes her time and really listens (trim more here, less there, etc.) -- I've never felt rushed. The salon is so welcoming and friendly, its like seeing good friends every visit. The new location is beautiful - light and airy, with lots of space between the chairs for social distancing and plexiglass dividers between chairs in the wash and the heat lamp/dryer areas.
