If I can give a negative rating I would. I have no idea how people can rate this place above 1 star. Johnny greets you along with the entire hair salon the second you walk in because the place is 4x7. Aside from it being small, after all, it is all about the talent...right?! So, I kept an open mind, as this was my first (and LAST) time I will ever go there again..! Anyway, I described exactly what I wanted and exactly what I did not want (a solid dark color). I walked into the salon with beautiful caramel highlights and chocolate brown hair and wanting a quick color cover-up on my roots to treat a few grey pieces... The color was applied sloppy and in huge chunks, along with Johnny's assistant who obviously takes direction from him, so it was a complete free for all, sloppy mess (and I'm being humble!). Still, I sat back and let them do their thing.. I'm not a colorist, didn't want to be judgmental, and everyone has different ways of getting results. So, I continued on, and tried to relax, leaving my trust in Johnny's "talented" hands. After 40 minutes for the color to set in, I was ready for shampoo. The shampoo seats are super comfortable, (that was the utopia of my entire experience). After washing my hair I was excited to see my color....it was BLACK! Looked like box color black! The first thing I said during the consult was "I Do Not Want a solid color and do not want black. I'd like a soft brown so my highlights will shine through...."
Continuing on to this nightmare experience, I am assisted to my seat for a haircut with another stylist. OK, fine. No big deal.. but the woman was a major miserable bitch and didn't even ask what I wanted. And the infamous colorist Johnny, didn't even come by to look at his so called professional color job. As I sat in the chair, completely angry and upset that I had black witch hair, I thought to myself... Maybe a cut will help make this horrible dye job look better. Although the woman was unpleasant, she looked pregnant so I shrugged off her attitude and gave her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she wasn't feeling well, or having a bad day. So once again, I bit my tongue and let the music play on.. Before a brush even touched my newly washed and colored hair - I had 2 hair dryers drying my hair into knots. I understand stylists do cut hair when it's dry based on what type of style you choose - but all I wanted was a simple straight trim (about 2 inches). You don't cut hair completely dry for a straight trim! Words were exchanged and I basically refused any further "services".. I was told to come back in 2-3 weeks, that my color would wash up and I would be happy with my color.
My sister is a colorist and does amazing work - she just lives and works too far for a convenient quick fix, but I know what a professional hair style and color is - and this hair salon is a complete joke! I can run a hair salon and do a better job, or equally as "good" with zero training! It should just close down - like yesterday - because there's no future for this place to stay in business. It is the 2nd worst salon, Hands Down!! in HK. Unfortunately, I know of another place that comes extremely close to taking the award for the absolute worst salon in all of NYC... It's called Rani Spa and Salon. Don't waste your money or time in either place. Oh, I should add that I refused to pay $1 for their services. The treatment I chose was worth about $250 (the owner is smoking some good shh*t... I want what he's smoking)!! The only person who deserved a tip was the shampoo girl.. As I mentioned...it was the best part of my entire experience. Never go to this place they stunningly call a "salon"...It's a Joke! read more
