This low key salon does a great men's haircut for a reasonable price. I have curly hair and they did an amazing job. It might be a small interior but they do amazing work. This place is up there with some of the best haircuts I have ever had. Denise took care of me and did an amazing job. I can see why this place has been open for 20+ years. I will be back read more

Loved the service and my hair! Great service and left the salon with silky flowy hair :)

HORRIBLE service by Colorist Diana. She dropped an entire plastic applicator of dye on me that has left a large scar on my forehead (2.5 inches long halfway down my forehead) She didn't apologize, moved to a brush method and hurriedly tried to put in Vaseline after with a Q tip! She then proceeded to remove the dye in less time than other salons and there were white hairs left everywhere and an uneven color. Lousy experience. Another colorist said she burned my scalp. Do yourself a favor and AVOID at all costs. read more

I have to give this salon a huge shoutout. I called at 6:45pm desperate because my nail broke and I couldn't wash my hair without it getting worse and they took me in right away! Keep in mind this was a Friday evening. Not only did I get a great blowout, I had such a great conversation with the lively ladies and so many laughs! read more

Denise was amazing, gave me one of the best haircuts i've ever gotten as a man with curly hair. Very nice, quick, helpful and had a great vibe the entire time. Definitely recommend this salon for anyone in the city looking for some treatment. read more

Girls don't walk run to Denise. She's amazing. Perfect color cut and blow dry. Such a friendly salon.

Cute, small place. Nice staff. Kathy is the owner. Denise did my hair. Fills you in as you go regarding the process, checks in throughout to ensure you're happy with the length, and they only use very specific products, no Moroccan or argan oil, for example. Still following Covid protocols ie requiring masks, keeping up plastic barriers, and only allowing a certain number of people in the salon at a time. I'm pretty happy with my haircut- was charged $95 for wash, cut, and blowdry. Keep in mind they are currently cash only! read more

Was in the city for my brothers elopement. My new sister and I needed last minute here and make up and Denise did not disappoint! She was so kind and talented. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours before the big event. Neither my sister-in-law or I are good with make up and we didn't want to feel overdone. Denise gave us a beautiful and simple look as well as gorgeous here! She was welcoming and very generous, even offering for us to come back later in the day for touchups as needed for photos. We were in and out quickly and felt beautiful. read more

WHY OH WHY did it take me so long to find this place?! Denise is truly incredible. You won't know what formula she's using, or what sorcery she's performing to make sure your hair comes out perfectly each and every time, but I suppose a true artist never reveals her secrets. Oh, and she's kind and funny and will call you "hon." What a lovely experience -- and my hair looks AMAZING!! read more

I'm so excited that I got a haircut by Denise. She's a magician, she fixed my hair that was completely ruined by my self-haircut during the pandemic. I recommend this place, folks are really nice and professional. read more

Denise at Salon Amici is the best! I got over being sick with just enough time to make it to a wedding, but my hair was a mess. She fit me in last minute and gave me an amazing blow out that brought my hair back to life AND lasted for the entire wedding weekend. I also can't recommend her haircuts enough. I came to her with uneven ends and hair that had been thinned by my last hairdresser. She fixed it all and gave me long layers with great movement that grew in perfectly. I've never had a haircut last me so long! Unbeatable price and amazing quality. read more

Flew in from California and I could not go back without getting my hair done at Salin Amici! The best hair cut and color. Call and ask for an appointment with Denise. You will leave very pleased. read more

Denise is awesome! I called her the Blending Queen for her ability to blend my hair together.

Came in for a color correction and a trim and will definitely be back! The stylist took extra time to make sure that the result was exactly what we both expected and the price was beyond reasonable for the time, effort, and beautiful result (especially for Manhattan, great deal). The place is also small and the whole team was friendly, genuine, and fun to chat with so it was overall just exceptionally comfortable and personal read more

Great place. You can tell they have the real deal experience here. My hairstylist was very through and you can tell was a perfectionist with my cut and style. Before leaving, she stopped me to make some last second trims. Caring and expert level here. read more

Some people who are not new yorkers will be intimidated by how opinionated Denise is, but I'm telling you now...SHE KNOWS HER STUFF. She did my hair for my wedding (my picture is on here) and I was doubting it the whole time...until I walked down the aisle. EVERYONE said it was perfection and looking back, it was. She offers great advice and wants to uplift your spirits and mood! Great little place with great service. read more

These gals are fantastic! Personable, welcoming, fun & good at what they do! I was in NY for 5 days & had two appointments - one for an up-do the other for a hair cut. They are easy to find in a great Manhattan location! Thank you Denise & Kathy! I will always remember you & the fun visiting your great city! read more

An amazing experience! Love my highlights and my cut. Such a welcoming Salon. I will definitely be going back to Denise!

Denise proceeded to cut my hair without having properly discussed the haircut. She seemed to be only concerned with the desired length, disregarding the shape and my other preferences. Several times I had to ask her what she was doing. Some of the reviews mention that she is an expert in cutting wavy/curly hair, but she doesn't know the first thing about it. She made me look like a poodle. I don't think I've ever had such a poor haircut. read more

Denise (owner/operator) is the absolute best. I've been going to salon amici for almost 10 years; even though I moved away long ago I find excuses to be in the neighborhood whenever I need a cut. Because of work, my schedule is always nuts but Denise goes to extraordinary lengths to fit me in no matter what. read more

Worst haircut I've had in 20 years. I asked for brown hair, I ended up with red. I asked for barely a trim and so much was cut off. I have a helmet haircut. It's terrible. It's anxiety inducing - it's that bad. The owner/receptionist seemed very nice but that's all I can say that is positive. Will never return. read more

All of the staff at Salon Amici was wonderfully kind and friendly from the day we met ! We are new to the neighborhood and needed a local salon to have my daughter's hair done with a crown for her Sweet 16 dinner. Denise was so friendly and took fantastic care of my daughter on her special day! She did her hair half pulled back with my daughters crown on her head and half down will long loose curls...it looked great and made my daughter feel like a beautiful princess for her special day! Thank you Denise, Charlene and all of the warm, welcoming staff at Salon Amici... you have new clients in the neighborhood now :-) read more

The most talented hair designer I have ever come across. I am very particular and do my best to wait for my east coast trips too see Denise. Her cut is the best I have ever had, style is amazing, I always feel gorgeous when I leave her salon. She is also expert at color and hi-lites. She is all New York and I love her personality, she has a heart of gold. I am also fond of her sister that handles the reception and appointing. I happened by her salon looking for another one four years ago and wow did I get lucky. I feel like it is now my neighborhood, I stay Mid town East to see her as much as possible. Her salon is small, but very clean and she prides herself in making it comfortable. I would highy recommend her, close to the W, Benjamin, well I would stay anywhere and NY and make it back to see her! This coming from a Santa Barbara, CA resident, so she must be good!!! She should charge more, but; tip her heavily, she is worth it and then some!!! read more

Was staying down the street at The Kimberly and happened to pop in Salon Amici on my way back to the hotel from a pub on 2nd ave. At the time my hair was so long and wild I looked like the wild man from Borneo! Denise was very direct in her recommendation and I told her to just let her rip and go for it. She is very confident and rightfully so as she does know what she's doing. The people in there are nice and friendly. She did a great job and my wife approved.I would return but alas I live on the left coast! read more

The best salon in NYC!! Denise gives such a fantastic cut--it always looks fabulous and lasts for months!!

After my dinner in turtle bay, I decided to get a haircut, and went on here to see which salon is good, came across this hidden gem. Denise is absolutely one of the best hair stylist I've ever encountered. She was busy doing another girl's hair, but she asked me to leave a number, and she could contact me later when she's done. Denise did an absolutely divine job. My hair has gotten so many compliments. 5 stars, no question about it. read more

I came here because there are only 2 chairs and I thought that would be safest during Covid. Lucky for me, I got the best haircut ever! I trusted Denise so much, I came back to have my hair colored the next week - and that was great, too! I don't normally like being in a salon and making small talk but Denise felt like an old friend and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her as she worked her magic on my pandemic hair. Both visits were a huge success! read more

I absolutely loved my time with all the ladies at this salon. I walked in, asked Deborah, the owner, if she was feeling creative... Her response? "Oh sweetheart, that's everyday!" I left everything in her hands, and hoped for the best, and I'm SO glad I did. The woman didn't quit until she was completely satisfied with my look, and it turned out so incredibly beautiful that I brought my husband down a few days later to see what she'd do with his mangy mane.... Same fantastic results! This salon was clean, the stylists were adorable, chatty, and sweet, and their prices were affordable, even for the amazing work they're doing. Please give them a try.... We're glad we did! read more
