I am sharing my factual experience as a first-time client at Mure Salon last night with Nadia to warn other clients with natural textures.Rushed & Impersonal Service: I spent hours researching this salon and explicitly told Nadia how excited I was to be there. Instead, I was treated like an assembly-line inconvenience. My entire consultation, wash, cut, and blowout was completed in under an hour, with less than 10 minutes spent listening to me.Disregarded Instructions: I stated multiple times that I have curly hair, style it both ways, and wanted to protect my curl pattern. Nadia dismissed my natural texture as 'poofy' and used a razor throughout my hair anyway.Contradictory Aftercare Advice: When directly asked, Nadia confirmed my hair was healthy and not damaged. Yet, at the end of the service, she instructed me to buy 'bonding conditioner' and 'keratin conditioner' to suppress the volume. Suggesting deep structural bonding repair for a healthy, routine haircut confirms that my natural texture was intentionally compromised by her razor technique to artificially flatten it.Substandard Blowout: I did not leave the salon looking or feeling professionally styled. My daughter immediately pointed out that it looked like a basic, flat home blow-dry rather than a high-end salon finish.I did not challenge the razor tool in the chair out of respect for the profession, but a luxury Manhattan salon should not be rushing first-time clients or forcing a razor through natural curls against explicit warnings read more

Get thee to Mure and see Nadya! I came to Mure on bended knee after a colorist at another salon saddled me with nearly coal black hair (spoiler alert: not the color I asked for). After despairing for the state of my hair, thinking it ruined forever, I hit Instagram to find a colorist who could save my hair. And, that's where I found Mure and Nadya. After seeing their amazing work, along with the rave reviews on Yelp, I made an appointment. Going in with inspiration pics in hand, Nadya was honest about why we could achieve in one session of balayage, plus do it in a way that would not harm my hair. Came in for a keratin treatment Monday afternoon. Was very easy to schedule an appointment online. I showed up about half an hour early but was still taken back right away. Amelia did my treatment and she went over the steps first and asked if I had any questions beforehand. Overall had a great experience through out the whole treatment, salon was clean and everyone working there were very nice. Also better prices than others in manhattan for similar treatment. I've tried over salons in NYC and the upper east side in particular and all have been hit or miss, Mure has stayed consistent in quality across different stylists. This review is long over due! I am so happy I found Mure Salon, I have been going for about 2 years now and am always consistently happy with my experience. It's located in an amazing neighborhood and on a great stretch of the UES. The vibe is always great, everyone working at Mure is always friendly and helpful. I personally don't get my hair colored, just cut and occasionally a glaze but I never feel rushed out or less important than customers who are getting more extensive services. A special shout out to Amelia who is amazing! She somehow understands what I am describing and does just that. I have found that it is hard to find a stylist that is able to listen to you and give you what you want but is also honest about what will look best on you. Amelia is just that! read more

Appointments became rushed, started late, and lacked even basic professionalism. You're barely greeted when you walk in, and the overall tone makes it feel like you're inconveniencing them just by being there. I told them multiple times I had a head injury from a concussion and the lack of care was very concerning how abrasively they washed and handled my head. My most recent appointment was a complete failure. I asked for a warm, golden brown and came prepared with multiple reference photos. While the color was processing, I clearly flagged that it was pulling purple. That concern was dismissed, and the product was left on longer. The result was the darkest my hair has ever been, almost black with a cool, purple hue. The exact opposite of what I requested. The color job is all mismatched, the lower part of my hair significantly darker, the roots are sloppy and uneven. When I pointed this out, the response was defensive and dismissive. At one point, I was sarcastically asked if I wanted to "bleach it," which is an inappropriate and careless suggestion for already fine hair. It was mind blowing to have this handled so poorly and then be rushed through a cut that does not look anywhere close to the quality of the past cuts. I followed up requesting a refund, given that this will take months to correct and fade, and received no response for over 48 hours. It's not even about the money - it's about the severe lack of respect. What's most surprising is that this level of defensiveness and lack of accountability was unacceptable, especially after such a grave mistake. Instead of thoughtful adjustment and ownership, the response was dismissive in the moment and silent afterward. Mistakes happen. How they're handled is what defines a business. This was not handled well. NYC has no shortage of salons that can deliver both technical skill and professionalism. This is not one of them. Updating this with a pic and additional NYC HAIR SALON SEO terms so future customers are warned since the salon has decided to block me after no satisfactory resolution. The pic at the top right was me pre-hair f*** up. Only come to this salon if you'd like to come home and cry.

My hairdresser was wonderful. Great shampooing job and she was very precise and careful when cutting. Also good at communicating and making sure I was happy with the cut. My haircut was $65, but be warned: if you do the "haircut and blow dry" it's $130. To be honest I don't even know what that means because she dried my hair... with a blow dryer... I guess she didn't style it? But anyways, if you're just looking for a basic cut make sure to communicate that so you don't accidentally double the cost of your haircut. The interior was super clean and everyone there was very friendly. The woman working the front offered me water, tea, or coffee when I arrived and hung my coat in the back.
