I ran into someone in a grocery store who I asked where she had her hair cut. Timothy Hill's name was give to me. I had been looking for an affordable hairstylist for some time and stumbled upon Timothie's FB page. I followed his work for about a month and was pleased with what I saw. I chose Timothie as he appeared to know what he was doing and based on his salon location (Beverly so not the nicest area of Edmonton - you get a wonderful view of the Drake Hotel) I felt his prices would be affordable. His page lists his prices as moderate $$. Although Timothie is friendly and seemed eager to please me, I feel like I was misled and ripped off. He lied to me by omission - by leaving out details such as what his little additions were going to cost me and boy did they add up! My cut and color ended up cost ing me over $350 with a final push to buy his product at the end! I simply wanted a decent all over color and cut. I was unable to find a price list posted while I was there. The services dominoed as the appointment went on. At first, he suggested a conditioning treatment addition to the color which I agreed to. However, had he told me that this was an additional $60 I probably would have declined. Then he suggested a few highlights around my face. I've had these before and know what they cost for the most part. Well these weren't your normal highlights. Here you get the "balayage technique" (for which he informed me he was self-taught). I was never given the choice whether I wanted bayage as he promptly started painting on the dye. Balayage is more hype than it is worth and cost a staggering $115 for this "hand painting technique" for a few highlights. The color ended up being ok.. darker than I would have liked as he never showed me any swatches prior so I took his word on color choice. The cut, however, was awful and unmanageable. Different blunt lengths all over that looked unfinished. He could tell I was not satisfied and kept suggesting I come back in for a better cut if still not happy in a couple days. Then I got the bill. I was speechless! If I had wanted to pay high end prices I certainly wouldn't have chosen a salon in this location. I have been to high end places and have never walked out paying this much and being so unhappy with my style. I feel Timothie should be more transparent about the prices for his services so his customers know what they are walking into. Also, his products are overpriced. $30 each for a moderate sized bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Overall, he needs to re-evaluate his prices based on this location. read more

worst hair cut experience of my life. He pulled my hair constantly while washing it to the point of tears . The " deep condition " lasted a couple of minutes. The entire time he will was cutting my hair, he went and on about how bad my hair was ( terrible previous cut..the dryness..poor color...etc etc )....after he was done the "cut"....he on asked if i "would mind" being sent away with wet hair. I said " yes i mind..i have somewhere to go after this ". He put me under the dryer for a few minutes and sent me off with partially wet hair. His was rude and condescending the entire time. I had a groupon and judging from the reviews it looks like the majority of his business comes from them. I could have paid the same money and got what i wanted anywhere else. P.s. He informed me that he " does not straighten hair " and that flat irons " scare him ". Think twice before going here. It is not worth the $40 groupon . What I got was about a $20 haircut. . If I could give no stars I would. First off the location is terrifying and completely uncomfortable. I did not feel safe at all. He made racially improper comments in front of me and used the f word and various other profanities. He stopped mid haircut to text someone on his phone. He is completing incompetent and showed no knowledge about hair. My hair is quite thin and has been for a long time and he said it was "so thick". He burnt my ear with the blow dryer, I literally cried it in pain. Do not go here. Go anywhere else. It's not worth the groupon. read more

Bought a groupon to Timothie Hill Hair Dressing. I walked up the sketchy building and hallway, which should have been my first clue... He hacked off my hair to my chin, was supposed to be shoulder length... i said I did NOT want short hair at all... specifically said no shorter than shoulder. My hair is uneven and way too short. I should have left at that point but figured I alreadypaid for a colour ... He didn't even highlight my hair properly... put two foils in of blonde and two in of dark then he charged me almost double to cost of the groupon. ... Seriously worst sylist ever. read more

Had my first hair cut & colour today at Timothe's salon. LOVE it!!!! 10/10 experience. I walked in not knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my hair and left feeling like a million dollars. I'm incredibly happy with the end result but also happy to have met a stylist who is a master at their craft, down to earth and makes you feel entirely invited and comfortable at the salon. I got a Groupon for Timothie Hill because I was interested in trying some place new, but after attempting to deal with the hairdresser, I will not be using it (or giving it away, there's no one I dislike that much). The salon won't take phone calls and will only communicate by text. I don't expect perfect grammar or spelling in text messages, but they were so poorly written that they were hard to understand. And when I didn't reply to texts right away (because I was at work, and I'm not going to interrupt a meeting to make a hair appointment), I got a series of very angry text messages insulting me for not responding, and saying that I should dispose of my Groupon because he will not provide any services to me. Even if he were the world's greatest hair dresser, you do NOT want to deal with this guy. read more

I went to timothie for the first time yesterday using a Groupon figuring why the heck not. Well I was very happy. He is a super nice guy, love his energy and the fact he's a one man show gives you that personal touch. I adore my colour and even have a great idea for next time. The cut is perfect, that is not something I say often. I will be back. Look beyond the building it's worth what you find inside. He was super unprofessional, when he did my highlights he got dye everywhere. He did 2 cuts with the scissors one along the bottom of my hair then next he grab it all in a pony tail and cut the ends off. Timothie was very nice and friendly but quality of his work was poor. He cut my hair way shorter than I wanted because he cut one side way shorter than the other and could only fix it by cutting the other side shorter as well. Even now when I check my hair in the mirror I still think it's uneven. When he brushed through hair on the sides of my head-the hair brush would stab into my ears and it really hurt. And he would roughly push my head whenever he grabs the hair and shuffle through them, essentially he gives the head a really rough tap right before grabbing hair. These might be minor details but it really made the whole experience unpleasant. His communication skills was poor. I had to double check with him on how he was colouring my hair because I was not completely sure on what he was going to do. And he's response was well the consultation time is over now... Lastly I question the quality of the hair colouring products he uses. My hair did not feel healthy, the hair texture actually felt similar to aftermath of box dyes or worse. It could also be the fact that he didn't give me a deep conditioning as promised by the groupon coupon-don't know if it was because I was just the last customer of the day and he was in a hurry to get off work or the deep conditioning was actually just a three second treatment-he applied conditioning, told me it was the deep conditioning, ran his hands through a couple times and started rinsing it off. read more

I wanted a simple haircut and blond highlights. My haircut looks so so, the layers do not blend. The highlights are yellow and orange and do not blend at all: I have yellow stripes on my head :( I am so pissed. I look so horrible. Yikes, this bad boy was extremely rude...and unprofessional! First off, trying to make an appointment was tough. Once I got to the salon, I couldn't find a parking spot and finally found one with a meter. Upon entering the salon I was greeted with rudeness. The place is a dive and as I looked around the mess I was afraid to sit down, and the music was so loud I could not hear what he was saying. Once I was in the chair he kept telling me to hold up my head as he roughly combed out my hair. He kept telling me to put my hands in my lap and not on the arms of the chair. He complained the whole time about other clients and he smelled like pot. OK, so he was having a bad day, but he was not professional in the least . Worst hair cut of my life! Do NOT go to Timothy Hill. I asked for an asymmetric cut and instead of cutting it short all around and leaving a piece in the front long, like the pictures I showed him, he left it long and hacked an uneven chunk off the front. A reputable salon told me to wait a month until it grows as they could not give me a good cut with what was left. He is a horrendous hairdresser! read more

Timothie did a great job on my hair. He can give you a cut that works with your hair and still looks good as it grows out. When I called he was able to fit me in during the same week. Timothie is very sweet. Studio is clean and bright, with lots of natural light. Take some cash with you in case the credit card app is down. read more

I do not recommend this stylist. He had a very difficult time listening and quickly became frustrated and insulting when I asked him questions about the colour I was attempting to ask for. He made no attempt to check to see that he understood what I was looking to achieve with the cut. He explained that he was concerned about having enough time to fit in his next client which he had scheduled half an hour after mine, meaning he expected to have consulted with me to understand what I was hoping for, washed, cut and coloured my hair in 25 minutes. He then proceeded to tell me that sometimes you can talk about things too much, meaning me. Talking wasn't the issue, it was his ability to listen and to gain understanding. As a result I have an extremely choppy and chunked up haircut to grow out. I don't suggest going down this road. Try fluid or some other salon if you are looking for a goupon. read more
