As a local resident and long time customer of Timekeepeers, I just wanted to set the record straight after reading the review of Sydney K of Escondido, definitely a non-customer with an axe to grind for some unknown reason. I was in the store that busy Saturday when the reviewer in question entered to store, one of 10 customers waiting in line for the usual GREAT service these two gentlemen provide. After all, there is a reason that 64 other reviews, now 65, state correctly that not only is this an example of the BEST service of any retailer in San Diego. As a frequent and regular customer, I have personally witnessed COUNTLESS times, they have provided services for customers free of charge or because unsuspecting customers didn't know they didn't take credit cards, let them go on an honor system to "stop back & pay when in the neighborhood"... a level of trust & integrity seldom seen any more in biz... Back to that Saturday. The lady had some kind of pocket watch that she valued obviously much more than the true value she expected to get selling it. When the two men behind the counter POLITELY and DIPLOMATICALLY declined to purchase it, saying they had quite a few others in their safe that had gold value, as did hers, but they weren't interested in acquiring any more... She immediately got loud and DEMANDED they open the safe to show her the others. By now there were over 15 people and the line was out the door. Who in their right mind expects someone to drop their customers, take the time to open a safe containing valuables, cash and who know what else with a store full of people?!? When told this could not be done at this time, the woman stormed out of the store bumping into everyone else in line on the way, muttering "How rude, etc, etc"... THAT is what happened and for her to besmirch this fine establishment, a pillar in the community of unquestionable kindness and integrity is a joke. I have flagged her comment and written to Yelp in SF asking them to remove it without the benefit of a response. But I suggest ANYONE looking for the highest level of service for their antique clocks, watches or just a battery replacement, not to consider ANYONE else in the great San Diego area and consider the source of a bitter and unreasonable woman as totally unfounded. read more

What an amazing find! I was in town, visiting my boyfriend's parents and I needed an extra link put in my watch. (pregnancy will do that to you)! I was driving down the street and we saw Timekeepers. I was hesitant to take my Rolex to a non Rolex shop, but I figured it was just links. When I got to the shop, there were about 5 people in line. The store is tiny, filled with loads of cool clocks. I was expecting there to be a long wait, but the gentleman helping everyone was lightening fast! I gave him my extra links and he had the watch fixed in about 3 minutes. He then handed it back to me and said, "No Charge." No charge???!!! We don't know those words in Los Angeles! I was floored. This place is so wonderful and realizes the importance of customer service. The lady in front of me had her batter changed out for free as well. I really appreciate this kind of business and would recommend this shop to anyone! They are obviously skilled at what they do and I'm so glad I found this place! read more

This place has been around forever. I remember gazing into this store when i used to buy baseball cards at the hobby shop that used to be next door (RIP). Back then, these guys fixed my watches and put new batteries in for free (because I was a poor kid with never more than a few dollars). These guys are the best, very knowledgeable, courteous and willing to help with whatever you need. Not only that these guys are cheap. I don't go anywhere else to get my watches or clocks fixed. I probably owe these guys $200 just from they free work they have done for me many years ago. I take all my watches here and my old Seth Thomas clock, Seriously, it's not worth going anywhere else. read more

Stopped by here to replace a watch battery after reading the Yelp reviews. Everything was as described. Two nice guys working behind the counter. Very helpful and friendly. Replaced my watch battery right then and only charged me $5. I asked about a specific style of watch band and the version that they had there worked but wasn't exactly what I needed. Rather than try to sell me their product, they recommended two other specialty shops that carried the brand of watch that I own. As far as their operating hours, they said "We're open until 5, or at least until we make $40 so we can go drink beer." This is my new place to go for all watch and clock services. read more

I took my Lexus key fob into Mario for a new battery and he accidently cracked the plastic housing. He apologized immediately and fixed the crack on site. Instead of just stopping there, he went out of his way and contacted the Lexus dealer. He was told it would be $80 for a new one. He felt so bad that he made a mistake, that all of us do sometimes, he gave me $100 and a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts! No wonder he has been in business for 28 years. WOW! Outstanding customer service and appreciation. I would recommend this shop to everyone. Thanks again Mario. read more

TIMEKEEPERS IS THE PLACE FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES SPECIAL WATCHES AND CLOCKS. I have been taking old, vintage clocks and watches to Timekeepers for years. The work done on both my and my wife's Rolex watches was superb...done in a timely manner...and at a reasonable cost. I have a turn of the century Vienna regulator that has been keeping excellent time for the past 4 years, since it was cleaned and repaired, as well as a Howard Miller ship's clock, which was not running at all until Timekeepers did their magic. I would recommend them without reservation. read more

Great shop - old fashioned customer service - they will often fix a watch while you wait and they could not be nicer! Family run I believe - this place is an Encinitas institution! If you need anything related to watches or clocks - anything - don't waste your time going to a jewelry shop or anywhere else in N County (I've tried) - just go here- I like taking my kids here so they can see these guys working on clocks in the back - like going back in time! read more

This firm is one of the best businesses around. Always friendly, honest, and very generous with their services, frequently not charging for minor watch or clock adjustments. Battery service is prompt and reasonably priced. Marion has been to our home several times to adjust our antiques grandfather clock, often not charging for repeat visits, under his one-year guarantee. We took in a vintage regulator clock that had been in our family for a long time, so it had great sentimental value for us. It had not run in many years but the gentlemen who were running the store had it going in just a few days and told us that it was an easy fix for them. They refused to charge us anything! What an amazing business. We just can't get over their honesty, generosity and kindness. read more

This place is great, though there are cheaper places to get a battery for my watches, I appreciate the excellent customer service and proximity to my house- so I keep sending them my business. If you you need repair on older watches, automatic or manual, these are not the guys for those types of repairs. They emphasize high volume, great service, speedy battery swaps. read more

I've taken my antique wall clock there several times over the years (duh, once I found the shop... right near me!) They always fix it perfectly and cheaply! Sometimes, they don't even charge me (like when I can get the timing right for some reason). The owner loves clocks and seems to know EVERYTHING about them. I just hope they stay there for the next 20 years :-)! read more
