Walking into Timekeepers is like walking into an old friend's home. The soothing sound of actual clocks, lots of clocks, softly "tick tocking" their way into the future. For those who love clocks, like the friendly owners, the sight and sounds of the Grandfather clocks, the ornate clocks, and the simple clocks is a journey into a time of craftsman and family heirlooms. I have been going there for a very long time, but have not gone in since the pandemic. I swung by to have a watch band post changed. They fixed it immediately and did not charge me. It is neither because they necessarily remembered me nor because I do a lot of business with them, but because they, like their clocks, harken back to a forgotten time when business was about more than simple profit. I went to Timekeepers needing a watch battery (which of course they handled) but while I waited for their quick work I saw and explored the largest collection of good-condition longcase and mechanical clocks I've ever seen outside of Zurich. I no longer own a longcase clock (too many moves) but if I wanted to buy another, I would travel to this store from New York or Montreal to make the purchase. Wow. I didn't see a Seiko quartz clock anywhere in the store, but they might possibly stock such things should you want one. read more

We have been going to Timekeepers for about 10 years, once we discovered them. Their instant battery replacement for $5, now $7, has brought us back again and again. Today, I went in with a new watch and new watch band and asked them to put it on. Required two tries as my wrist is very thin. I took my 30 year old important-to-me but probably worthless retirement gift wrist watch to Timekeepers for repair only to find out the entire mechanism needed replacement. This would be the second time in the long life of this watch that it needed a new "engine". Not only did Timekeepers repair it at an extremely reasonable rate they cleaned the band without asking. The guys are really nice, unfortunately my Timex didn't have a battery problem (which would be replaced for a $6, try to replace your battery for this money at the Carlsbad Mall). It doesn't make sense to repair Timex, it's already second watch with the same problem, it's keeping my time slowing by a few minutes, so each time I have to adjust it. Their primary business is probably replacing watch batteries, which they do efficiently, quickly and inexpensively. People come in almost every ten minutes for watch battery replacements. They also repair or practically rebuild clocks, everything from small desktop ones to grandfathers. As well, they will adjust watch bands, in some cases if it is cost feasible, repair quartz watches and perform minor repairs on mechanical watches (for more complex repairs of mechanical wrist watches, or quartz watches that have broken down completely, you'll need to find someone in the Jeweler's Exchange in downtown San Diego, go to an authorized dealer, or ship your watch in to the manufacturer). They also sell some watches, a lot of watch bands, and many, many clocks. Everything is done here with a smile. They won't charge you for minor things like band adjustments and such, even if you try to force money on them. Really gentlemanly, nice proprietors, hope they stay in business a long time. After reading the reviews, I decided to go to TimeKeepers to fix my son's watch which was really a one of a kind watch and very important to him. I wanted to just by purchase another watch for him but I've learned that sentimental value goes a long way with memories from a young age. (It was a Spiderman watch but it was how he got it that was also important to him.) Anyways, the shop keeper was straight to the point and fixed the watch no problem. I didn't think it would be a problem but I came here because of the good reviews. The best advice I read on Yelp was to bring cash so I was prepared to pay in cash. I am not one to carry cash much anymore to that was good advice. My son broke another one of his watches so, you guessed it, I went to TimeKeepers again to have it fixed. I noticed this Yelp page is "Unclaimed" which seems to go along with the shop keepers values of not looking for attention for himself but just to provide good service. Very good service! read more

I just realized I haven't reviewed this place yet. I have been coming here since I was a little kid! We have always used them. Love these guys. I have taken every brand of watch here (except the Audmer's) but that's understandable. They have taken links out, replaced batteries for free in 2 seconds for 25 years! They are never too busy for a customer, even when there is a line. They are always calm and will tell you if they can't fix something or if it's not worth fixing. I can't say enough about the integrity of these men and their work. Truly the best in the business. I am blessed to have them so close and available. Nope! I recently purchased a Swiss Made watch from a private seller and someone who was in attendance recommended this place to me if I ever needed to get a watch serviced. My watch watch is actually running great so I did not need service but I wanted to have the watch tested on a time grapher (a machine that listens to the tick tick of a mechanical watch) to check overall health off the watch. The gentleman told me he could not use his machine because the printer was "out of paper" to which I said "I don't need a printout" and then he said "it won't work without paper". Um ok...moving forward. Then I asked if he could run a pressure (waterproof) test so I could check the seal to which he answered "not on modern watches". - I almost could not believe that came out of his mouth! - I've had these tests run before on my other timepieces but I decided to not challenge that false statement because at this point I got the sense he really didn't want to help me at all. read more

If you expect a fancy schmancy watch/clock shop, this ain't it. This is a true, old-world style, mom and pop shop where they provide specialized service. The two men owning it are artisans and experts at what they do. They are also nice people; one day I wanted two watch batteries and when I gave them my debit card they told me they do not take plastic; they told me to still get the batteries and pay them next time I am around.
