I moved to the Albany area AUG2016 and chose spectrum because I had no choice, I was told there was no other provider in the area. The internet was slow so I upgraded...still slow...they sent me a new modem...still slow... so they sent another ... still unable to load Instagram or FaceTime on any devices. A year in spending $120 a month (for some dumb bundle with turbo speed internet) I decided to give up asmy data on my phone was faster. I went to pick up my new cable box today. Gratefully there was barely a wait. The young woman called my name, and told me her's as we walked to the sales counter. I think her name was Jessica, but not sure. I was only purchasing internet for now, since I had just moved with no tv of my own yet. She asked me why I wasn't getting cable as well because "It's going to cost you MORE later". I told her I didn't have a TV yet. Her reply was "Well 'I' stream EVERYTHING on MY laptop. I thought this was the beginning of a somewhat social conversation. I said that I would most probably get CBS streaming to see the new Star Trek TV series. Her response was a big "Huh?!?!", "I don't know what that is!". I took my package home, dwelling on the bus that most probably customer service or sales was not this person's first calling . I lost internet during a storm last week. Still without internet 5 days later. The quickest Spectrum could get me an appointment is almost a week after I contact them! I have called them everyday and get out on a list to get a technician sooner than my appointment. Every day I'm told there is no one available to help me. They thank me for being a customer for a long time and this is how we get treated. Very disappointed and I will look for another internet provider as soon as I can. read more

I've been so happy with this ISP since I started using them two years ago. I have a service transfer coming up, but I'm pretty confident that I can post this now based on my past experience with TWC....and I was kinda in the middle of something a few minutes ago when I was called by their automated center to do the phone survey. Their phone reps have always communicated with me clearly. Their on-site technicians keep their appointments. Their phone-base support crew is there for you during troubleshooting sessions like your BFF on a bad day. Their internet service I've been receiving has only had one outage in the 26 months I've been a customer, and they've usually got a special offer up their sleeve for you which is always cool. I'm hoping this Yelp will help the female rep who worked with me to transfer my service as much as the phone survey I couldn't get to (Sorry, Doll.). There weren't a lot of numbers to crunch as she walked me through the charges, but things just weren't sinking in for some reason, so I appreciate her patience. read more

Why all the hate? I get 200 down and 20 up for $49.99 a month no contract. You all think FIOS is gonna give you better service? LOL. Any time I have a problem I call and I'm talking to a human basically immediately, 24/7. They are competing with Verizon, and still alive. When I told them I cannot afford that and that my boyfriend (who is a new customer) pays $50/mo for better internet than what I've had for years, I was told to cancel my internet and in 31 days I can re-enroll as a 'new customer.' Worst customer service ever. The place was packed on a Friday afternoon. Half the staff is just standing around. I asked to talk to the manager and it took him 10 minutes to come out from the back room. I guess the TV show he was watching was at a commercial break. The exchange itself (because they gave me faulty equipment) took 10 seconds. If I had a Choice I'd use FIOS but Spectrum has a monopoly, and it shows. read more

absolutely horrible service and significantly higher charges over the time we have had them. Our internet runs at modem speeds with regular loss of connections. Multiple visits by their techs to house and told everything is in order and they tweaked some settings. only temporary improvement occurs. After year of bad service a tech comes out and tells us the line to the house is in such bad condition that it's amazing it worked at all. Replaces line and we see improvement for a few weeks and then back to same. Now with spectrum as the name, the service has gotten even worse with customer service reps getting angry on the phone and talking over you while you try to explain an issue. Poor and rude service deserving negative stars. They think they have little competition and thus abusing their place in the market. Sad read more

I went in to Spectrum to get set up with cable in my new home. The gentleman who helped me, David, was nothing short of incredible. He not only helped me find a package that was much less that I was previously paying with Fios, but also helped my daughter with her trigonometry homework and suggested a fine sommelier in Tuscany for a trip I was going on in the fall. I have read other reviews of poor service by people, such as "Jersey Shore" Nick, but I could not be happier with the overall transaction. read more

The only consistently good thing I can say is that the technicians who come to do the install are very competent and generally pleasant. Phone service about accounts and billing is worse than useless, generally bollixing things up beyond comprehension. Extreme persistence is needed to get anything resolved by phone. The price gouging by TWC is obscene, increasing yearly with absolutely no concomitant improvements in service. Speeds are around average and reliability has been fair to good. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town here, literally. Why the FTC doesn't do something about this monopoly is beyond me. read more

The service at colonie center spectrum is horrendous!!! Waited over an hour to return a cable box! When I got there every station had a customer service rep! Things were moving along.. then all of a sudden there were 2 techs working! The rest had gone on break!! 1:30 in the afternoon-WTF?!?! 3 greeters at the door taking your name-singing and dancing away!!!! The absolute worst service I have ever seen!!! Walked in on a Saturday afternoon. It was starting to snow, so that may account for there only being a few customers in there. The guy at the front signed me in, and I waited about 10 minutes. The woman I met with was very nice, and swapped out my cable boxes quickly. She answered the few questions I had and seemed to know what she was talking about. There was no attempt to sell me other services, which was appreciated. Was there about 15 minutes total, which is much better than the old store on Washington Ave Ext. Time Warner is the worst! They raised my bill by 30% which I didn't approve. They try to sneak this increase in every year. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told noone there is capaple of fixing it because "the system" did it and it can't be undone. Advocating people to write their Senators, the FCC and the Attorney General concerning Spectrum's upgrade to 100% digital thus costing the average consumer more money for a service that was not their choice. The upgrade forced consumers to get the digital box for each TV that was directly connected to the cable line and now pay a monthly fee for these boxes. For decades there was no limit on the number of TV's that could be connected to the cable directly without an increase in price. There was only an increase if you wanted the DVR service BUT that was the consumer choice. This upgrade is discriminatory towards the elderly and families. People like my parents had 3 TV's for convenience and now will be charged an additional cost for the same service they have enjoyed for years thus forcing them to pay more money on a fixed income or downgrade service. Also the same will apply to families who had several TV for their children etc. There was phase-in period of allowing you one year "free" for one box. I was immediately charged and spent an hour on the phone to get this corrected. I was also sent the the wrong box as I have an older TV, ordered another and again they sent the wrong box. I am now forced to go to their store to get the correct box because they could not guarantee the warehouse would send me the correct box!! However, my bill is still now corrected. read more

I reviewed Spectrum last year and this year it's worst. They give the absolute worst service of any provider. They downright SUCK!!!!! Tech support over the phone and billing people are poorly trained and cheap like they are giving away their money. Professional service is non existent over the phone. The techs that come to your home are great. The operations of Spectrum are the worst!!!!!!I have only one thing to say, I miss Time Warner cable. Since Spectrum has taken over time warner cable, their policies and procedures are all about money. I am not impressed with their service and over the phone troubleshooting as well as their charges. Almost every time that I have called spectrum I have gotten a representative that was not very knowledgeable concerning technical support and provided mediocre customer service. In my experience, if I had a problem with my service, which I pay top dollar for, most of the time I have to call two to three times in order to have a problem resolved without having to have a technician come to my home. Spectrum has no problem shutting you off, or suspending your service if you have any financial difficulty paying them right on time. I've never been shut off but I had a friend who was having financial difficulty and appealed to spectrum to waive late fees which they adamantly refused to do. This in itself since they make a large profit, in my opinion, is not customer friendly at all. As I stated previously, I missed time warner cable and I am hoping that spectrum will reevaluate how to handle customers with issues concerning their service and take into account that customer service is more important then making sure that they get every penny they can out of you. Rude, horrible customer service in Colonie mall. Had to go through "bate and switch" situation here when one of the reps Lydia promised service at one price but quire a different bill was received. When I showed up at the Spectrum store in Colonie mall to resolve the issue was attacked by the same rep who solicited me with the service. Manager and the greeter were not of much help either. Manager took side of the rep who mistreated the customer. Anyone who thing of getting their service - think twice! The only decent person was the tech at the house. I recently started the service on the guaranteed 1 year price bundle. I got my first invoice after paying the initial one that included a negotiated installation fee. After reading the notices on the new invoice, I was now going to pay an extra +/- 6-7 bucks/mo. for their "increased costs" the next time. I spent over 2 1/2 hours today saying BS and why they would even fight it and spend all their extra labor costs dealing with me beyond the increase! I did it as a chat that conveniently disappeared after I hit THEIR print button. I then called and started over again to get a half off of the increase. The lousy $72 for the 1stb year was not the point, it was the principle! I will be contacting the FCC and the NYS Attorney Generals office to register a complaint. I read every disclosure they offered that supported my complaint and cited what they published to no avail. I am relentless and will follow up. Beware of any cable company as they have never been on your side. I dumped them 30 years ago when the only competition was satellite after being abused. I only did this for better internet and phone. Had time warner security, they screwed my bill up several months in a row. I complained canceled then couldn't let anyone in to retrieve equipment, 27 days later received a letter from a collections agency for the equipment not picked up. People do work and to send to collections so quickly because they don't send people out after a certain time is totally irresponsible or vindictive because of complaint. I've used Time Warner Cable for a long time. In the last 2 weeks my internet is always down and in and out, my cable and internet both go down..I've talked to many reps and they say outages are in my area..for 2 weeks now, they will give me a call back when the outage is over with.. I get the phone and low and behold I lose connection again, after constant begging for a technician to come out I get one...He comes in replaces my cable box and checks the lines and modem and says everything looks good I tell him whats been going on and he said its fixed and I shouldn't have anymore problems. Two hours later I lose connection and my TV is checkered with pixels, no wifi and I'm hard wired into my pc with no connection...I call them and they tell me its due to outages again...Well what the F. I'm done with this company and I really don't want to be but I'm not paying for stuff I cant use anymore..Spectrum can go to hell read more
