I've been a member for 24 years with Directv! When they were with Verizon always given a promotion/ Loyalty deal that lasted for 12 months. Every 12 months I am required to reach out to them. And make sure that is activated the past three years I can't get through or I'm too early to renew. Then when it is time to renew on that date, you can't get through to them. No one seems to be able to help you loyalty can't reach out to you and the representative on the other end is polite usually trying to be helpful but they're just an employee. It's such a shame that you have to get told it's extra money just for one month but I'm on a fixed income. And just for one month can suck it make much more money than I ever do. I've been with Direct tv for years. They are normally paid by auto pay. Issue with my bank card since it was compromised. I try to pay with my cash app card, and they refused to take payment from it, stating it's a pre paid card. I have to go out catch an Uber, take money off my cash app card and put it on my pay pal card (sound like pre pay, but they take cash app cards), pay an extra fee, and take an Uber home. We are off to a terrible start with Direct TV! They have a refer a friend program where you can give the persons account info who referred you to them and you both get $100 credit. WELL, this is a complete garbage program. They bombard you with program options, installation times, reciever types.....etc, and then you are signed up and that's it. Well their was no mention (or reminder) of the refer a friend program, so I completely forgot to mention it. No problem right? I called back ONE day after installation, and was told that their is absolutely nothing that they can do for me, it was too late and needed to be done on that day that we signed up. I went through a supervisor, who was very unprofessional and stated the same thing. I will be switching back to Time Warner Cable, who's prices are high, but at least they treat their customers with respect. read more

Never saw a company take over as bad as AT&T taking over Directv. I've been a high end customer since Directv started and have three TVs hooked up. Since AT&T took over the programming is pathetic and the rates too high. The movie channels show nothing but old movies and a lot of other channels repeat each other and show real old reruns of old tv shows that are 20 yrs. old! I'm now researching other options and plan to leave Directv as soon as I find a provider with much better programming and rates. DISH, Amazon, NETFLIX, HULU, SLING, etc. read more

Apparently the fine print in their contract stipulates that any necessary repairs to their installation must be paid for by the customer. Yes, we should always read fine print. Reality: it's a long contract, the fine print is very fine, and I have a foolish tendency to trust major national companies. So about a month later it stopped working in my daughter's room, and they told me I'd have to pay for them to fix it. We'd never even touched the wires! So I cancelled my contract and refused to pay early cancellation fee. Collection agencies have been after me ever since. This has adversely affected my credit report, but guess what -- I still won't pay. EVER. Disgusting policy. read more

I am very disappointed, with DirecTV. During the most important football game of the year, my TV went down, because of rain as it's done many many times. I called them up and told them I could not watch the super bowl.Had some friend over,food,and drinks.They told me that I would have to wait for the rain to stop.Well it never stopped.My guess got tired of waiting.and left,and took the most of the food.Directv never offered any compassion.Just said "sorry ".I am not going to sign a new contract with them again. Directv has the worst possible technical and customer service in the cosmos. They don't seem to have any sense of urgency not even for a hotel business like mine. Having one or more rooms unrentable merely because the satellite boxes aren't working costs me hundreds of dollars per day, and they don't appear to give a damn. The service manager for this area hasn't even returned my calls in a week. He obviously can't be bothered with my business problems. There is no backup help when someone is out, so I could be waiting for who knows how long, and I will be losing thousands of dollars in the process. Directv.....you suck big time. You definitely need to improve your tech support and customer service just so that you can leap onto the lowest rung of the customer satisfaction ladder. I recently switched from Dish Network to DirecTV and I very much regret it. First, as an ATT Wireless customer, I was told that I would get unlimited data on my phone. Wrong! Next, I was promised a rewards card only to find out that it would take 6-8 weeks to be processes. Then I discovered that, without my knowledge, I was signed up for a "protection plan" at a monthly cost in addition to the equipment lease fees. DirecTV offers little to no transparency and their promotions are bait and switch at every turn. DO NOT become another sucker. read more

I am only giving Direct TV one star because there is no "zero" mark. They are horrible. I came back from vacation recently to find our service interrupted. We had received no bill. I am now on my FOURTH try to straighten this out. I have been speaking with Filipino representatives who speak English poorly and have terrible connections to my phone. They keep asking to speak to my husband (in 2017!) when I am listed on the account and pay our bills. This has eaten up 2 hours. The problem is still not resolved. If you love robots, indecipherable representatives half a world a way, and obstruction...then this is the service for you. read more

I got a phone call from direct tv last year and they offered 2 years of free NFL channels. It's been a year and I am now being charged. I called them to ask why and they said they don't offer that. Well I wouldnt be so upset talking with them if they didn't offer that to me! They in fact did and put in a case to verify what I requested. I will have you know I had been receiving bills in the mail stating I have two years of this offer!! They left me a voicemail stating I owe the entire amount for the NFL package and I will not be getting two years free. Why is it I get mail stating what I have said is true and they don't have it in their notes?!!! This makes no sense to me! They are shady fudged up people!!! This truly speaks of their character especially for a valued customer like me who has never had an issue until now! I am usually a saavy consumer but DIRECTV really rips you off. This service is much more expensive in the end versus Times Warner, they don't offer phone bundles, and the free genie upgrade is a scam. There is nothing free about it--you lease it monthly. Plus they charge you monthly to insure your satellite dish. Without the insurance you are SOL if gets hit by lightening or has a problem. So.. you own the satellite which you don't want to own, and you pay to rent the genie indefinitely which you would rather own. The promos are very very misleading as well. I am under contract for 2 years but it is still worth it for me to break the contract, even if I pay the ridiculous $400 charge to do so. Im getting a smart tv and basic cable from time warner! So tired of the inability to order specific channels a la carte, and being forced into pricey packages that give me hundreds of channels I don't want in order to get me the one more popular channel I want. they invest a lot of research figuring out how to bundle these channels into packages that maximize their profit and screw the consumer. read more

Loved DirecTV when we had it 6-7 years ago. Moved to Spectrum for package deal. Hubs couldn't live without Sunday Ticket so we're back. And it sucks. Drops internet connection daily requiring trucking up to the main box to reset. Spectrum's On Demand showed all the thumbnails of new shows so you got to find a new favorite fast. DirecTV forces you to go On Demand channel by channel ploddingly slow. What's New function? Shows 5 thumbnails - whoopee. Can be watching a series On Demand and find it gone the next day or only one random show in the series available. So many infomercial channels which are counted as part of their bragged about MANY channels. Some channels available on lower priced packages are not available on higher priced? For example Oxygen is available on the two cheapest package but not on the Choice - to get it you have to bump up to the far more pricey package. Premium packages are over priced and they're showing the same boring movies from the 80's. Seriously "Mystic Pizza" again? Wish we could get Sunday Ticket as stand alone. This is more for DIRECTV as a whole company. They will rip you off left and right, and then when you try to leave their service, they will keep talking to you and talking with all these deals, but none of the deals actually work as advertised, so it's not worth it. I was with DIRECTV for 8 years, I moved and couldn't get it at my apartment, and I cancelled my service, and they were supposed to send me a box to mail my receiver back in, I never received the box. Also, the lady on the phone, told me I only owed $64 to cancel, I paid that, now they are saying I owe $140 to cancel. I cancelled 2 months ago, but I am magically still being charged, now they call me everyday to remind me that I have a bill to pay. I wanted to go back to DIRECTV when I finally moved into a house again, but this experience, I will never ever ever ever go back to DIRECTV, thanks for treating your loyal customers like garbage. I hope they fail as a business, also, every year that you have DIRECTV, the price will increase and increase, until you are paying about $200 a month for service. Not worth it, biggest waste of money. It's still costing me money and I haven't even used it in months. Worst service ever!!! Change the channel and stare at a black screen for about a minute every time you change the channel. Bill doubled in price after the first year so instead of adjusting my pricing, they said there's nothing they can do. I say fine, cancel my service and come pick up your equipment. Now they tell me that they wont take the dish off my roof. The dish that when they installed it, they put their ladder right on my new gutters and completely crushed them. So now im responsible for having to remove the satellite from my roof. And they want to charge me $250.00 for cancelling my service. Beware of this company! Customer service is not helpful and they're nothing but another company that will gladly take your money but offer no service or turn their back on you when there is an issue. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS FAILURE OF A COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I run a business. I understand customer service and bottom line is to make the customer happy. Way to go Direct TV.
