What a gorgeous place to retire in! My friend's apartment is really stunning - very modern, spacious, and with high ceilings and a patio. The landscaping is beautiful; people can easily walk to the dining room or to one of the many activities they have; and if you become less mobile, they have golf carts that will pick you up. The also send meals to people's apartments if they are unable to walk. The chaplain was super cool; they have lectures and film screenings; and the food was pretty decent! The patio was lovely, and inside lots of people were dining with friends. They have a daily special and then a regular menu. We got the soup of the day first (potato leek) which was yummy, and then I had a decent mushroom swiss omelette. They didn't have Dijon mustard, but servers were very nice, and they unfold your napkins like you're in fine dining. My friend also loves the dog park, and the beautiful old trees on the property, and the views of the ocean and PB are stunning. And we saw friends of his along the way too, and he told me about some of the other very accomplished and interesting residents. Looks like a great place to retire if you can afford it! (though it is way up on a hill, so if you're driving yourself, be prepared for the way up to be winding).

Since I would not move…read morefrom the East coast to care for them, my parents utilized my 2 West Coast siblings both male. I had just started a job out East, and finally was able to fly in exactly 24 hours before she died. I was horrified at the size, dinginess depression of her " room". It was not clean, nor orderly- - like a middle income hospital room. Horrific! My siblings had flown in 3-4 days earlier looking for documents then left 2 days before she died. Mom had colon cancer her last 6 months and completely set up her hospice directive to remain in her apt at the end. She was the Office Mngr at the Scarsdale Medical Clinic and also had been their chief medical insurance mngr for 20 years. They lived in the Heathcote section of Scarsdale from 1958 to 1980. Dad was at Einstein. Years earlier mom had POA of Dad's elder cousin and had spoken up often re all inconsistencies problems with the cousin's care to mngt at the Care Center. She was not popular with them. Her last 3 months were terrible. They completely disregarded her directives and placed her with another woman in a tiny room. Three feet to a separating curtain, barely enough room on three sides. The fourth side with just enough room for 2 chairs. She never was in her own beautiful apartment as written in her hospice directive.... she was 100 % lucid, cognizant ( could not speak) to the end. She was having problems breathing through her open mouth, so I had the one ( male) nurse who had to monitor 2 floors solo in the Care Center, come and suction out her mouth/ throat. The rest of the staff were nurses aids. He rushed in, definitely not happy. Grabbed her hard, fast , lifting her under her head with one arm ( feet off the ground), then forced the nozzle into her open mouth suctioning for what seemed like forever! So long I felt she could not breathe! She also had a terrible fall 1 -2 years earlier and almost cracked her neck. So her neck was still fragile. He finally stopped and left. Her formerly peaceful breathing was now very very weak and she died an hour later. A COMPLETE horrific nightmare! Dad had an even worse ending 3 years later, also in the Care Center. He was living too long, over 103 years old. They decided to move him out of memory care where he had been over 3 years, into the final stage at the Care Center. He was very very healthy ALL his life, a doctor. The doctor prescribed him a medication and in 3 weeks he lost 25 pounds ( very tall, very thin always) and he suddenly died shortly after. I was informed of all this after he died. You MUST must have family locally who visit often....

If you've ever looked in to retirement homes you know they're all pretty expensive, however, CV is very reasonable compared to other retirement homes we looked at especially for what's included. The ground here are well maintained and very modern and beautiful. My mom had a studio which was a nice size with two closets for ample storage. Enough space to maneuver her wheelchair around. The bathroom was a nice size as well. The door was wide enough to get a wheelchair through it and the shower was a walk in with now step so it was easy for her to access. I never ate here but my mom thought the food was really good. So did my dad. He would come visit my mom at dinner time aI can't say enough great things about the staff here! Aurora was so amazing. She went above and beyond to help us get into CV in a crunch for time. She was accommodating and she has a big heart for those in need. Illeen was the head nurse. She was so caring for every resident there. She knew everything about each residence needs and made sure they had it. She was so attentive and so was her staff. They were all on top of it all the time and showed each resident kindness, respect and compassion. Unfortunately, while my mom was a resident there, she had another stroke and went under hospice care. I didn't think CV would take her and I was going to have to put her in a skilled nursing facility. I was wrong. I messaged Illeen to give her a status on my mom and told her she needed hospice care and Eileen immediately responded that they would take her back and she could hospice at CV. They even arrange the hospice care for me. They in tandem with hospice, cared for my mom until her last breath and I couldn't be more grateful. If you or a loved one needs an excellent retirement home this is the place.

This is a copy of a letter to Remington Clubs Business / Corporate office sent February 25, 2025…read more My Father moved out of Remington on February 20, 2025: I am writing you to express my complete disappointment as to the services he received at Remington since his move in date of September 2023. First, I want to start off with the issue of someone entering my father's locked apartment (with a security key) on December 31, 2024, at approx. 9:45pm. When I spoke to you about this incident the following day (January 1, 2025) you assured me that a few things would happen immediately; first his locks would be changed ASAP (that never happened) and I would receive a call from the "Executive Director" of Remington the following day, of course, that never happened either. I never got a follow up call from your office as to what happened with these promises. I understand after a conversation with a resident from the fourth floor that someone came into his apartment (uninvited) with a security key on or about 3:45pm January 28 or 29th. It appears the security of the residents is somewhat lacking. Also, the housekeeping staff that "cleaned" my father's apartment on a weekly basis did a very poor job. Quite frankly given the amount of money he spent on rent we would have expected a higher level of service. Speaking of rent, the issue of him being overcharged for two months after my mother went to Memory Care in November was completely unacceptable, especially when we were given written assurances that it would be taken care of immediately after the first month (reference my letter dated December 23, 2024). FYI, we notified your office a few days after she entered memory care that she no longer would be a resident of Remington yet it took over two months for it to be resolved. Regarding the elevator issue in my father's building that was inoperable from November through the first part of January; it is hard to believe how Remington allowed residents of that age group (and health) to be inconvenienced in that way. In addition, there were several times his AC was not operable during a heat wave and staff was unresponsive - not to mention he had to spray his unit for bugs. Also, we were assured that his carpet would be cleaned once a year - of course that never happened. This certainly does not reflect the "Five Star Living" your company advertises. The one area where Remington did excel was the food service, which for a Senior Facility, was exceptional. Also, the serving staff was very patient and attentive to the residents, however, literally everything else there, all aspects of the service and the age / condition of the apartments considering it's 2025 now, was very sub-par given the price point. Finally, I read a review on Yelp from a Tawny Lysak (dated November 2024) that reflects her unease over the treatment her mother received at Remington's Club II in October 2024. I understand there are two sides to a story but given the staff's inaction on several fronts I believe every word of that review. Rest assured I will post this letter word for word on as many review portals for Remington Club as possible. Thank you. Robert Fusco
