If you ever get the opportunity to tour this location totally jump on it, they are of the highest quality when recognizing your loved ones level of care needed and the layout of each home is so perfect. It is exactly the "home environment" I have been looking for in an elderly care location. Let me rave about the activities a little more!!! Scenic drives, art programs, bingo, discussion groups, and PARTIES, PARTIES, PARTIES!! They celebrate EVERYTHING and I never have to worry about my loved one feeling left out of the fun because everyone is included here!!

We feel we're working together with the staff and administrators here to optimize the situation--one person is having trouble adjusting to being away from home; the other calls the Gardens home. Several hospice nurses and two garden volunteers from the community, as well as a few visitors we've met, have assured us that this is generally an excellent place, especially when compared with the range of what's "out there." My own observations are that the staff work cheerfully and are very helpful. They know the residents well, are kind, and have been communicative with us. The activities staff are terrific. Administrators are responsive and staff really engages our loved ones, encouraging them to participate in activities in their building and at the lovely organic produce gardens that supply vegetables and flowers for the care and local communities. The therapeutic gardening program brings in community volunteers and students. One of our seniors with dementia feels that the menu is somewhat repetitive. Admin arranged a meeting with the director of food services, who personally came twice to chat with our relative about it. This person doesn't like vegetables and there are healthy amounts of those given at meals--hence we have a problem for our veggie-hater. We appreciate the admin taking it seriously.

I want to say that making the choice to place Mom at The Remington Club was, in every possible way, made bearable and much easier with the guidance and help from the loving, compassionate, caring and hardworking staff. Not only is it a beautiful, clean and well-kept facility, you can see that the residents are very well taken care of and are very happy. I show up unannounced many times during the week and even on weekends and I walk in to Mom being loved on and she's kept clean, well-dressed and always beautiful. Most of all, I owe a special thank you to Marshall Spencer, Director of Transportation, who my words cannot begin to express all that he has meant to me and my family. Transportation services was a crucial deciding factor for us. If Mom wants to attend church services, or needs to go to her doctor's appts or just go on fun excursions, it's such a good feeling to be able to depend on Marshall to facilitate that for Mom. Whether it's a regularly scheduled trip or if she feels like getting out for a while, knowing we have someone like Marshall to deal with the driving services provides us peace of mind. Particularly as people age, they may deprive themselves of certain activities and enjoyments because they don't want to deal with nighttime driving, heavy traffic, unfamiliar directions, or the possibility the car breaking down. That's no way to live life - particularly in your golden years. He takes the hassle of driving off her hands. Please, if you need to send your loved one to a higher level of care try The Remington Club. You will not be disappointed. I owe them so much! It is also very affordable and the peace of mind is priceless!

What I got instead was a facility that treats clients like a revenue stream, not people. Staff conduct: Two front-desk staff -- Dani, and a coworker who wears blue scrubs "to look important" (her words, when I asked) -- raised their voices at me and told me to leave the facility. I then spent 3 hours outside in the heat arranging a Lyft and a last-minute hotel. While this was happening, I overheard them talking about me behind my back and scrolling their phones to shop online instead of attending to clients. Unlicensed staff, ignored medical needs: The CCTs supervising the housing unit are not licensed or certified. My documented conditions -- fibromyalgia, arthritis, severe insomnia, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, musculoskeletal issues -- along with my PCP's orders for Spravato care and knee injections, went completely unaddressed. I had no access to a dietitian despite my dietary restrictions and was essentially living on avocados, losing weight I didn't need to lose. Missing property, no HIPAA accountability: When I asked what would happen to my prescribed medications (prescribed by my own doctor, for use in my home state) since I wasn't allowed to take them with me, staff shrugged and told me they'd simply be destroyed. I left with multiple personal items missing -- two pairs of shoes, suitcase locks, toiletries, prescribed skin cream -- and was never given the property inventory I requested. Pressure tactics: After I fought for two days to be discharged, staff called my husband to try to talk me into staying. We didn't fall for it. The bottom line: Admissions promised reimbursement for my flights, hotels, and rideshares, plus restitution to my insurance (BCBS FEP). I'm still waiting. I have records of everything -- dates, costs, conversations. If you're considering treatment, look hard at a local IOP before you spend thousands of dollars and fly across the country for this. Do your research on Wings Recovery Carlsbad before you trust them with your care. #WingsRecovery #Carlsbad #PatientRights #MentalHealthAwareness #KnowBeforeYouGo #HIPPAA #HIPPAAVIOLATIONS #HIPAARIGHTS #CONSTITUTIONALRIGHTD A couple of practical notes: I left out the physical descriptions tied to the photos (tank top, etc.) -- for a public post, especially one identifying employees by name/appearance, that's the part most likely to trigger a defamation or harassment claim against you, not them, so it's the one place where restraint protects you rather than softening your story. If you do post the photos, consider whether your state requires consent to publish someone's image, since that varies. -SUSAN GORSKI Intake Date: July 15th 2026 Discharge By My Own Will Date: July 20th 2026. P.S. I look forward to getting reimbursed as PROMISED by anemployee in Admissions during our phone conversation on Thursday July 23rd 2026. I will be more than agreeable to send ANY AND ALL RECEIPTS of my Flights, Hotel Stays, Rideshares and more once I hear back from Wings Corporate Office, especially from WING'S CEO, Carlos X. Montaño.

The care staff are so caring and kind as well as being professional and well trained. They handled my mother's dementia and declining health with such grace. The care my parents required went from minimal to total care and they handled each phase seamlessly. The administrative staff are wonderful and caring and put my family at ease with every phase. The residential community is so warm and welcoming. When my father passed they reached out to my mother, stopping by, visiting, inviting her to eat with them, to attend activities with them, etc. They were so warm and welcoming to all of her visitors. We have come to know they by name. The restaurant is amazing! The food is wonderful and the atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming. The service staff were so wonderful in accommodating my parent's needs as they declined. The activities at the facility are top notch and the family celebrations are amazing. My parents loved the parties especially. The common areas are always decorated for the next festivity. The activity staff work so well in accommodating all levels of participation. The facility itself is beautiful. The owner, Bill and his wife are there frequently and their aging parents have lived there as well. They have added personal touches to the furnishings which make it feel so much like home. They know all the residents and much of the family by name. We are so grateful for their loving care of our parents. We were truly blessed to have found such a hidden gem.

We couldn't recommend Garden Abode more highly.

If there are 6 residents the staff ratio is one to three. This is crucial and pretty much as good as it gets. It's a close as you will find to a home from home. The care given by Melissa and her staff is amazing. The accommodation ranges from shared rooms through single ensuites and a great kitchen, dining room and lounge areas. And the garden is sunny with lots of beautiful plants and a very cool resident tortoise who is very fond of hibiscus flowers. When I initially visited, Melissa sat and talked with me for more than 2 hours. She will listen to what it is your loved one needs and talk through everything and help you with every step of the process, she will tell you exactly what she can and can't do. She has been running Garden Abode for more than 15 years and has a wealth of knowledge about everything you will need to know. She will manage meds, special diets and advise on Hospice when the time comes. She is very flexible on visiting and will accommodate any reasonable requests. The task may seem overwhelming to you but once the initial intake admin is complete Melissa and her staff will be able to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for your loved one. My husband was in their care for seven months. I was unable to keep him home any longer and Melissa and the staff really did provide a home for him. This was not an easy time by any means and Melissa helped our family navigate it with as much grace and dignity as is possible. If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one in a comfortable and caring environment it may be the best thing you do to just give her a call and talk to her. If you leave a message she will call you back promptly. This part of life is a very difficult one to navigate. The decision to put your loved one into care is, at the very least, heart-wrenching. The facilities available range from massive expensive institutions run by corporations where, if your loved one is on the quiet side and deteriorating they may not receive the care you would hope for (and they are very much institutions regardless of what you may see when you tour) to small Board and Care facilities with a few beds and a dedicated staff, and everything in between. A Board and Care facility may well provide more personalized and superior care than a far more expensive large institution. Some are obviously better than others and you will know the facility that's right when you find it. I looked at many facilities trying to find accommodation for my husband who had dementia and was deteriorating. I came out of every tour of every facility and sat in the car and wept because I felt there was no way I could leave him in any of them.... then I found Garden Abode and Melissa. I can recommend them wholeheartedly. I don't think I could have found better and I thank Melissa, her daughter and the rest of the staff from the bottom of my heart. x

It's also very clean and doesn't smell. I love the setup of the memory care. Sometimes your loved one may be between the two levels of care, and may benefit from socializing people in the assisted living. Ivy Park allows that when appropriate, which is unique and something I love about this place. I also liked the floor plan of the Memory Care on the third floor. The hallway is like a loop, instead of a straight hallway with fire doors at the ends (where people with dementia may try to leave). The entire place feels like a nice hotel lobby where people gather. I also felt that this place takes fall prevention seriously - it's a major concern for elderly people in general but especially those with dementia. The flooring and the way furniture was set up in the common areas was thoughtful, i.e., there wasn't anything that was sticking out where you could trip or bump into. Another facility I recently toured had multiple strips across the hallway, maybe to cover the flooring joints. I saw a woman walking with a walker, and she had to stop and slightly pick up her walker every time she went over those bumps. I toured 30+ facilities in San Diego County when I worked as a social worker, and I have to say this place was one of the best I've seen. I toured for my father-in-law, and my mother-in-law chose another place closer to her home. But I would have definitely chosen Ivy Park if it were up to me. Highly recommended.
