Her care had become more than our family could safely provide around the clock, but that didn't make the decision any easier. We visited many assisted living communities and board-and-care homes, and unfortunately, many of them left us feeling discouraged and heartbroken. The moment we walked into Sunview Gardens, it felt completely different. It was warm, welcoming, and truly felt like a home. The residents were beautifully cared for, dressed nicely, with their hair done, and they genuinely seemed happy and comfortable. There was a warmth and positive energy there that we simply hadn't felt anywhere else. Our mom spent the last few years of her life at Sunview Gardens, and looking back, our only regret is that we didn't make the decision sooner. She loved her home there. She made wonderful friends, and most importantly, she was surrounded by caregivers who treated her with genuine love, patience, dignity, and kindness. The owners clearly take great pride in Sunview Gardens, and that care is reflected in everything--from the incredibly clean and well-kept environment to the attention each resident receives. We always felt that our mom was known, valued, and truly cared for as a person, not simply as a resident. If you are struggling with the guilt and worry that can come with moving someone you love into assisted living, I completely understand. We were once in that exact position. Sunview Gardens gave our family peace of mind, and it gave our mom a loving, happy home during the final years of her life. For that, we will always be grateful. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan noticed an elderly woman with a walker headed down Midland St. in Poway. Sunview Gardens was ill-eqipped to care for her. The owner knew she had Alzheimer's and even assessed her! She had no problem opening the gate around the perimeter of the house. It is a very small facility; the staff definitely should have been paying closer attention. In addition, we hired a third party care-giver to stay with her overnight one day/night. This person notified us that a caregiver at Sunview literally yelled at our loved one for coming to the breakfast room before it was time. Stay away from this place if your loved one needs Memory Care.

Call button for assistance wasn't working (and never checked) Lack of communication between the doctors and staff - caused a handful more "falls" that should have happened. More visits to the ER than anyone should have had. Doctors testing orders ignored, even asking over and over. Promises of "checking on my dad every 2 hours" were ignored and not ever implemented. 2 of us were there everyday and still could not get the quality of care and dignity that my dad deserved and needed. We were lied to daily and staffing numbers were under the mandated requirements. I would not put my worst enemy in Ridgeview. Be very vigilant before putting your loved one here.

They have a nice space where you can have lunch outside of your room if you want to they have a nice little patio that the caretaker that I have going there too will take my mom out for a walk in a wheelchair I highly recommend this place if you are recovering from a surgery. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that the staff genuinely care about their patients. Every nurse, CNA, therapist, and team member showed warmth, kindness, and a level of compassion that created a true healing environment. What really stood out is how committed they are to helping patients maintain a sense of normalcy and dignity. They encouraged my dad to keep a daily routine--waking up, getting dressed, and enjoying his meals in the dining room rather than staying isolated in his room. That structure made a remarkable difference in his overall mood and recovery. The activities they offer are wonderful and thoughtfully planned. From bingo and painting to live music and social events, they keep the residents engaged, active, and connected. It's clear they put their hearts into making each day meaningful. All four of us visited and toured several facilities both in Northern and Southern CA. We wanted to find a place for dad that we felt comfortable live in ourselves. Dad had been living in Northern CA for most of his life, so when my husband and I visited Cloisters (several times), and had met with Tia and other staff members, we felt that it would be the best fit for him, it was still a big leap of faith as it was major move for dad at such an advanced age. Now it has been 3+months and dad has fully adjusted to the facility, met new friends and very much enjoying his new home. Always greeting you with warm smile, Tia is the driving force that keeps everything going the right direction, but each and every person that we have had the pleasure of meeting so far have been caring, attentive and a joy to know. We usually visit dad twice a day every day, so we don't miss much. We would like to specially recognize Marlene who has been exceptionally careful when she is showering dad who had a foot surgery recently. Just last week we celebrated dad's 98th birthday with a cake for everyone at Cloisters. My favorite aspect of the facility is that every room has a view, and most rooms have a private patio access to an immaculately maintain garden brimming with roses, cannas, bougainvillea, many shady trees, hummingbirds and butterflies and many pollinators flitting about, that would cheer up the gloomiest of moods. Mom's room is lovely and the grounds are well maintained. She believes the food is delicious and the staff helpful, kind and competent. Thank you is not quite adequate, grateful is understated because knowing our precious mom is well cared for means the world to us.

It took a while for her to adjust to moving from her home to an apartment and I'm happy to say that she's really enjoying the amenities, activities and all the friends she's made there. The food selections are top quality and varied and delicious. The staff are very helpful, caring and kind; the majority of the staff are long timers and are very dedicated. Recently she invited us to their Primavera Dinner celebration. I'm sharing some pictures of the event. The food served at this event was excellent.

She is paying a lot for her studio apartment there and an additional $800 for her assisted care. They recently gave her an invoice that her $800 charge was increased to $1300. They don't even help her now!!!! They refuse to put her arthritis cream on her shoulders but a give her a full shower??? I'm so mad and sad for her. No one who works there seems to care at all. My grandma pressed her life alert at 9:20 one night, no one arrives until almost 11pm because the one person on staff just WENT HOME EARLY BECAUSE SHE WAS TIRED??? No other staff to help with residents and my grandma just had her necklace beeping for over an hour. When someone finally showed up for her to changed her bra and underwear if was some 19 year old man she didn't know. She'd told the staff she was only comfortable with a woman doing that. She's paying so much. This is cruel. I'm on the verge of seeking out a lawyer. This is bordering on elder abuse. Care has been absolutely horrible, especially for the charge and now this increase. I won't let it happen.
