She is paying a lot for her studio apartment there and an additional $800 for her assisted care. They recently gave her an invoice that her $800 charge was increased to $1300. They don't even help her now!!!! They refuse to put her arthritis cream on her shoulders but a give her a full shower??? I'm so mad and sad for her. No one who works there seems to care at all. My grandma pressed her life alert at 9:20 one night, no one arrives until almost 11pm because the one person on staff just WENT HOME EARLY BECAUSE SHE WAS TIRED??? No other staff to help with residents and my grandma just had her necklace beeping for over an hour. When someone finally showed up for her to changed her bra and underwear if was some 19 year old man she didn't know. She'd told the staff she was only comfortable with a woman doing that. She's paying so much. This is cruel. I'm on the verge of seeking out a lawyer. This is bordering on elder abuse. Care has been absolutely horrible, especially for the charge and now this increase. I won't let it happen.

A Truly Exceptional Skilled Nursing Facility…read more Our family is incredibly grateful for the outstanding care my dad received at this skilled nursing facility. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that the staff genuinely care about their patients. Every nurse, CNA, therapist, and team member showed warmth, kindness, and a level of compassion that created a true healing environment. What really stood out is how committed they are to helping patients maintain a sense of normalcy and dignity. They encouraged my dad to keep a daily routine--waking up, getting dressed, and enjoying his meals in the dining room rather than staying isolated in his room. That structure made a remarkable difference in his overall mood and recovery. The activities they offer are wonderful and thoughtfully planned. From bingo and painting to live music and social events, they keep the residents engaged, active, and connected. It's clear they put their hearts into making each day meaningful. Bottom line: they go above and beyond. This is, without question, the best skilled nursing facility we have experienced. Our family cannot recommend them highly enough.

Bayshire was recommended by the VA Social Services for Rehabilitation after knee replacement…read moresurgery. Met with them twice, toured the facilities. In the second meeting I relayed that the surgeon and primary doctors recommended that I not go there because of a higher risk possibility of infection associated with hospitals and rehab facilities. I told them that the surgery was being done on an outpatient basis and that the surgeon wanted me out that day or the next day. On the morning of the surgery I called to make sure that I had a room available and was told for the first time that Medicare would only start after three days of being in the hospital. I was appalled and said why was this not mentioned before, because this disqualified me from using their facilities. All I got was that the hospital knew that. I said what about me? Why did they fail to mention this in our conversations. The surgery was cancelled while we now look rebook the surgery and look for a suitable place to rehab. NOT GOOD for me or my knee. Not good for the scuttled surgery team.

When a loved one is in a home, holidays in general are difficult, Thanksgiving in particular, may be the most difficult for our family. Kathleen established terrific traditions, hosting 10-20 friends or family and baking 8-10 pies making our 6 grandchildren feel special. This year Ranch View celebrated Thanksgiving one week early and we invited our best friends who attended and made the day even more special. For the second year in a row our family wanted to bring Thanksgiving to Kathleen at Ranch View on Thanksgiving day. Maria and staff set up a table and 10 chairs in a private room for our family Thanksgiving and it was a huge success. Nothing will ever replace our home holidays but in my opinion Ranch View has made the extra effort so Kathleen and our family feel like we have a home away from home. Thank you Maria and staff

As my mom has transitioned to hospice care the staff has been amazingly, dedicated and observant of her needs. Throughout our lifetime, our family has owned five senior citizen, retirement centers, and I know how much it takes to run a center such as RanchView. I highly recommend RanchView and all the staff to anyone considering placement for their parent. My decision to move to RanchView was slow and deliberate. My mom had been in home support care living at home for 10 years. I only chose RanchView after a long and dedicated search. My decision was wonderful and I can't recommend RanchView enough. RanchView staff is like family and the facility is our home. When I bring family members with me to visit mom, staff remembers them and also offers to help them to make their visit with mom more comfortable, such as sharing snacks or meals, or providing any type of comfort or conversation that makes their visit to my mom more enjoyable. RanchView stands out as going above and beyond every day.

It is run by…read morea very professional, kind and compassionate individual with staff who care very much about all the people who come to stay. If there are 6 residents the staff ratio is one to three. This is crucial and pretty much as good as it gets. It's a close as you will find to a home from home. The care given by Melissa and her staff is amazing. The accommodation ranges from shared rooms through single ensuites and a great kitchen, dining room and lounge areas. And the garden is sunny with lots of beautiful plants and a very cool resident tortoise who is very fond of hibiscus flowers. When I initially visited, Melissa sat and talked with me for more than 2 hours. She will listen to what it is your loved one needs and talk through everything and help you with every step of the process, she will tell you exactly what she can and can't do. She has been running Garden Abode for more than 15 years and has a wealth of knowledge about everything you will need to know. She will manage meds, special diets and advise on Hospice when the time comes. She is very flexible on visiting and will accommodate any reasonable requests. The task may seem overwhelming to you but once the initial intake admin is complete Melissa and her staff will be able to provide comprehensive and compassionate care for your loved one. My husband was in their care for seven months. I was unable to keep him home any longer and Melissa and the staff really did provide a home for him. This was not an easy time by any means and Melissa helped our family navigate it with as much grace and dignity as is possible. If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one in a comfortable and caring environment it may be the best thing you do to just give her a call and talk to her. If you leave a message she will call you back promptly. This part of life is a very difficult one to navigate. The decision to put your loved one into care is, at the very least, heart-wrenching. The facilities available range from massive expensive institutions run by corporations where, if your loved one is on the quiet side and deteriorating they may not receive the care you would hope for (and they are very much institutions regardless of what you may see when you tour) to small Board and Care facilities with a few beds and a dedicated staff, and everything in between. A Board and Care facility may well provide more personalized and superior care than a far more expensive large institution. Some are obviously better than others and you will know the facility that's right when you find it. I looked at many facilities trying to find accommodation for my husband who had dementia and was deteriorating. I came out of every tour of every facility and sat in the car and wept because I felt there was no way I could leave him in any of them.... then I found Garden Abode and Melissa. I can recommend them wholeheartedly. I don't think I could have found better and I thank Melissa, her daughter and the rest of the staff from the bottom of my heart. x

After touring several board-and-care places, we knew Garden Abode was the best choice. Nothing compared in terms of the level of care and quality. Melissa and the staff at Garden Abode treated her with kindness and respect. We couldn't recommend Garden Abode more highly.

The mgr Stephanie never seems to be available for a call or in person meeting and upon our visits she's never present in the office. There have been occasions where Ive stopped by to speak with her and while told she was on a call she was seen leaving out of her door & exiting the property. I'm almost certain there's no hope in getting things resolved and we don't plan to renew! I see some residents in the reviews who constantly nag and keep tabs on staff as if they are their nurse or sitter however we try our best to stay out of the way unless a case of an emergency or a question relating to our ledger, work order, or any other property matter unrelated to snacks and drinks! So it saddens me that when we are reaching out about more important matters we are unable to reach the manager and feel she doesn't not want to engage. I believe the constant turnover in front desk staff shouldn't only speak to the employee in itself but also to the management team leading them and setting the tone for a welcoming and productive work environment Lastly ( whether we stay or not ) we've seen a few people come and go in this desk upfront but I really hope the new leasing consultant Darian is here to stay! She has been very helpful and supportive when we call and she has an attentiveness like we haven't seen from office staff in a while when we visit. I hope that these residents in the reviews don't run her off by simply treating her as if she's their sitter and not their front office staff.

During this time, there were two executive directors who came and went. The more recent one lasted over 2.5 years. She was a pathological liar who stopped showing up to work on a regular basis about half way into her tenure. Everybody she hired was either related to her or a friend of hers, so there was no accountability. Residents were regularly neglected, physically as well as emotionally. I informed her boss about it in January '24, and her boss' boss (!) in October '24, but she lasted all the way through December '24. In between January '24 and October '24, when my mom left, there were numerous phone calls, Zoom meetings, and in person meetings with the Executive director's boss and other concerned family members. We were always promised that things will improve, but they never did. It's worth noting that the place is particularly awful for wheelchair bound residents, as I found out during my mom's last 5 weeks there. Nobody ever wheels them around the beautiful garden, as grossly misrepresented in the video on the main page of the Summerfield website. If they're lucky, they will be taken to the activity room, but often they are just left behind. Many families hire a private caregiver for their loved ones in Summerfield, but even those have all left in disgust. As the saying goes, "a fish rots from the head down". ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING PLACING YOUR LOVED ONE IN SUMMERFIELD: Be aware that many of the reviews are written by Summerfield Employees and folks who just came in for a visit.

She has been here since August of 2023 and our family has been very pleased with her care. The facility is relatively small, secure (locking gates and door to public areas), and I am not worried at all about Mom wandering out. The staff is very loving, caring, and attentive to mom's needs. I've also had the pleasure to dine with her several times and the food is always very very good! The facilities are clean and well maintained, and there is a lovely activities room and backyard/patio area. I can't say enough about how kind and accommodating the staff and management have been. I have an uncle who spent a lot of time with her daily, into the evenings, and he also raved about how wonderful my mom is cared for. As her care and medical needs have increased, we recently brought in hospice. They also commented on how much the med tech knows about my mom, and were impressed. Hospice and Summerfield are now working together to make the rest of mom's days as comfortable as possible. Is it perfect? No assisted living facility is ever perfect. But when there are issues (room needs cleaning, for example) it has always been addressed quickly. The staff is prompt at calling me when there is an issue with mom. The med techs and caregivers usually know off the top of their heads, what kind of day my mom is having. If there's been a shift change, whomever I ask always looks up the med tech notes and lets me know how she's been that day. We have many family members visit Mom, and they are always welcomed and never rushed out or made to feel obtrusive or in the way. In fact, lots of love and visits are strongly encouraged, and the staff is always so accommodating! There are many different types of facilities in San Diego area, and I recommend that Summerfield be on your list to check out if you have the need for memory care assisted living for a loved one. They are very competitively priced, and with the wonderful care, good food, activities, and kind people, this place is definitely worth a look.
