The new owners are incredibly friendly and knowledgable, and are curating quite a deep selection of desirable discs, all impeccably organized and labeled. Best yet, these labels show not only the standard quality grades but also other important details. As I walked in they were just putting out a large batch of immaculate Japanese pressings of 70s and 80s rock and jazz recordings, all in NM condition complete with obi bands. As I'm primarily interested in sound quality, I was truly in heaven. And it gets better... I was able to audition all my potential purchases on their quite decent system, all of which I bought, and they sound flawless on my very high resolution system. Note: the prices marked seemed very fair (Japanese imports in NM condition are normally very pricey) but I my case they discounted the price considerably because I bought three albums.

Some fanatics - and Bob seems like a super fan - can lean too far into teacher or insider mode with kids or anyone not into their thing. Bob, in contrast, was so great to ask about what they like, what they're into, and really served to foster their growing love of many types of music and analog formats. If you love record / CD stores, just go. More CDs than I've seen in a shop in an age. The place is a gem and Bob's the icing on the cake.

I noticed the levels of positive energy and greetings seemed to be very selective dependent upon who was coming in the store. Initially I thought the staff person may not have been friendly until I saw him engage with others with very upbeat and friendly energy. His persona gave a little condescending and rude when asked by select customers about various artists. The selections were limited based around what I was looking for, but interesting nonetheless. Heads up things are super unorganized and may require some digging. And if you ask about a particular artist you'll get the snarky response "it's not a cd store". I did locate one album at a really great price point. That was a steal! Unfortunately I will never return to this location.

I'd expect to see this bookstore cafe in somewhere like in Ogunquit, Burlington, Bar Harbor, Austin, or Asheville? Super cute place with an interesting, eclectic selection of used books. They have a little coffee shop/cafe at the front - and there's an area where they have talks and live music on certain days. The people who work there are so incredibly friendly and helpful. I think there's a cute little outdoor area, but it was closed last time I visited. Hope to drop by here next time I'm in Staten Island!

I met him immediately upon entering the store, as he was sitting right near the door. His name is Dr. Pickles and he is just as lovely as the shop he calls home. The shop itself is well organized and has so many niche categories to browse and appreciate. As the shop's name suggests, they have ample signage outlining the rules and guidelines for trading with them. As a bonus, the shop (and Dr. Pickles!) are active on Instagram sharing the latest that's up with the shop. I am absolutely planning on returning to this shop during my next trip to Philadelphia.
