How can you work and retail and have no customer service skills?!!…read more My daughter and I wanted to enjoy this gorgeous day, so off to Haddonfield we went! Raks was our first stop. Nice store with a great clearance rack out front. I loved a pair of bling jeans for a mere $15. I had my eye on a nice summery red purse that I was going to buy too. Well ... my friendly self said hi to the woman behind the counter. She looked square at me and SMIRKED. Not even a hello! WHAT A PUSS FACE! I called to my daughter and we left. Screw her and screw her attitude! This woman and store didn't deserve our business. We went elsewhere, with much nicer staff. We mopped up too! WE WILL NEVER GO BACK and I hope I reach many people on Yelp! Also, my Italian self has a big mouth and a lot of friends and co-workers that I WILL be yapping to!

If you want eclectic cool clothes and budget is not your top consideration this is the place!…read more However the words Raks and thrift shop in the same sentence is an oxymoron. the crowd they are catering to are people that can afford to pay top dollar that they are demanding for their stuff. And that crowd can afford to go anywhere for their clothes. The owner has to have a huge markup to pay for that rent in Haddonfield and have enough left over to make it worthwhile. which drives the experience I had below... I tried to consign to them, and found them to be picky and condescending. Out of several pairs of slightly worn designer shoes, in a popular size, no less, (items comparable to what I see they usually have for sale), they were only interested in one of my pairs and told me that wasn't "worth" opening up an account for me. Damn. a mean girls' club! and how much could I expect to make if they found my stuff "worthwhile"? the laws of economics tell me ..not anywhere near fair market value. I learned several important lessons from that experience. I used to enjoy shopping there and I am rethinking ever going back because 1) I felt dissed with the last incident and left a bad taste in my mouth. 2) Since the prices rival what you pay for most if their items new, why not go to a retail store where you are likely to spend just as much money and Where you have more variety in choices and sizes. 3) If you are on a budget, go to real non profit thrift shops-or buy less in new stores. and, What to do with all that stuff you bought in places like this on impulse? donate to Goodwill rather than deal with them. your time, energy and peace of mind is worth more.

Suck it up and pay the $$. PS its a donation - so if you are REALLY that cheap, you can just go in. With the pandemic, I don't know if this event runs any more…read more My friend V. loves thrift shops and what she calls 'treasure hunting.' Having grown up poor and being forced to wear way too big, tooth achingly ugly winter coats from Goodwill that I'd 'grow into,' hideous polyester button down shirts that a pimp wouldn't touch, scratchy, pill-y wool sweaters reeking of camphor, high water generic blue jeans and summer shorts I would not put on a dog in a clown show, I assiduously avoid things like this. V. was insistent that I would 'go wild' over this flea market because 'it won't be like anything else you've ever been to!!!' I had my doubts about that but you make concessions for friends. We paid our $3 entrance fee and strolled around. Most of the vendor tables had things that were of no interest to me; old playing cards, glassware that was (presumably) collectible, vintage tattoo flash, old silver plate and older, tarnished sterling silver tableware, racks of *shudder* vintage clothing and shoes, most of which had seen better days. There were some well curated tables of antique jewelry and antique beaded bags at very non-bargain prices and a few tables of what I can only call culled pieces from cabinets of curiosities-moth eaten taxidermied items and non-p.c. tourist trash. For the most part, the vendors we encountered were bored seeming or down right rude. The people watching was far better than anything for sale. After 2 hours here, V. bought a very large, ornate dusty rose colored tassel. I asked what she planned to do with it. Her response? 'Do you want it, Warren?' Uhh-that would be NO. I bought nothing. V. wanted to take another spin around the place so I opted to go out to her car to sit and read, telling her to take her time. Another 2 hours passed. She returned empty handed, other than the tassel, to the car. Would I go back? Nope. Should you go if the flea market opens again? It's $3 and maybe an hour or 2 out of your life. You could spend that time and money in worse ways.

I found a an obviously fake Chanel wallet, and when I opened it up, they even literally had a price tag inside that said it was counterfeit, yet they were expecting $55 for it. So some slave in Asia probably had to make this shitty knock off so that the store could profit. If that is not the definition of unethical, I don't know what is.

Now $100 poorer as I felt compelled to buy the two slightly overpriced shirts not because I liked them that much or that they were that rare but just to prove to the curly haired worker that I could who was hovering over me the majority of the time I was in the store as if I was planning to steal something . I know Philly has a theft problem but jeez she was a lot and really rude . She literally cut me off when I was expressing my concerns about the contents of my bag which she told me I had to leave outside the dressing room . I have no problem following rules but I don't need to deal with attitude or whatever her problem was . Literally as I was leaving she was telling me where the go back rack was . Seriously the worst experience I've had a clothing store . Avoid at all costs . For what you pay, you might as well go to feminist flea market or other hintage clothing swap event or even look online . Prices and quality are about the same with a better selection but you will be treated with respect .
