My daughter and I planned a girls day for lunch and thrifting. We drove by 2nd avenue a few weeks ago and decided we'd like to check it out. An absolutely huge store that is very well organized and bright welcomed us. We visited every aisle. I got a beautiful Jones of New York purple pull up sweater for my sister, an 80's vibe black sweater dress for myself, and a great pair of suede blue ankle booties. Although this store is very nicely organized, thrifting with them is not cheap. I found a vase for $30. And then a woven basket for $28. For all that, I'll go to home goods and buy brand new stuff. Thrifting used to be affordable for people who can't afford to grab brand new items but it's not that anymore. I saw shirts for $15. For that, you can go to Marshall's, Burlington, target and Walmart and grab brand new clothes. It's just not what it used to be. Also, idk why they had already used candles. Even that was like $7 and at homegoods you can get a brand new, never used candle for the same price. It's a shame. Thrifting has changed so much in the most recent years. read more

As an avid thrifter, I've always considered 2nd Avenue Thrift (formerly Village Thrift Stores) one of my favorite places to shop second hand, but as of recently, their prices have been downright outrageous. Anything that's even remotely nice is $16 or $24, for something DONATED TO THEM and SECOND HAND. Yes, we understand that businesses need to make a profit, but when you're literally generating straight profit from pieces donated and given to them for free (NOT EVEN PAYING FOR THEIR MERCHANDISE TO SELL!!!) it honestly pisses me off. Yeah, I still come here, but during the week when they're not running "color of the day" sales it's just price gouging. As someone who used to thrift because she and her family couldn't afford brand new clothes and the price tags that came with that kind of a purchase, it's sad to see the price increase over the years for family's who can only shop at establishments like this because of their financial situations, especially during the pandemic. Recently they changed names (but they've always been a sister store to the other 2nd Ave stores in Franklin Mills and North Wales) but not much has changed otherwise. Probably raised prices again. They've re-organized the shelves and racks and their book section isn't as good as it once used to be, but stuff like that fluctuates anyways. I'll continue to come here, but I'll continue to complain about the expensive prices for second hand items for sure. read more

This thrift store was okay. The pricing is a bit inconsistent and high across the board. A lot of the clothes are almost regular price which defeats the purpose of going to the thrift store. The store is reasonably clean and there is quite a selection of quality goods overall. I like to come and see what sort of Knick knacks the mix into the random bags of housewares that are usually hanging on the wall. While you can find some unique and vintage items here, again, the prices just aren't hittin. read more

I am M Ave. in Frisco and there are a few qualities that indicate a great thrift store. First, does it have that thrift store smell when you first walk in. This one doesn't. Possibly because it's a larger store and they have great ventilation. Second, is it well organized. This one also ranks high. Not only do they have a separate sections for different types of items but they also separate and sort clothes by size which many thrift stores don't do. You have to look through and find them on your own. Third, is there a area to try clothes on and mirrors to check yourself out without having to use a fitting room. The store also has both. Red white and blue does not offer fitting rooms and Goodwill has no extra mirrors. Forth, variety. This store always has an abundance of everything. It's hard to come here and not find something that you're looking for. Lastly is price and sales. Everything here is very well priced and they frequently have 50% off sales. Overall this is one of the better thrift stores in this area and when you definitely want to read more

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS AWESOME THRIFT STORE?????? It's quite frustrating shopping here now. Unfortunately, there are super nice individuals who camp out in this store from sun up to sun down. These awesome angels hang out by the warehouse doors and beautifully attack the poor employees who try really hard to get the goods out on the floor. One sad day, someone will get accidentally hurt. That will be a terrible thing, especially when absolutely no one in management has stopped this gracefully, vulture -like behavior. This used to be my favorite place to come after a hard day at work. I used to call it my "Woosah" time and I'd shop for hours. Now, I find myself cringing at the thought of going inside. Maybe they should have one special day a month for the thrifters who miss the old way of shopping which includes coming home with a nice little treasure or two. Just give us two hours without the headache ! A special day for those who Just want to do some regular shopping and not risk the danger of being ran over or hurt by the nice door hoarders. A special day for the shoppers who do not chase the employees from the back door to the floor and completely empty their racks before they can make it to the floors. I doubt if that "special day" will ever come, but it's worth a try. Oh and perhaps you can put a mirror over by the women's section. A mirror that is just like the one in the men's section. This way, if we want to see how a really cool jacket looks on us, we don't have to be gawked at by those who stand in the men's section near the mirrors hoping to catch someone's shirt rise up over their belly button. Since there are no longer any dressing rooms...a mirror in the women's section would be actually a nice idea. read more

I went into this store today, and ask about motor chair or anything to assit people with disabilities. The Supervisor became very ingornant, and nasty when I asked him ( Do they have accommodatons for seniors or people with disabilities? )He said no, we dont and we not getting any for that! and laughed in my face. He preceeded to walk over to a guy with a bright blue shirt on and the security guard at the door They all stood there looking over at me and stared laughing. I found nothing funny about the question, So as they continued laughting, I started to walk over to them with my shopping cart, and they all disappeared in a blink of a eye. They need to learn how to respect and deal with seniors and disabable customers. I felt so embarrassed, I left the filled cart right there, and walked out the store. As I was outside waiting for my ride,another disable senior came out and experienced the same situation, @Second Ave Village Thrift, your staff sucks, and your Supervisors, and other workers need training in Customer Service. I will continue to write about this store until something changes for people with disabilities. read more

This is a great place to find odds and ends, the day that they have sales, those days are amazing to stop in and everyday it's a different sale. The employees are helpful and the all wear face mask. They have hand sanitizer and wipes! read more

Been coming to Village Thrift for about 15 years now, and over the last few years they have definitely stepped up their game. Everything is very organized by department, size, type, etc. and not just for clothes but for all the other home goods items as well. The store itself is clean, with lots of employees around constantly restocking, rearranging & organizing the racks & shelves. One of the better thrift stores in the area as far as organization & stock, however their prices are on the higher side compared to your typical Goodwill. They do have changing rooms in the back corner, but there was a pretty long line waiting to use it. My suggestion, worth it to check out, but don't expect bottom-dollar thrift store prices, and expect to wait a bit to try anything on. read more

Pros: The clothing was beautifully organized (style, size, and color) Tons of selection (full racks, but not to the point you're struggling to see what's there Cons: Pricing (everything is on the higher side because they do discount tag days throughout the week) Also in regards to pricing, any trendy/higher end brand I found was like 3x the price of anything else on the rack. I was a consumer at 2nd Ave Thrift Superstore in Hamilton, NJ. My major complaint is that I used to buy bags of jewelry for resale. In the beginning, it was great finding nice jewelry at a decent price for me to resell on eBay. Then within the past month, the bags of jewelry are not like they used to be. Buying bags of jewelry with nothing but broken pieces, mardi gras beads and long strands of faux pearl beads does not work out too well for me and is NOT worth paying $39.95 for each bag of used jewelry. 99 % of the recent purchases of jewelry bags, I threw out in the trash and were not worth buying for resale. Something is NOT right. My friend buys bags of jewelry at the Pennsauken Store. She buys bags of jewelry with nice used jewelry for resale. I have a question for the employees at the Hamilton Store. Do they have cameras in the back room? If not, somebody needs to do something about this. You DEFINITELY NEED CAMERAS TO PREVENT EMPLOYEES STEALING THE STORE'S INVENTORY. When you sell bags of jewelry that have broken pieces and jewelry that no one would want to purchase for resale, that store is going to lose money. An employee in the back room is stealing the good used jewelry. I don't like to put the blame on someone working at the store, but it is pretty obvious something is going on. read more

This place really surprised me. I was expecting another Goodwill, but this place was awesome! It's HUGE, everything is separated by type (sleeveless blouses, long sleeve blouses, activewear sleeveless, activewear pants, sleepwear, jeans, dress pants, dresses) and then separated by size. So easy to find the right section to look in for what you want. The prices were very fair (and when I got to the check-out, the prices that were on the tags were actually higher than what the final check out price for each item was (not sure if it was a sale day, this was my first time here). The shoe selection was great, in popular styles and popular sizes. Fitting rooms available, the place is organized and spacious. Also, Carlos the cashier was super friendly and very nice. I went shopping for my Halloween costume and was surprised that a dress cost over 20 bucks, shoes over 9 dollars and shaw was 19. For used clothes?! Heck no says my wallet. When I asked about the price the dressing room worker had to grab a translator. When I left (empty-handed) I had black dirt marks on my hands. From what? I've passed Village Thrift Stores countless times on my way to Philadelphia and recently decided to check the place out. The parking lot was a bit of a mess, but there was plenty of room to create your own spot. Inside, the store is organized. The store is split into sections; clothing for kids, men and women, house wear, glass wear, furniture, etc. Signs above each section make it easy to navigate. Prices are either labeled on a tag or written directly on the item. Every item in the store is labeled a different color. Those colors are then discounted on different days. Some items are a great deal, while others you are better buying off new. Village Thrift claims to put out 1,000 new items every day- so there is plenty to explore here. read more

I came in here looking for a bookshelf, as I'm not handy enough myself to piece a new one together. Village Thrift is huge and situated right off of 130 at The Pub. Unfortunately, like others have said, most of the place is brimming with clothes. And, I mean, I like clothes. Clothes *are* important, but, gah, I just need to find a bookshelf! Drove by this place while on my way to a Goodwill and it definitely beat my expectations. Probably the biggest thrift store I've ever been in. There was a great selection of almost anything you would go to a thrift store expecting (except for furniture, which was clearly space limited). Toys were pricier than I expected for thrifting, but they did gather together smaller toys in baggies for organizing and simplicity. Definitely coming back here again! read more

It could be my superior vintage shopping karma, but the last time I visited Village Thrift (Nov. 2010), I only spent 20 minutes rifling through the women's sweaters, but quickly located three cardigans and a poncho (!) that ended up costing a mere $12. That particular Saturday was BOGO women's sweaters, but the prices were still very reasonable. The store itself is colossal, something like a supermarket of secondhand, and very very clean. It doesn't even have that thrift store-smell that can be so off-putting to some. The next time I voyage out here, it will be for hours, to examine every single item for its fashion potential. This thrift store is my mecca. I journey here on a semi-annual basis for a frenzy of shopping. You must prepare yourself for the village thrift. It is like combat. Wear a tight shirt and (if you are a lady) a big roomy skirt. There are no dressing rooms, you will be trying things on in the aisle, because you have no fear and no shame and it is important that those 6$ jeans actually fit before you take them home. You may see some horrible things. I once witnessed a gigantic woman in spandex beating her child in the toy section. But you must GO ON. The place is huge. Allow a minimum of 2.5 hours. Do not be afraid to ask for the things on the wall. Do not be afraid to thoroughly inspect each item. Praise the tag colors that are half off for that day. The home goods section yields amazing items and bargains. I bought a leather jacket here 10 years ago for 15$ that is still going strong. Feel the sweet sense of victory as you walk out to the parking lot, 2 garbage bags full of patterns, pants, accessories, sequins, shoes, and more. Repeat the cycle 1-2 years later. I've been coming to Village Thrift since I was in high school, but it hasn't been until recently that I've come to understand just how great this place is. Thrift stores come a dime a dozen in the Philadelphia area, but not all of them are as well organized or stocked as this particular VT. Growing up, I was conveniently located down the highway from the store. I now live up in the NE end of Philly and will gladly pay tolls just to find myself some great deals. The store looks like a junker on the outside, but don't let that fool you. Once you get inside, the place is well lit and clean. The clothing is divided up by gender and age-range. It is then sub-divided by type of clothing. Sometimes, even that is sub-divided (ie, skirts are divided into long skirts and short skirts, which I love because I don't wear short skirts and I can skip that section entirely). You don't have to worry about combing through dozens of tees just to find one button-up because they've already separated them out for you. Oh, and the staff is really good about keeping the sizing in order. As far as the selection and pricing goes, the last time I went there, I spent maybe $20 and walked away with 2 short-sleeve button up shirts (on of them a red silk shirt from Express) and 4 skirts. I would suggest passing through the sections you are shopping more than once because new items are being added as you shop. I did this and ended up finding a bright yellow skirt that wasn't there the first time I walked through. There are clothes from all over the designer spectrum at VT. Express, Target, Forever21, Loft, Talbots, Old Navy, GAP, etc. The prices definitely vary from "OMG THIS IS A F***ING STEAL!" to "Really? They want me to pay THAT for THIS?" However, I've still never seen anything so totally unreasonable that I'd never come back. Their home section is pretty good, too. They've got tons of dishware at great prices (I've seen whole Mikasa collections for pennies a piece). I've never bothered to check out their furniture, though. Things to consider before going for your first time: - They won't sell to you if the item is missing it's price tag. It's a bummer, but the cashiers aren't there to set the prices. - There are no dressing rooms. I always wear a jersey skirt and a tighter tee so that I can try things on. You won't get funny looks for this, either, which is nice. ----- At some point in 2013, they built dressing rooms into the store. They're not the nicest or made out of sturdy materials, but you can finally try clothes on without looking like a weirdo in the aisles if you don't want to. read more

My problem is that in the last few months the prices have risen dramatically. the people like me who shop there need a bargsin. For an example, a pair of used van dneakers for men had a ticket on it of $49.99, you can buy them new for $55.00. Come on! Then a Tommy Hillfiger dress shirt for $29.99. The second thing is there are a lot of resellers who park in the back of the store they sit on the furniture with food and stuff waiting for the stuff to come out of the back, those of us who shop here for ourselves don't even have a shot and they are there all day read more

The kids like to hit this place on the way back from the city. Pros: Lots of crap to sort through. Sometimes there are brand new items that look like nobody ever touched them. Got a $30 kids cash register, WITH the play money inside for $2.50. Lots of dolls in the front of the store, hanging in bags over the kids clothing. Ditto on stuffed animals, if you're into them. Sometimes they have 'grab bags' in the toy section, with a mixture of items in them. Other times, it looks like someone played "Pick up any three items off the floor, toss 'em in a bag, and slap a ridiculous price tag on it." Half price tickets every day, if you can't remember what the colors are, look up front and they're hanging up on a big sign. Cons: Kids running wild, breaking stuff. Dirty looks from the staff if you ask to see something in the showcase in English. Giant potholes in the parking lot that fill with water when it rains, and I swear there are damn sharks in there. Pricing is often inconsistent. Two of the same item on the same rack? One could be $2 more. Sometimes people rip the tags off stuff and if you give the tagless item to an employee, they start screaming "Can't Sell It, Can't Sell It." Yeah, and if you never put a price tag on it, it'll be here forever. I'm not trying to defraud you, Dude! Go price your stuff, eh? Bars on some of the windows. Not for the faint of heart, or those who are hooked up to a Purell IV line. Good place to rummage around without the kids. read more

I have been a customer of Village Thrift for at least 10 years. Today I walked in and was asked to check-in my backpack and decided that I would never shop there again. I simply told the lady "Nevermind" and exited the store. While most people do not regularly carry backpacks and many people will not be able to relate, women are very rarely asked to check in their pocketbooks and purses (for, I assume, security reasons,) and I find the policy discriminatory. If there are shoplifting issues in the store, they can be deterred through customer service and the watchful eye of their sales people. I do not feel comfortable handing over my personal belongings to a stranger for the hour or so I would probably be shopping in the store. I bike in the city and find it impractical to have to switch bags when I have to use my car, and have carried a backpack every time I've been to Village Thrift in the last 4 years. This new policy is disappointing and lost them a loyal customer. I loved Village Thrift for their fantastic housewares and rarely left the place empty handed, although most of these comments about overpriced clothing is spot on. The Goodwill on Rt. 70 will be receiving all of my business when I go thrifting over the bridge from now on. read more

If she behaves that way to me, she does to others as well. She should consider a job where she does not interact much with people. WHEW intense out here! This is the Wal-mart of thrift stores, it is absolutely gigantic and chock full of a huge variety of stuff. Toys, silverware, vintage corningware, candlesticks, seasonal (Halloween!) merchandise, shoes, handbags, belts, sheets, comforters, bridal/bridesmaid gowns, and the requisite women's and men's clothes. Everything is well organized, and the housewares sections are great. Clothes are vast majority contemporary and a bit overpriced in my opinion ($6.90 for a brandless knit maxi skirt ca.1995 just wasn't worth it for me), but still a great place to scour if you're in the area. Only vintage piece I tried on was an A-line midi skirt for $3.90. I left with $13 of dishware and was happy with the vintage pieces I got. The quantity of material here is just incredible.
