This small restaurant in a food court sandwiched between others was a place I've been meaning to…read moretry, but I waited until I had another stop nearby. The indoor mini mall it's inside looks fairly new, with a nice upbeat atmosphere. I wasn't expecting to find authentic African food in Lenexa. African Dream features Nigerian specialties like fufu, and that also looked tempting, but one good meal was my objective. My server Ria was gracious and helpful. She helped me select a meal for takeout, and I had a 20-minute-plus drive to reach home, where I devoured this memorable meal (had at a reasonable price) in less time than it took to drive home. I had the brisket platter with sides (served in a takeout container). The brisket was, in a word, delicious! I'll be back for sure. The cabbage and rice dish sides were nice, too, and they complemented the brisket just fine. I'm glad that I arrived in time for the last small portion of their brisket. It looks like it usually sells out at lunch, but it's Monday and the entire food court wasn't busy. It was tender and smoky, with a light au jus style sauce. Yum. Parking was just okay on the street, and most spots were taken around my near-5 p.m. arrival, but I lucked into a parallel spot very close. My only tip would be if you're a brisket hound like me, park and arrive earlier! I shall return! (5 stars!)

I was very disappointed. I had such high hopes make it spicy!!!!!! we can handle it. The chicken portions were very small also. Meat portion with three sides was $13 plus tip. Also is the cuisine Ethiopian? There were no descriptors.

Went here for the first time over the weekend and we will definitely be back!…read more We ordered the jerked chicken with jollof rice as well as the curry chicken with rice and peas. We also got slices of lemon raspberry cake and another cake (can't remember . I really enjoyed the seasoning and kick of the jollof rice. The chicken with both dishes was very tender and came apart with ease. The people taking our order were very friendly and I loved the atmosphere for the short time we were in there (full disclosure, we ordered our food at the counter to go). Eager to come back and try some more items from the menu!

After being in for some time, you kind of get used to it but it's still there. The lady at the front who might've been the owner was very friendly and was making conversations and joking. She definitely made it more welcoming. I came about an hour before closing and they were already taking down the grill so there wasn't any plantain or Rasta pasta. There was however oxtail and that's what led me there. The oxtails were delicious and tender! It came with jollof rice and cabbage. The rice was decent, nothing too crazy that makes it stand out from the rest of the jollof rices and the cabbage was not my favorite but it did go great mixed with the rice and oxtail. I also enjoy the Jamaican sayings written all over the place. Reminds me of growing up with the elders and hearing their "wisdom". I'd come back, the food was good!
