IMHO - Both my wife & I lived in Clarkston, MI, area for the last 25-30 years until we retired in 2019 & moved to Harrison, MI. We stumbled upon Timbers Restaurant soon after we moved. Divine Providence !!! This restaurant is now both of our absolute FAVORITE restaurant in ALL of Michigan! We have tried many of their menu offerings since 2019, and every menu item has top notch 5 star quality! Exceptional taste & quality with every dish. My favorite is the Bourbon Salmon & my wife's favorite is the Cherry Almond Whitefish! As I write this, I'm drooling, as the flavor of that Bourbon Salmon still haunts me. Wonderful! The Cherry Almond salad was the best salad I've had in a long time. Simple and delicious. The homemade blue cheese dressing was full of blue cheese. I stopped here about a year ago and my experience was awesome. Stopped in again last evening and had a great experience again. Bartender Kaitlin was awesome, very attentive and very friendly! The interior was very woodsy and cabin like. Fireplace which they use in the winter looked very inviting. Their burgers and potato skins are fantastic! Burger was cooked perfectly to rare temp. We were glad we stopped and gave Timbers a shot. We had heard of Timbers for some reason, so we thought let's try it. Boy were we glad we did. The outside does not scream "great place" but the staff and food will outshine any hesitation you have on the outside decor. The inside was rustic and to go with the name, lumber oriented. The place was not that busy when we stopped, thus we had zero wait. We were seated at a high top for four. The place has high tops, regular tables and booths for your normal dining experience. They also have a full bar as well. The only downside in my opinion were the bathrooms. The staff, especially our waitress was extremely nice and helpful with our food choices. Her recommendations were all a hit with us and we appreciated her willing to tell us which items were good, beyond "everything" is good comment. We shared the "Water's Edge Platter", which was a wonderful assortment of things to include grilled shrimp, deep fried shrimp, baked white fish covered in seasoning and Alfredo, fettuccine Alfredo and the vegetable of the day, which was asparagus. The dish is $25 but we split it based on our waitress's recommendation. Each plate came out with basically the exact same thing and we were most pleased we split it as it was more than enough to split. The white fish was seasoned really good and the alfredo sauce made the flavors so creamy. The grilled shrimp were done to perfection and the seasoning was just strong enough but not too much to overpower any of the shrimp taste. The deep fried shrimp was very tasty, especially with the shrimp sauce. The fettuccine Alfredo was extremely good and the Alfredo was some of the best we have had. Our waitress said the food is all prepared by culinary chefs and it's easily believable. The asparagus was a bit mushy but very tasty and complimented the plate well. The hard roll was a bit too hard for my taste but I ate it without too much complaint. Ok, now for the dessert! The caramel brownie cheesecake is a definite must even if you're full. The first bit was an absolute bite of heaven. Each additional bite made your eyes roll back and made you thankful you ordered it. Highly recommended. Thanks to our waitress. Definitely worth the $7! We went by Timbers on our way home and it was busier than during out visit, which was not a big surprise. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop. read more

This restaurant really sits in the sweet spot of price, quality, service, location and variety. We stopped in on a whim after a very long day at a funeral. We were seated quickly by a very friendly and welcoming host. Our waitress was also prompt, let us know if the specials, got drinks quickly and was so pleasant throughout. We started with coconut shrimp which were perfect.. so good I forgot to take a picture. Wife got a mule which she loved. For dinner we had a margarita pizza and the sea food/whitefish sampler platter. I think the most impressive thing is the obvious care placed in every dish. They don't just turn out plates but carefully craft your meal. They put the same care in the service, offering to do things like split plates (they have huge portions) and knowing exactly when to let us enjoy our meal and when to stop by and check on us. The food was perfect. Sooooo good. The pizza crust really shined as it was doughy, had a nice crunch and was the prefect chewiness. Our white fish was excellent, the fries were clearly hand cut. And even the ranch dressing came in a little boat and tasted house made. For the price you won't find better. read more

Went there a couple of evenings ago. I had the Tree Hugger steak and he had the Drift Wood. I can't even begin to describe how good both our meals were. Very tasty and a huge serving. Forgot to take pics before we started eating, so I took the picture when i was half finished. Hubby had the almond cherry salad with chicken. He said it was very good and it was also a huge portion. Our friend is on a low carb diet so she had the bacon burger with no bun. She said it was cooked just right and it came with a side salad. This was an easy 5-star review, if it wasn't for a horrific (initial) customer service experience. Arriving to a packed house on a Friday night we were told it was a 15 minute wait for a table. Not a problem. After being sat we were in our booth for nearly 20 minutes without ever so much as being greeted (or even seeing) our server. After returning to the host stand to ask for someone to come get a drink order at least while we wait, the waitress finally arrived to do just that. After another 10 minutes after simply asking for waters, they finally arrived having to be brought over from another server. Another 15 minutes go by and finally we moved ourselves to the bar and from there on our the evening was an amazing experience. The bartender (wish I would have gotten his name) was incredibly attentive (even with having a full bar), super friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. After we were actually able to order the food came out fast, and it was worth every second of the wait. My wife and I both had the 'Cadillac of Steaks', and the name fit the dish perfectly. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, just melted in your mouth. Topped with a delicious Garlic Butter and served with perfectly cooked and well seasoned Baked Potatoes & Veggies. It was one of the best meals I've had in the state. The overall menu selection is vast, and well balanced in price range. Partnered with a large selection of available drinks to pair with your meal.
