I don't think I've ever met a more honest guy than Greg. We wanted to get our roof re-shingled, so…read morewe had him come take a look and give us an estimate. The result? We didn't need new shingles for another five years at least. WHAAAA? Someone is actually telling us we don't need to spend money with him yet? Well, that changed when the Great Hail Storm of NE MPLS came around in May. We immediately called Greg, and, after much fussing with our lame-o insurance company, we got our new roof! His guys dropped off shingles one afternoon, started working the next morning, and were totally done by that night. Greg and some others came to do final clean up the following day, and they seemingly got EVERYTHING. No nails. No trash. No shingles. Nada! When the roofers got up onto our roof in the morning, it immediately became apparent that we needed to get the whole thing re-decked. Greg went to work for us, promptly getting the materials the workers needed to complete the job the right way. He also helped us navigate the codes and other requirements our insurance company needed us to document. Even with that setback, by sunset the work was done and all was quiet - and safe from all elements. All of the work cost us several thousand dollars less than other estimates we'd gotten when the roofing vultures descended on our neighborhood, and I dare say it was completed by the most honest, skilled guy around. Greg is super nice, wants his customers to be happy and satisfied, and pretty obviously believes in doing a job 100% right the first time. We've recommended Oneka to everyone, so naturally I had blab to the Yelp-iverse, too. We have a beautiful new roof that's going to last us a long time thanks to Greg + Oneka Roofing!

    Tacheny Exteriors - New roof!

    Tacheny Exteriors

I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because the finished product appears to be fine. Not what I…read morewanted, but it is what it is at this point. The ProVia Endure windows are functioning well, and the lifetime warranty provides some reassurance, though that confidence was significantly eroded by the process of getting here. A 1-star rating would be justified based on the experience alone. I hired Tacheny Exteriors in June 2025 to install three ProVia Endure casement window sets in my home. The project involved creating new rough openings, headers, and framing. The original contract was $15,200. Electrical work was not in the bid. Once walls were opened, wiring needed to be relocated, adding $1,458. This can happen with older homes and is worth knowing going in. If you're having new openings cut, it may be advisable to have your own electrician on standby. In my case, I had no choice but to accept the price given since the walls were open and the project needed to keep moving. Two of three windows were installed approximately 11 inches from the agreed placement. The basement window was also misaligned by 4 inches horizontally and 1 inch vertically. Tacheny initially acknowledged these errors in writing and offered to move the windows. After key staff left the company, that acknowledgment was walked back, and I was told I should have drawn diagrams on the wall to prevent the error. The project consultant, installer, and production manager all left during my project. The building permit was filed incorrectly as a replacement rather than a new opening, causing a required framing inspection to be missed. Tacheny was notified by the city in July 2025 to correct it, but the inspection was never called in. When I raised this, I was told the error was the city's fault and that most cities no longer require mid-construction inspections. I verified both claims with the city inspector and neither was accurate. The inspector accepted photos but noted the gap in the final report and that a vapor barrier was not installed on the living room header. The permit was also filed at approximately $10,100 despite the contract being $15,200. The NFRC stickers on the installed windows did not match the ProVia spec sheets from contract signing, showing Southern climate ratings instead of North-Central with significantly different air infiltration numbers. ProVia would not provide formal written confirmation, so I obtained a signed letter from Tacheny confirming the correct windows were installed. This might not have been an issue at all, but my trust was completely undermined by this point. Communication was a consistent challenge with extended gaps in responses and claims of communications I never received. Information from Tacheny was sometimes inaccurate and had to be corrected after I verified details with the city inspector. The project required me hiring a lawyer and a negotiated $5,000 settlement adjustment. The initial invoice labeled this a "Goodwill Discount," mischaracterizing the adjustment, and had to be corrected. Contract to final payment took nine months. I want to note that the issues I experienced, including communication failures, installation errors, blame-shifting to the customer, permit and inspection problems, and extended project timelines, appear to be consistent with experiences described by other reviewers on both Google and the BBB. Potential customers researching Tacheny should also be aware that there are two separate Tacheny Exteriors listings on the BBB, one in Minnesota and one in Arizona, with the same logo. Make sure you are reading reviews for the correct location. The windows work fine. The challenges were in project management, communication, installation accuracy, and permits. Document everything in writing, verify permit claims with your city, and be prepared to manage the project yourself.

Again, BUYER BEWARE. Tacheny's reply to our review is filled with several gross misrepresentations…read moreand is perfectly indicative of the spin they will put on any situation to avoid bearing responsibility. While they originally stated that we had "terminated" a previous contractor, that was patently false and they have since edited their reply to reflect that. We don't know why Tacheny would refer to a previous contractor (who was hired for roof repair) since it insinuates that we are people who habitually hire and fire contractors, which is also completely untrue. Tacheny challenges our statement that the cedar lap was in 'excellent condition' and instead states that it "displayed rot and cracks"--also untrue. The cedar lap siding is solid and has been inspected by a contractor who has extensive experience working on old home restoration. Tacheny can make all the conjectures they want about why the "prior owners installed metal siding", but we are actually good friends with the previous owner and know for a fact that the house was wrapped to lower the maintenance requirements (which was common from the 40s to the 70s because painting is expensive). At the time, we didn't know how much of the cedar was under the aluminum, which is why we were elated that almost all of it was still there, intact, and worth restoring. As for our insurance claim, we don't quite understand how they can take credit for a 47% increase in the claim value. Our insurance company is also curious about this since all of the roof and almost all of the siding had already been approved for repair back in 2022-an entire year before Tacheny entered the project. While they pointed out a few new things to the adjuster, our insurance company isn't sure how they would justify 47%. As we said in our initial review, please read the other one star reviews and note the similarities and patterns. And keep in mind that this is a company who filed an unjustified and overstated mechanics lien on our property without even the common courtesy of notifying us (we happened to notice it on an itemization list they sent us). And while they didn't want to refund us the $10,186.74 we asked for, they did offer us $5000 in exchange for not posting negative reviews. After all of the negotiations, we were grateful that in the end they chose not to refund us anything, because we feel it is more important to share our story and warn other homeowners.

I strongly recommend not using them, but if you do, and the later regret it and find yourself reading this review, you will understand that you need to ensure that while they're working you are making frequent and detailed observation of the work being done. Trying to get these guys to follow through on their 10 year warranty is next to impossible (nearly a dozen calls and emails over nearly a year to get them to schedule a return visit to "check it out"). But oh, the promises! "We will make it absolutely right," and "We stand by our work and want to make sure you're happy," and "The guys who did that work weren't part of our team, but outside contractors, so I'm really sorry etc." phrases of reassurance. Long story short, after over a year of their ridiculously dishonest 'delay-and-hope-the-customer-gives-up' tactics, they finally returned...and had two guys literally sit on my roof for a day doing nothing because, as they said after about six hours, they "didn't have the right tools." Oops! Rescheduling time again! Fast forward another 6 months (Fun fact: did you know that conditions to work on a warranty roof have to be absolutely perfect in temperature, humidity, and every weather condition in the universe? They were seemingly waiting for a mystical fifth season in another dimension. Then, when the weather was absolutely perfect for two or three weeks in a row, they were just too busy, or they didn't answer the phone or email at all.) Finally, nearly 2 years after the work was done they reworked one of the errors that they made, and told me the others were impossible to work on because of the shape of my roof and angle of my house. End result, it was incredible! For six months. Then the shingles started bubbling, because of, get this: the sun...and now I get to enter back into my favorite video game: aggressively pursuing Sela's fulfillment of their broken commitment. Ready player one.

She said we don't do that in this dept but I'll set up an app't with our Soffit and Fascia group. And we cannot do it until next week since it is too cold this week. Ok. This was bad since I am moving away and renting out my bldg and wanted to get this setup before I left. But ok, I will wait. The guy called me on Monday and had 0 information that I had shared teh previous week. So I explained it all again at which point he said, "We don't do repairs. We only do complete soffit and fascia replacement. Yay, I wasted over 20 min on the phone and lost 5 days from my critical timeline because they are disorganized and the original person had no idea how to properly assign work and was unable to actually write down what I said. Annoyed? Absoluely.

So when we needed new roofing, siding, gutters, gutter covers, facia and soffits I obtained several quotes. Erik didn't hesitate to come out to Farmington and quote the project. We had some "slick" salespeople and we had a guy that wouldn't give me a quote (he really didn't like women was my opinion) and would only deal with the insurance company. Erik was professional, honest and not "slick." The price was fair. My test is always the "warm and fuzzies." After a few meetings with Erik, he had my business. Then came the problems. Every color combo for all of the above items had items out of stock, discontinued or something. Erik made a lot of phone calls and several vendor trips. I have no idea how many combos we went through - probably 15 or so. Finally we found a combo that could be put together. YEAH!!!! Erik was patient through all of the "I hate neutrals" moments and several trips of holding colors against the house in different light. Roof install went well and then we had to wait 2 weeks for the siding. The siding installation was completed and they came back and fixed a couple of small items and we were done before Thanksgiving. Erik was around almost daily and even picked up extra FOD on his own. They installed our new lights and Ring cams too. Erik was easily reachable and kept on top of the project and kept me up to date. Very impressed. They were within $7 of the original quote (I think permit fees changed). Very happy and thankful that I selected Erik and Roofs R Us.

I highly recommend everyone stay away from TCR. TL;DR several roofing installation mistakes made,…read moresevere lack of communication from TCR throughout the entire process, and I was asked to write a review before work even began - red flag. After getting roof replacement quotes from 5 different companies, I decided to go with the second to cheapest option - which was Twin City Roofing. And of course, I got what I paid for. The problems began after I signed the quote and handed over the deposit check. I live next to a day care and young children play outside all of the time. Paul, the project manager that was working with me, suggested they perform all of the work on the 4th of July week since kids likely wouldn't be at the day care then. I arranged with my neighbor to not have kids there that week. A few weeks go by and I didn't hear from Paul or anyone else at TCR. The Friday before the 4th of July week, I reached out to Paul to find out when they would be coming and he said "Next week I believe". Then on Monday when no one arrived, I reached out to Paul again. He responded by saying he was on vacation and that Robert P. in the production office could help. I reached out to Robert and he said "I can tell you it won't be this week." Obviously I was unhappy that the roof wasn't going to be replaced that week but I was more upset with the lack of communication throughout the process. It should not be on the client to have to contact the company multiple times to try to get answers. Nonetheless, when the roofers came to replace the roof on my house, garage and shed, they came unannounced. The concerning issues came from work on the roofs. The shingles on the ridge of my shed transitioned from shingles that are meant to be put on ridges to what look like starter shingles. It is very obvious this is not correct. And on my garage, there is a full 15" of a starter shingle that is literally just hanging from the edge of my roof. How did this get missed?? And the biggest issue is with the flat roofs on my house. I asked all of the appropriate questions to Paul from the outset to make sure that there would be grading on the flat roofs such that all of the water would flow to the spout and drain. Alas, a few days after the work was complete, we got our first rain storm and I saw water pooling along the edges of the flat roof and heavy pooling in one corner. I contacted TCR on July 14th and sent pictures of all of these issues. I didn't get a response so I sent a second email on 7/20. I finally got a response from Tyler and he asked me when would be a good time the following day for him to check out my issues. I responded with a time in the morning. I then didn't hear back from him and he did not show up the next day. I was later contacted by Robert and he said he was working on a game plan on getting my issues addressed. Five days later (7/26), he sent another email saying he would have a game plan the following day and he would let me know. As you can imagine, I did not hear from him on 7/27. I emailed Robert again on 7/28 with no response. Finally on 8/9, Tyler came out to my house to take pictures of my concerns. He agreed that all of them need to be addressed. He said he would let me know soon what the next steps would be. I have not heard from him since. I emailed Robert on 8/16 telling him Tyler came out to my house and that I was looking for more information when the fixes can occur. I have not heard from TCR since - at all. I should have known from the get go something was off because after I gave Paul the deposit check, he asked me to write a good review of his efforts to boost the company. I was certainly not going to write a review for services that had not yet begun. If you do go with TCR, make sure to pay as little as possible up front so they have to come back and fix issues before they get their full payment.

The crews showed up without warning three times, which is dangerous and disruptive for my tenants. They attached my gutters to rotten wood that was supposed to be replaced and left the gutter guards with space so debris can get in. I have never felt so helpless and trapped in a contract with a company that does not communicate about what is to come, what has happened, and what will be. I am not certain or confident that the work has been finished and finished well. They really broke my trust. The stress, anger, and fear that I have felt for the past six months cold never be worth the price.
