I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because the finished product appears to be fine. Not what I wanted, but it is what it is at this point. The ProVia Endure windows are functioning well, and the lifetime warranty provides some reassurance, though that confidence was significantly eroded by the process of getting here. A 1-star rating would be justified based on the experience alone. I hired Tacheny Exteriors in June 2025 to install three ProVia Endure casement window sets in my home. The project involved creating new rough openings, headers, and framing. The original contract was $15,200. Electrical work was not in the bid. Once walls were opened, wiring needed to be relocated, adding $1,458. This can happen with older homes and is worth knowing going in. If you're having new openings cut, it may be advisable to have your own electrician on standby. In my case, I had no choice but to accept the price given since the walls were open and the project needed to keep moving. Two of three windows were installed approximately 11 inches from the agreed placement. The basement window was also misaligned by 4 inches horizontally and 1 inch vertically. Tacheny initially acknowledged these errors in writing and offered to move the windows. After key staff left the company, that acknowledgment was walked back, and I was told I should have drawn diagrams on the wall to prevent the error. The project consultant, installer, and production manager all left during my project. The building permit was filed incorrectly as a replacement rather than a new opening, causing a required framing inspection to be missed. Tacheny was notified by the city in July 2025 to correct it, but the inspection was never called in. When I raised this, I was told the error was the city's fault and that most cities no longer require mid-construction inspections. I verified both claims with the city inspector and neither was accurate. The inspector accepted photos but noted the gap in the final report and that a vapor barrier was not installed on the living room header. The permit was also filed at approximately $10,100 despite the contract being $15,200. The NFRC stickers on the installed windows did not match the ProVia spec sheets from contract signing, showing Southern climate ratings instead of North-Central with significantly different air infiltration numbers. ProVia would not provide formal written confirmation, so I obtained a signed letter from Tacheny confirming the correct windows were installed. This might not have been an issue at all, but my trust was completely undermined by this point. Communication was a consistent challenge with extended gaps in responses and claims of communications I never received. Information from Tacheny was sometimes inaccurate and had to be corrected after I verified details with the city inspector. The project required me hiring a lawyer and a negotiated $5,000 settlement adjustment. The initial invoice labeled this a "Goodwill Discount," mischaracterizing the adjustment, and had to be corrected. Contract to final payment took nine months. I want to note that the issues I experienced, including communication failures, installation errors, blame-shifting to the customer, permit and inspection problems, and extended project timelines, appear to be consistent with experiences described by other reviewers on both Google and the BBB. Potential customers researching Tacheny should also be aware that there are two separate Tacheny Exteriors listings on the BBB, one in Minnesota and one in Arizona, with the same logo. Make sure you are reading reviews for the correct location. The windows work fine. The challenges were in project management, communication, installation accuracy, and permits. Document everything in writing, verify permit claims with your city, and be prepared to manage the project yourself. read more

Again, BUYER BEWARE. Tacheny's reply to our review is filled with several gross misrepresentations and is perfectly indicative of the spin they will put on any situation to avoid bearing responsibility. While they originally stated that we had "terminated" a previous contractor, that was patently false and they have since edited their reply to reflect that. We don't know why Tacheny would refer to a previous contractor (who was hired for roof repair) since it insinuates that we are people who habitually hire and fire contractors, which is also completely untrue. Tacheny challenges our statement that the cedar lap was in 'excellent condition' and instead states that it "displayed rot and cracks"--also untrue. The cedar lap siding is solid and has been inspected by a contractor who has extensive experience working on old home restoration. Tacheny can make all the conjectures they want about why the "prior owners installed metal siding", but we are actually good friends with the previous owner and know for a fact that the house was wrapped to lower the maintenance requirements (which was common from the 40s to the 70s because painting is expensive). At the time, we didn't know how much of the cedar was under the aluminum, which is why we were elated that almost all of it was still there, intact, and worth restoring. As for our insurance claim, we don't quite understand how they can take credit for a 47% increase in the claim value. Our insurance company is also curious about this since all of the roof and almost all of the siding had already been approved for repair back in 2022-an entire year before Tacheny entered the project. While they pointed out a few new things to the adjuster, our insurance company isn't sure how they would justify 47%. As we said in our initial review, please read the other one star reviews and note the similarities and patterns. And keep in mind that this is a company who filed an unjustified and overstated mechanics lien on our property without even the common courtesy of notifying us (we happened to notice it on an itemization list they sent us). And while they didn't want to refund us the $10,186.74 we asked for, they did offer us $5000 in exchange for not posting negative reviews. After all of the negotiations, we were grateful that in the end they chose not to refund us anything, because we feel it is more important to share our story and warn other homeowners. read more

In 2022 we needed siding repair due to a deck that was removed leaving exposed walls on exterior I looked at it and could see how the siding had been installed in other sections Housewrap; insulation; furing strips; siding That should work right? Oh no I was firmly reminded by Chrystal that is not how do it is done We have to tear off back of house and replace from top down. I watched This Old House siding repairs and said "no". It can be done as I explained... The sales person on time. The appointment while I thought went well after explaining what was needed: Housewrap: insulation: new white corners; siding to as close to ground as possible I was told about two weeks to get on schedule They took my credit card saying I had to pay 50% down I signed an agreement No siding install till December after numerous visits; missing materials; a crew who had no idea how to do the repair; arguments with Chrystal and Theresa over the job; how to do it;; the legality of the contract and wording; additional charges for skirting to seal in concrete foundation; breaking my external electrical plug in; shorting out outlet causing my gfi to blow cutting off freezer and outlets we did not realize; lost all of our freezer food. HEADACHE AFTER HEADACHE: We hired Tacheny to do an exterior remodel with J.H. siding, stone, & new windows. Work started 6/2021. 2.5 yrs later, in 2/2024, work was completed & we made final payment. Throughout the project, communication, customer service & craftsmanship were disappointing. There are too many issues to detail in the character limit that a google review allows, but I'll highlight a few major issues. While all are now resolved, the stress we went through was enormous. We were met with ignored questions & arguing nearly every step of the way. 1 - Months after our contract was signed, Tacheny called & told us they couldn't perform the work they agreed to at the contracted price because they had forgotten to "price in" $2k for the 0% financing. They finally agreed to do the work at the contracted price, but not without numerous stressful phone calls. 2 - Craftsmanship/attention to detail throughout the project were subpar. There were several examples of the design plan not being followed, though it was clearly marked/labeled on the crew's plans. When we brought it to their attention, siding color mistakes were covered up with paint instead of being replaced with the correct color. In other areas, when pieces needed to be removed/replaced, the adjacent pieces of siding were damaged/scratched, & the surrounding caulk in some areas looks like our school-aged child applied it. 3 - Our Versetta Stone was installed damaged with major chipping. Tacheny's original fix was to cover the stone with paint that wasn't color matched & not approved for touch ups on the face of the stone, thus voiding our manufacturer's warranty. It also changed the entire color scheme of the stone - it was not what we had carefully selected for our home. Getting Tacheny to agree to replace the product was a stressful, weeks-long saga. 4 - Shortcuts left & right: Much of our J.H. siding would have been out-of-warranty because of missing/incorrect flashing, or unmet clearances. The Versetta Stone rep who came out to inspect the damaged stone pointed this out to us. When Tacheny came to "fix" these errors, it was still done incorrectly. We found ourselves in a position where WE had to be the ones sending copies of the JH specifications, explaining why the work done was incorrect. We expected Tacheny, not us, to be the siding professionals inspecting their work to ensure it was completed to manufacturers specs. Our impression was that they either did not know how to complete the work correctly, OR they intentionally took a shortcut & hoped we wouldn't notice. We are left wondering how many other areas have errors not visible to us at this time. CUSTOMER SERVICE HEADACHES: We noticed consistent patterns in our communication with Tacheny to get these and other issues resolved. 1) Many of our questions that were clearly laid out in emails went unanswered. 2) They demanded quick action from us in terms of payment and marking off punch list items with tape, yet often took weeks or, in some cases, months to reply to our emails or address said punch list items. Several non-replies. 3) Gaslighting, arguing, & being told that what we felt were major craftsmanship issues were only noticeable to us. General Manager Theresa threatened property liens several times, even though the work was not completed in a manner that fulfilled Tacheny's end of the contract. She stated in one of her emails that "the contract is based on product installed and not aesthetics." Let that sink in if you're considering hiring this company. They're concerned with getting paid after installing the product (even if sloppy) & not with taking pride in the aesthetics/craftsmanship of the project. Bottom line: If you have reasonable expectations for the quality of expensive work done on your home, look elsewhere. read more

They did our roof from hail damage and did a terrible repair. My husband used to roof when he was younger and checked their work. He had to do the roof caps and fascia over. They broke gutters and threw away our roof cap that was for a fireplace that leaked into our house. We called them many times to come fix these issues and they never showed up. APPALLING! Non-existent communication, very low level quality of work, poor products, and rude staff. I would never recommend Tacheny Exteriors. It took over 2.5 years for us to end up with our "finished project". After years of unsuccessful visits from Tacheny Exteriors to try their best to complete our job my wife and I reluctantly agreed to finalize our contract with Tacheny Exteriors, knowing that we would have to redo, and complete some details on our own. On two instances we were directly lied to by separate employes. I attempted multiple times to get the contact information for the owner to explain our story but was refused the details by Theresa the general manager. From the start this project was a nightmare, so I started taking detailed notes for every visit, call, and email. Unfortunately my notes will not fit within the charter limits of this review. Very long story short. We hired Tacheny Exteriors to remove the screens from our porch and install windows and a new storm door, as well as replace the windows in our attic. We had to have the windows reordered and replaced due to damage and quality issues. We had the storm door replaced 3 times due to improper installation and shipping damages. We had multiple different contractor/installer teams on our project over the 2.5 years all blaming installation quality issues on someone else. Tacheny took no accountability for the massive delays on our project due to their lack of communication, and ability to to hire qualified installers. Shame on Tacheny Exteriors. Tacheny did new siding for our large two story home and we were very happy with them. They kept all promises and did great work, even on all the small details like dryer vents and tricky edges around the garage door. Due to insurance delays snowstorms hit right after we made our large deposit and we had to wait till spring for the siding installation. Naturally giving someone a large deposit and then saying see you in five months would make anyone nervous! But they called me as soon as it was warm enough and got started right away. From sales to support this was a cringe. Tacheny requested payment in full before work could begin. Tacheny project team completely non-responsive to basic questions. Tacheny work crew damaged shrubbery around the house, left cables they removed hanging from home, and failed to complete some of the work in the agreement. And now, water is streaming into our home when it rains. Yup, the Tachney workers damaged our gutter system causing flooding into walls when it rains. To be fair, Tacheny refuses to acknowledge their workmanship was in any way related to this issue even though Tachney workers removed and replaced flashing and shingles at the exact location of the leak. So, I guess I will be hiring someone to fix their work. Friendly reminder to people looking to hire a home improvement vendor, pursuant to Minnesota statute 327A.02, vendors are required to repair defects caused by their workmanship for 1 year. Attempts to contact Tacheny to resolve this issue have been unsuccessful. read more

We have been looking to do a sizable exterior project since moving into our home in Dec 2020. The team that did our estimate was straightforward, explained the process in full detail and offered multiple options for our budget. This is quite the investment and we feel like we have been taken care of from the start. We can't wait to see the work in process and final product but after multiple contractor experiences in the past year - Tacheny was knowledgeable and communicative without being overbearing. We reached out to Tachney when our neighborhood experienced a hail storm. We were admittedly late to the party calling mid-August. After an initial inspection and having them come out and meet with our insurance we were approved and ready for the next step. I messaged asking what document was needed for us to get a quote and contract. After 4 weeks, of calling, texting I finally got an email to send it to. But no response to the question of which document. Another 4 weeks of asking what is next, can we get a contract, I finally got a text message apologizing. I was very understanding that they were busy and that we might have to wait until Spring. But when they can't reply to a text message, email or return a phone call for 4 weeks, that's ridiculous. We ended up going with another company who was able to have us in the queue within a few days. They should not solicit business if they can't handle it. And they need to seriously work on their communication skills. read more

He gave me a estimate of 500.00, which is super high and out of frustration at my neighbor for not keeping his word and fixing it for me I told the guy to fix it and I paid him. I am 77, years old and can't get on roofs anymore so some people take advantage of that with seniors. The job is done and I will never call them again for anything. read more

Scope of Work: New Roof with need for another company to remove the gutters to maintain the warranty. Pros: *The company had good communication before I paid the deposit for the work *They assured me they would contact the company (re: gutters) and I did not need to do that *Were willing to schedule out several months to accommodate my schedule Cons: *After deposit was paid and I was moved to the production area it seemed everything we had agreed upon was forgotten/not communicated. *They never called the gutter company until I reminded them of our agreement multiple times. *When Tacheny called with an irritated tone asking if I wanted to get my roof done I stated I was still waiting to hear from them about the gutters. Their response "We called you 1 month ago and let you know that was your responsibility." This never happened. *Innumerable voice mails and emails went unanswered. * Crew left trash around my yard - plastic wrapper hanging from my apple tree, pop cans and other bottles/trash left hidden in my plants *10 areas of damage to the paint/window on the north side of my house - pictures sent to company with no response *They were communicating additional costs to the insurance company after the insurance company stated there was no storm damage to the roof. When I asked for further clarification from the insurance company they told me multiple times "The contactor (Tacheny) thinks we are paying for the roof and we are not - you need to call them and make sure they know." Communication is non-existent with production unless they wanted something from me. I would ask a lot of questions about communication if you are considering using this company and take it with a grain of salt. read more

Do not recommend! Terrible communication and low quality work. We scheduled to have our garage roof replaced tomorrow (3/25/22). They called at 9:30 this morning stating that they needed to move it up due to the weather and would be arriving in an hour. I was able to quickly accommodate the change, but then they didn't show up and start work until 4.5 hours later. Once they finished the work they left with out saying a word or walking the completed project with us. When scheduling I asked that they not put the dumpster in front of our garage and instead use the large space available to the side. Not only did they put it in front of our garage, but they also left it! I called to ask if they were planning to pick it up and was told yes. It is now 11pm and it's still there. When you call you will get a 3rd party service that takes your information and will "forward your message", but nothing will get done. read more

I requested a quote to replace our residential front door. I had to wait 10 days for somebody to come out. I received a request to postpone by a couple of hours which I agreed to. The quote was then transferred to another estimator which then called and asked if it was OK that they'd be late by an hour ultimately to cancel the estimate and never reached out to reschedule. They sent someone to make an estimate on a garden window replacement, someone who I thought was a professional and could provide a fairly good idea of the cost and timing. He came back with a $7,200 estimate for both the window and installation. In the interim, I had researched window manufacturers and found one with excellent reviews and, especially important in these tight-supply times, could get it to us in approximately three weeks. With this information, I reconnected with Tacheny and told them I could get the window so would just need them to professionally measure and install. That's when they came back with a quote of over $10,000! For the installation alone! Their weak explanation was that their window installing team had not taken into account various details. So I guess the individual they sent out was just an order taker and didn't really know anything about windows, which just wasted everyone's time. Good News Bad News. The staff all seem quite nice however their follow up is horrible. They installed a new GatorSeal underlay roof on our home in November 2021. During the AZ Monsoon Season 2022 two leaks were identified with one being quite severe with water pouring into our kitchen through a recessed light. the other being over the garage. needless to say I immediately contacted Tacheny to properly repair the two problem areas. a crew was supposed to finally be out yesterday December 28th but since it rained they postponed it to today December 29th at 8-10am. Tachney was recommended to me by a trusted general contractor and they did an excellent job! They did a siding repair on my bump out and it was a complicated project that they completed beautifully! I had some hail damage to my roof, so I wanted to get it repaired or replaced before it got cold out. Called three roofers who had gotten positive mentions in my neighborhood Facebook page. Tacheny called me back the most quickly -- in two days. They set up an appointment for me with John Thoni about a week later. They sent me a reminder the day before the appointment and the day of the appointment. But Mr. Thoni didn't show, even though I emailed him about four hours after the appointment time. A few days later, I heard back from him that there had been some problem with his scheduling software and asking to reschedule. We did, and he showed up promptly. He explained the process of getting insurance coverage to me and said he would be there when the insurance adjuster came. We got that all scheduled. Adjuster showed up as scheduled. Thoni did not. In fact, that was two months ago and I have not heard from him or his company again. I know roofing companies were very busy this fall, but one of the other companies got it done for me. Tacheny replaced my roof in 2016. This past winter we notice leaking so we reported it. They sent out someone to look at it and without leaving the ground said the roof looked fine. I suggested that there was a problem and it needed to be address. He agreed to return later this summer and fix it. Since then I have not seen or heard from anyone at Tacheny. I have sent a couple emails to the companies website addresses and have had no response. read more

I would never recommend Tacheny. I have been waiting over 14 months for Tacheny to come repair the damages they caused installing my roofs. They have terrible customer service, are very rude, do not follow through on appointments. They also go back on their promises. They have offered me a bribe to keep quiet. They are trying to get me to pay for the damages they caused after they promised to repair all damages caused by their work to my satisfaction. Their workmanship is shoddy. They had no project manager on site. The subcontractor threatened me bodily and verbally twice. I discovered this same contractor threatened one of their own workers previously in the same manner. Yet they still sent a known predator to my home. They include items on the invoice that are not legitimate. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. It has been a nightmare. I even was forbidden to speak to anyone from Tacheny when they came to effectuate the repairs. I believe they wanted to keep anyone from Tacheny telling me the truth about the subcontractor that threatened me. I believe the repair people didn't show up or cancelled more than 20 appointments. Tacheny has no respect for the customer. They did not notify me they were coming and the materials arrived hours later delaying the work.
