First and foremost, the service was impeccable. You can tell the employees really cared about the product and customer. We built such a strong rapport with them that we ended up getting a HUGE discount that, quite frankly, felt far too generous... but who's going to fight that?! I recently bought my first pair of Timbs. I was happy with the price for the new steel-toe shoes, but I wasn't entirely satisfied with the fit, so I came in on Wednesday to try out a different size. Kelly at this location (34th St) was incredibly kind, helpful, and efficient in finding the right size shoe for me. She put the new pair on hold and I came back the next day with the first pair to make the exchange. When I walked in, Kelly recognized me immediately and happily helped with the exchange. She shared how I can expect the shoes to stretch over time and taught me how to keep them clean with Timberland's eraser/brush duo which I also purchased. Overall great experience! read more

Love Timberland walking shoes because they can double as dress shoes -- never been "caught" once -- yet actually feel comfortable. Walked in and got out in like 10 minutes. This store is very well-organized and staffed. Look, it's a shoe store, what else is there to say. Janet, the store manager here was phenomenal! She was extremely helpful. Here is why: I needed new boots right away because my shoes had a hole in them and itt was raining that day. I looked on Amazon to see the price of the boots, and expected the price to be the same as in the store. When I went into the store, I was devastated to see that the price was $20 more expensive. I only had enough for the online price because my credit card was compromised, and I didn't have access to my bank funds. I explained this to Janet, the manager, and she price sold me the boots for the $20 cheaper! Amazing customer service. Great way to price match. I created an account just to write this review since Timberland doesn't have a place for complaints. Manager of the 34th Street store is racist! Everybody else was friendly and helpful except the manager was pretending to be friendly, super fake. And when I asked the staff if they have a military discount the manager immediately yelled from the other side of the store US military only! I tried to say "US military only huh?" to see if she realizes her rudeness. I guess she still doesn't understand the situation here. I'm never going back to this store as long as somebody like her is still working there. read more

I needed new boots during the winter we had in NYC 2013/2014 so I went into Timberland on 34th looking for a pair of waterproof boots. My first experience with Timbs was back in the 90's with a standard tan pair which were comfortable and reliable not to mention only around 30.00 which I wore 'til I wore them out. Since then I've owned different pairs of boots (mostly combat boots) and never had a problem. Since my past experience with Timbs was good and after looking at all the options on their website I decided to check out a pair. The sales person was very helpful and I found a pair I liked so I made my purchase. One week later I decided to wear the boots but half way through the morning the left boot was irritating my ankle. As the day went on the pain became so bad that I started limping and walking very slowly. When I got home and removed the boot I noticed it had cut into my ankle and the wound was bright red and open. I was unable to wear my old pair of boots for 2 weeks while the cut started to heal and I decided to return the Timbs. Unfortunately, I was told that since I had worn the boots once I could not return them and would have to buy something else. This wasn't a wear them once and return them situation which I've never done. I was very careful with them and made sure they were absolutely clean before going back to the store. A return policy like this has nothing in common with customer satisfaction as I had paid 190.00 for a name brand boot that didn't work out for me. I showed the sales person and the manager my ankle and was told this happens and you have to wear them past this point. As I said I've worn boots and never had this problem, maybe mass production and lower quality control is the underlying problem. To put the blame on the customer is a cheap cop out and seeing how the manager was quick on the defense, he's obviously been through this before. To add insult to injury the manager went so far as to tell me it takes longer to heal as we get older. At this point I was really annoyed but since I still needed boots and after trying on several other styles I found a pair I liked that didn't seem to rub against my ankle so I decided to take them. These boots were 150.00 but the manager still wasn't happy that he had a sale out of me and told the salesperson that I had to buy 40.00 worth of misc. items to total 190.00. I couldn't believe it but since the sales person recommended heavy winter socks I decided to take a couple of pairs. That didn't work out once I found out they didn't have any more socks in my size so after looking a t shirts and other merch. I ended up with a cap and shoe protection cream. I really didn't need the cap, it's to bad the manager had to put his sales numbers ahead of the best interests of a customer The choice to return or not should have been mine in the first place but since I made a purchase in the end, he could have cut me some slack on the 40.00. Moral of the story: don't buy Timberlands if there's an unforeseeable possibility you may have to return them. I won't be going back. read more
