The food here is always interesting and fresh. It's clear they value and know how to source locally. The service is fabulous, always, but tonight Brian took really great care of my family. After a long day of hiking, we enjoyed a terrific meal and our serve, Brian, made sure we had everything we could possibly need, including balsamic drizzle for the vanilla ice cream. This is my favorite resteraunt in hammondsport. They have a delicious menu with tons of great choices. They also have a great selection of local wine and beer. I always try to drink local when in the Finger Lakes. It's best in the summer when the patio is open and you can sit by the water feature. But honestly, go here any time. It's fantastic! read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after a long hike. Timber has that lodge type feel when you walk in. We got a seat pretty quick which was good since we were hungry. We looked at the menu and we were a bit flabbergasted by the high price. Well, I'm sure the food will be great then if the cost is high. I ordered the grain bowl with spicy shrimp. My husband and I were visiting Watkins Glen and decided to check out more of the beautiful Finger Lakes scenery. We found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a go. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, we were the only patrons when we arrived. We chose to sample 3 appetizers and share a bottle of wine. No matter what you order, the calamari is a MUST!!! To die for! We also had the clams... perfectly cooked in a delicious broth. Lastly, we had the charcuterie board. It was more than just a beautiful and authentic presentation, but a delicious selection of cheese and meat. We did not try any of the entrees so we are holding ourselves to 4 stars. That being said, we definitely plan to return to this little gem. The staff could not have been more friendly. They even provided us with tastings of two wines we couldn't decide between. OMG! This place is outatanding!! Nicely nestled in the little town of Hammondsport it's well-worth your stop while you're out wine-tasting. The service was fantastic! I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the service. We ordered online for curbside pickup. The instructions said to leave info about your car and to call when you were outside. They didn't know what I was talking about when I called! What? You ordered online? Who did you talk to? What was in your order? My husband finally went inside. It was busy when he went in, but much emptier when we left. Guess we were not a priority. Finally someone said our order was almost ready - but it wasn't, because it took another 1/2 hour. I don't know if this was because of the online order - but don't offer it if you're not going to check it! But all that being said - the food was AMAZING. I have never had a burger survive takeout, but we had two and the bottom buns didn't even get soggy. There wasn't a leftover shred of food when we were done (maybe because we had to wait so long for it?). Wow! What a gem in the area! We're visiting and camping at the local state park and wanted a filling dinner. We devoured our food! We started with a beer flight from local breweries. Next we had with the calamari and it was delicious. The capers were spicy as well as the peppers but not overwhelming. There was a few thin slices of cheese as well and the calamari with very crispy. Now onto the main dishes- my husband had the cranberry tenderloin with Brussels Sprouts and whipped garlic mashed. The potatoes needed a little S&P but the tenderloin was amazing! It was cooked to a perfect medium with pink throughout and very juicy. I had the bruschetta chicken half size portion and it was just the right size. My sides were zucchini and squash as well as the red skinned potatoes. All the sides on my plate were served in mini cast iron pans which I loved. We finished our evening with a sweet treat- blueberry cheesecake with whipped cream and peanut butter pie with vanilla ice cream. In the future we will share dessert because the portions are very large. The cheesecake was our favorite and the peanut butter pie was very dense and rich (we still finished it). Our waitress told us it was made by the local bakery only a few doors down. Overall we had a great meal and will come back in the future. The service was quick and friendly as well offering to move us inside multiple times when it started to sprinkle. We didn't melt and finished our dinner outside on the patio. My husband and I found this restaurant on Yelp and thought we would give it a try. Bouillabaisse: do not order. It was very salty and I had to send it back. They brought it out again, it's less salty but I think they just watered it down. I didn't want to bother sending it back again. So I ate the seafood in the Bouillabaisse but left the broth. They ended up taking 50% of this soup but still, 50% of bad food is still bad food. House selections of 3 dishes: it was a small portion of steak, some pad thai with 2 shrimps in it, and crab cake. The Pad Thai is not authentic and a little too runny for my taste. Steak and crab cake were ok, but not worth 32 dollar for this dish. Penne Pasta with Chicken: my husband said it was fine. This place was a nice hidden gem on my recent trip to the Finger Lakes. Tucked into the corner of a quaint little neighborhood, TSG could have been forgiven for trying to cater to the mid week wine tasting crowd, but i was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the food. Stopped in on a Thursday early afternoon before a day of wine tasting, and thought the place was going to be small based on the outside. When I entered was amazed by the size of the place. Went with a burger and side salad, which was delicious, if not a little undercooked. Lunch was pretty quick, and i was happily out and on my way within the hour. All in all, a good stop with decent prices. My only point reduction was for the undercooked (but not inedible) burger, and the fact it took 10-15 minutes for the waiter to get our check (was talking to another person table). If you can imagine a version of the Union Square Cafe transported to the pastoral bliss of the Finger Lakes, you have an idea of the experience that awaits you here in Hammondsport. My wife and I arrived for our 7:00 PM reservation and were seated promptly. The hostess was gracious and recommended some specials, appetizers, entrees and craft beers. We ordered a couple of local red ales that were excellent. My wife ordered a stir fried vegetable dish and I opted for Bruschetta Chicken; both were excellent and served up straight away. Our waitress, Sarah, was pleasant and attentive. My husband and I shared the poutine, which was great, and I had the French onion soup and Tuscan calamari for dinner. I have never had such unique calamari as that was: included tomatoes, kalamata olives, capers, and peppers. We made a reservation since we had 7 adults and 3 kids. One big minus they only had one high chair in the place so if you have small kids you might want to consider elsewhere. The place The inside was really nice and very clean. You could tell they put some money into the place. I will say the benched were very hard and not really comfortable to sit in but they weren't horrible either. I did find myself moving around alot. They have really nice outside patio which was packed I wish we could have sat outside! The service The people were very nice and our waitress was very attentive. She came around every so often to make sure were ok and didnt need anything. The food I had the penne with spicy chicken and it was really good. You could tell they used fresh ingredients. My mom got the ribeye and asked for medium rare and it came out still moooing! They comped her 50 percent on her meal which was decent. They also listed some of the local farms they source some of the meats and produce they use which is awesome. The verdict I really liked this place and food was good but the prices are a bit high for what you get. So I think I need to go a few more times to find out if the value is there for the price. read more

It's been a tough vacation. We needed a day and went to Dr. Franks which was amazing and then came to Timberstone for a late lunch. The restaurant is beautiful. And comfortable. We ate outside which was very quaint and comfortable. Our waitress was beyond lovely. I'm sorry that I didn't get her name in order to call her out in this review. We live in Northern Virginia and experience a lot of "high end" restaurants. This place beats them all. Food is excellent however atmosphere is low-key and comfortable. Due to the Coronavirus, Timber Stone Grill was offering a limited menu for curbside pick-up. After previous good experiences, my family and I decided to order for Saturday dinner. We ordered the Timber Family Platter, which included three meats and three sides. We chose the pulled pork Mac n cheese, fried shrimp, and beef tips for meats then roasted potatoes, salad and creamed spinach for sides. Ordering, payment and pick-up were easy and convenient. Unfortunately though, we were disappointed with our order. The pulled pork Mac n cheese was plain noodles and pulled pork. No cheese or butter. I will say pulled pork was good, but I was really expecting a creamy Mac n cheese. The beef tips were also good, but came on top of Mac n cheese (even though it wasn't on the menu?). As for the fried shrimp, only six shrimp were provided and the Family platter claimed to serve a family of four. We had no issues with the sides and to be honest, the creamed spinach was my favorite. However, we were all a bit disappointed and expecting more. I hope to give Timber Stone Grill another try after the Coronavirus. read more

Wow, how is this place the #1 rated restaurant in the town? We stopped here after a day on the lake and ready for good food and drinks. The drinks were tasty - but honestly that's about the only positive here. We had the calamari appetizer which was ok. Pretty obvious they used food distro calamari. What really bugged me was that I noticed several vegetarian dishes on the menu and thought "well okay, this chef must know how to make delicious veg food." So I ordered the vegetarian special of the day which SOUNDED really delicious in the server's description. Unfortunately it was a basic bowl of unflavored, not seasoned, vegetables and packaged "crispy tofu". I tried to like it, really I did. But I finally wound up sending it back. After a few hours on the lake for breweries, we decided to find a new spot to eat. Yelp helped us pick out this little place and I would say we were pleased. It was around Halloween time so everything was in theme, they were also having a costume party that night, too bad we had to go home that night. The parking lot is a bit small, but the town is adorable and the restaurant venue is very nice. It has a rustic feel but very clean and cozy, I think there is outdoor seating but at the time it was a little chilly to be sitting outside. We started off with the calamari, it is very different from what I am used to but it was still very good. Not a bad different, just different! We came during lunchtime but they still let me order the scallops for my lunch dish. Very good. It wasn't enough food for me but it was delicious. My +1 ordered a sandwich and it was good but very large and messy so I'm not sure that he enjoyed it as much as he would have liked. Overall, good place to eat and drink. Stopped here for lunch on my way to some wineries. What a hidden gem. Small parking space and can seat maybe 50 or so total but great local, fresh ingredients and not just frozen or premade foods. I had steamed clams in a wine and garlic broth and French onion soup. Both were very good. Clams were fresh and the French onion soup had a great flavor and seasoning. The person I was with had the salmon burger which was a fresh slice of salmon and not a processed salmon patty. I also had a beer flight of their local beers on tap. Everything was great and the staff was friendly and courteous. Wait times for food are as expected for fresh prepared and cooked items. The place is decorated as an old saw mill and the bar has 2 large flat screen TV's. I would highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat, I can see why it was recommended by some of the local wineries as a great spot to stop. read more

Very disappointed. Yesterday morning (May 29, 2021) I called to try and reserve a table for 2. The recorded announcement stated that if you want to make a reservation, leave a message with the number of people and time you want to come in, and they would call back to confirm. I left the message, and waited until after opening to receive a call to confirm. No one called back, so I called them to request a table for 2 at 7 PM. The woman who answered told me to hold on so she could speak to her manager. After about 2 minutes, she returned and told me she wouldn't accomodate us. She never even tried. No other time... Nothing. She recommended we come in and maybe they would squeeze us in. I mentioned that I'd left a message in the morning and no one called us back as the message stated. She just told me to have a nice day. We were extremely disappointed that this business that once took pride in their quality of food and customer service was more interested in yielding a higher volume than accommodating loyal customers. Thank goodness there are other places in the area that are willing to show appreciation for their return business. My past 4-star rating is now a 1-star rating. Won't even try to make a reservation next time we're in the area. read more
