This is a review of Dr Koretoff and the physical therapy practice…read more I visited Koretoff mid 2024 for ongoing shoulder pain. He spent the entire appointment acting like he was late for other things and had too much going on, really didn't seem interested in hearing what I had to say and was so scattered I thought wow maybe he is just having a bad day and is distracted by something. When I went back for a second follow up visit he was even more distracted and uninterested in talking to me. He repeated the same things over and over as though he forgot he had already told me certain things that same day, kept saying he was really busy and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Based on the first appointment he had referred me to their physical therapy program. This is the key for the practice. It wouldn't exist but for the overpriced PT that is the magic answer for all their patients. Now for the billing. Each THIRTY MINUTE physical therapy appointment is billed at $550 to your insurance. They charge $220 for 15 minutes with a STUDENT physical therapist. $230 for 15 with a licensed PT. I do have a high deductible insurance plan which I am well aware of. This means I owe a larger percentage of whatever the cost is up to my deductible. I have seen other offices and been to PT many times throughout my life and generally expect the total for a PT session to be anywhere from $120-$250 and my portion of the co-insurance to be calculated based on this. In the case of this office, they waited FOUR months until I had completed the recommended course of PT to send me any kind of bill. Strategic, so that I would not know the amount until I had completed my therapy. They have obviously implemented this strategy for a reason. Yes it is my fault for not asking for a bill upfront but never in my life have I seen a supposedly reputable PT practice charge these prices. They received from my insurance over $350 for each one of these $550 thirty minute sessions and STILL want to charge me personally $80 per session. Talk about a RACKET. Wow. When I first received the bill I called immediately with my concerns and very calmly explained the situation and rationale. I was told the office was going to discuss the matter and see what they could do for me. Over the course of the next two months I was not contacted again by SDSM and instead had to reach out to them two MORE times. Each time I was told a different story. At one point the billing office agreed the amount was very high and I was told the actual therapist could agree to a discount and that they were going to discuss this. Again, no follow up just repeated bills in the mail. When I called again to ask the outcome I was told that they can't offer any kind of discount if any portion has been paid by insurance. WTF. I again explained my outrage at the pricing and that I never would have continued and certainly never will go back had I known what they intended to charge. Again, "we will call you back". Each time I made it perfectly clear they were NOT to send this to collections which they agreed. Months went by and I received a bill now almost a year later saying that my account is delinquent and to avoid collections to contact them which I did immediately. After putting me on hold for ten minutes to read the copious notes they have in my file I was told there is nothing they can do except offer a payment plan. Upon supposedly transferring me to the payment plan office she promptly disconnected the line without actually transferring me. I had to call back AGAIN and leave a message. Everyone should be aware that this is their practice. If you are okay with insanely high bills and a practice that takes advantage of insurance (which is why we ALL pay insane premiums) then go ahead and support their business. $550 for a 30 minute PT session. No thanks. And their doctors aren't even good. Needless to say, my shoulder still hurts and now I have a headache and hours of my life lost talking to them about a ridiculous bill. Really wish people wouldn't support a business that takes advantage of insurance and over bills.

We had been to an orthopedist in our insurance network and got no definitive diagnosis and no physical therapy recommendation. I researched and found Dr Robertson specialized in shoulder problems and worked with the San Diego Padres. She also had no definitive diagnosis for my daughter's problem and offered no solution. I asked if an MRI might help with diagnosing. She didn't think it would help but agreed to schedule an MRI at UCSD Health. We went to the MRI appointment and explained I would have to pay upfront for the procedure. The charge was $4,000 for a simple shoulder MRI! I refused to pay and went to Imaging Healthcare Specialists - Encinitas Imaging Center two blocks from my home. The charge was about $120 to the best of my recollection. Hmm... that's quite a difference in price. We went for the follow up appointment with Dr Robertson and at first, she was confused and mumbled something like, "Weren't you the ones that refused the MRI..." (Yep. That was me.) I didn't respond as she looked at the results. She commented there was nothing remarkable on the MRI and had no referral for physical therapy. I thanked her for her time and left the fancy office. As I look at the reviews, I see ratings of either one star or five stars and nothing in between. I agree she is uncaring and unprofessional. I would never refer anyone to her or go back to her again. I can't believe she works with professional athletes. No wonder the Padres continue to come up short every year!

Might be a good surgeon, but that is the ONLY good thing I have to say about him. Wait till you hear what he said to me as I lay in my hospital bed! But I need to set this all up first. God forbid you are an ounce overweight. My first visit to his office for a possible knee replacement (and this should have been my first clue) was the unsolicited advice he gave me in regards to my being fat. Btw, I don't have a problem using that word. I'm fat and I won't be much longer now that I am getting my second knee done by another doctor and will be able to return to my normal activities of power walking and boogie boarding. I was a competitive athlete, so I know what I need to do that I haven't been able to do for several years now. He actually said to me, "Why don't you just eat one meal...EVERY OTHER DAY." WTF?! Who gives ridiculously unhealthy advice like that?! I even said to him, "Are you crazy?!" He then said, "I guess I shouldn't be giving out nutritional advice, heh, heh." I then responded with, "You sure as hell shouldn't!" One more pre op visit before surgery and then he says to me, "Tell me the risks of surgery." And I did. He then said, "Now tell me the risk of surgery being that overweight." I said, "Look Doc, I know how overweight I am, you don't need to say that." Sheez. Fast forward to two days after surgery as I am lying in my hospital bed at Scripps La Jolla, where he is not on staff, but does his procedures there. He comes in at like 6 am and proceeds to trace his hands over my body in some stupid fashion and all I could say was, "What are you doing?" He responds with, "I'm just trying to figure out how you do it." "Do what?" I say. He says, and I shit you not...."YOU'RE LIKE THE SIZE OF TWO PEOPLE, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE A PAPOOSE LYING NEXT TO YOU." And he laughed whilst he said it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said, "You are the most unprofessional doctor and you have fat shamed me for the last time!! Leave the room now and I never want to see you again!!" I only saw his P.A. Eric, for my post op visits. You know, the one that the other negative reviewer, Lisa S. said on here, is not very personable. She's right, he's not, but at least he never fat shamed me! Needless to say, I told several of the nurses, who literally dropped their jaws (pretty much the response I've received from everyone I've told this story to!!) and asked me to tell this to the charge nurse, which of course I did. She gave me the number of the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery and several other hospital administrators to report him to. And you better believe I did as soon as I got home. The Chief called back and apologized profusely to me and said no one deserves to be talked to that way. He said he would be speaking to him regarding this matter. I told him that I just happen to be a confident fat girl. Can you imagine him saying this to one who isn't??! WAIT, IT GETS EVEN MORE CONVOLUTED FROM HERE! Fast forward 6 months later and I now need to get my other knee replaced, which I knew was coming. I knew I wasn't going back to him, that's for sure. After calling several other surgeons and being turned down, some because of my weight, and others because of my insurance, I got a bit desperate, and decided to call back Rudolph's office to see if there might be another surgeon in his office that might do the procedure. Eric, his PA answered the phone. When I told him why I was calling, he said, "Are you sure you don't want Dr. Rudolph to do it? You think the surgery went ok, right?" Yes, I said, but this is what he said to me in the hospital and I really don't want to see him again, bla, bla. Eric said, let me just see if he will even do the surgery on you and put me on hold before I could even say no way. What he came back with next, blew me away. Eric said, "I talked to him and he said, if you will call back the Chief of Surgery and tell him you regret all you said, he will do your surgery." WHAT THE HELL?!?! You want me to lie about my own horrific experience with you and compromise MY ETHICS to do so?!?! The nerve of that bastard!! I should report your ass to the AMA and don't think I still won't! Happy ending to this sad story. The very next day, I found a wonderful doctor who is doing my surgery this coming week. When I asked him why he would do the surgery when others wouldn't, he said, "Recent literature shows that there is no more of a risk doing surgery on overweight patients as there is on thinner ones." He also was blown away when I told him what Dr. Rudolph said and how I was treated. I sure hope someone in his office, or Dr. Rudolph himself reads this. You need to understand how you are undermining people's esteem and confidence with your fat shaming ways. Take some kind of patient compassion classes, because you are far from being a compassionate person, no less a caring doctor!!

Mark is an encouraging person who explains both the big picture, and the specifics of the attack plan to get better. He is also creatively flexible, responding to feedback from patients to craft a more effective workout. Mark flipped my disappointment with having to go back to PT, into a renewed motivation to address my spine, and to incorporate the weak knee and shoulder into continued strength-building and range of motion improvement. Mark's treatment team (the folks who set up the exercises, help patients do the exercises, and help patients maintain success momentum) are Jett, Miguel and Matt. These are the guys who help me get my form right, transition between exercises, and generally help with whatever a patient needs to excel. I have been dealing with a right Achilles issue for a few years and have seen five doctors (3 last…read moresummer) mostly surgeons for it with no real answers or options. I've had X-ray after X-ray, a couple of MRIs, and months in physical therapy and still have weeks at a time where I am hobbled. I had all but given up on finding a doctor who cared in San Diego. I did yet another search across the county for another foot/ankle specialist and found this medical office and Dr. Ian Foran. I looked him up on several sites and he had great reviews so I went into this appointment with a positive attitude and I wasn't disappointed. First, the customer service I received when I made the appointment was excellent. The woman I spoke with was personable and helpful and sympathetic to my issue and tried to get me in as quickly as possible. Without any urging from me, she even put me on their cancellation list. (I did get a call for a cancellation two days later but I was out of town.) Second, I received updates and clear directions for my appointment via email and through the MyChart app. I was able to do my full check-in prior to my appointment including paying my copay. The parking directions were easy to find as was the building and the office suite. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted immediately. The office is modern and clean and comfortable. They have a table shuffle board in the lobby too which was pretty cool. The woman at the desk verified my identity and information and all of the paperwork I completed. I waited for maybe 7 minutes before the doctor's nurse (or assistant I forgot to ask her title) escorted me to a room. The rooms were all glass with sliding glass barn doors and were extremely comfortable and spacious. Dr. Foran's nurse/assistant Christy (Kristy) was a hoot! She and I had a great conversation about Nikes as big sneaker heads. I waited about 7 minutes to see Dr. Foran. Third, I liked Dr. Foran's presence and aura as soon as he walked into the room. He had this approachable and calming demeanour. He made eye contact as asked me about my ankle and the issues and ACTUALLY LISTENED while I explained the duration of the injury and its constant pain and all. He showed me what he saw and his thoughts on the terrible MRI report that was done for my last MRI. He went through the options and I let him know I'd done all of them. While I didn't want to have surgery I couldn't see any other option except possibly an injection if he thought that was a good idea. Four, he said that he agreed that surgery was going to be my best option. He went through the surgical procedure he thinks makes the most sense. The least invasive option which is a thirty minute outpatient surgery. He gave me the best case scenarios and the recovery time and was thorough in his explanation of everything. Five, I was with him for about thirty minutes discussing my injury. When was the last time a doctor spent that much time with a patient? The last one who did performed my major knee surgery. I am so glad I persevered and found a doctor that gives a damn about his patients. I'm not excited for surgery but I am excited for some relief and a return to my active life! Thank you, Dr. Foran and staff for giving a damn and treating your patients like human beings!

Called and left several messages because no one actually ever picks up the phone and never received a single phone call back. I get it, fck the poor people who can't pay for surgery right? Literally the WORST place ever and the worst part is, I'm sure a lot of these patients just have no other choice but to come here.

When I arrived I saw that I had to pay for parking and then when I arrived at Girard Orthopedic's office I saw a sign that they do not validate parking. When I made the appointment, I was not told that I would have to pay for parking. Due to a lack of funds, I was not able to stay for the appointment. So I wasted about 1 1/2 hours drive time, trying to find the building due to bad Google Map directions and then trying to find parking. Then there is also the gas I wasted driving there and back. I have left a message for the practice manager but I will be surprised if they do me the courtesy of calling me back.
