Fortunately, Sunday afternoon, Google said they were less busy than usual, so I decided to head over. I ordered a Maple Macchiato, which was just OK. But the croissant-- oowee! I haven't had one that fresh since I got back from France, lo those many years ago. Not sure who their supplier is, but 2 thumbs up! I had planned on sitting inside at the table by the window, but when the AC kicked on, it was blowing right on me, and got downright chilly. The shadows were hitting the patio perfectly, so I grabbed an outdoor table. Unfortunately, the wind kicked up, making editing a bit of a challenge, but I definitely want to return. The place was quiet and pleasant and I can see getting a lot of work done there in the future.

The place is in the strip mall so there's ample parking in the lot. I can't comment on the food as I got a drink but I noticed a few people had ordered the croissant sandwich which came with chips on the side. I ordered a latte which came just under $8 with the dairy substitution. My latte wasn't bad. I noticed a plain cup of tea seemed pretty pricey at $5-7 depending on which kind you got. The cakes looked like they came from the grocery store (Save ons) to be specific. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. The service was standard. There was one woman who seemed to be doing it all. You make your order at the till and they call you up once it's ready. Although it was nice to try something different, this is not a place that I would go out of my way to visit again.

They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! They're inside the Share Market (along with Magpies Gifts and Potato Corner) at Door 1. Right now Woodrack is the only coffeeshop in the mall since the Starbucks in the food court shutdown. And I think it's great Woodrack is here because they're a nice local coffeeshop. I've come here several times to have a coffee. The lattes are great and as someone who's lactose-intolerant I appreciate the plant-based milk options they have (oat milk is my favourite). They have some breakfast and lunch options, and baked goods. These can change, but if the cinnamon bun is there you can't go wrong with that. They also have a selection of beer and wine (only place to have an alcoholic beverage in the mall). Staff is always friendly.and the owner she's a gem. I will say there's often only one person working, so there may be the occasion when there's a bit of a lineup, but it's never anything major. I always like stopping here for a coffee and look forward to my next caffeine fix from The Woodrack Cafe.

When Awake first opened I thought that a pharmacy and cafe was a weird combination, but they were ahead of their time. Today, a Tuesday, it's quite busy and we got one of the last tables. I could tell that others were here for the same combination as us. Awake has a small menu with just their bubble waffles and pasties but otherwise it's a fine place to stop for a break or to pick up a prescription.
