I spoke with an Agent, agreed on $289 a month for full coverage. I paid the full amount and initial starting policy fees. Later, I received three different letters on the same day. One letter stating I owe $370 a month. WTH, I'm thinking. Then I get another letter stating I owe $69 and some change. The last letter stated my policy was ending April 29th. AAA canceled my policy abruptly. I called the AAA office to inquire. It turns out that because I was involved in two separate accidents in February, I am deemed high-risk. I was not at fault in either accident, and AAA knows that. Then I get a call from another agent at the AAA office stating he can reinstate my insurance for $500.13 a month. I was irate at this point, believing AAA at this office to be corrupt and scammers. I denied them and ended the call peacefully. I signed with another insurance company. That company called AAA to ensure I was no longer insured with them. The AAA Agent stated my policy was canceled on April 14th. That statement contradicts the letter I received. Then the Agent says I still owe $69+ on the policy. How can that be I asked. I didn't cancel the policy, they did. He didn't know why and would get back to me. Reading this, AAA may work for you. All I am saying is beware of my situation so you don't fall into the same trap.

She didn't wait until we were done eating and it was really obvious we had been duped. My friend answered her questions and it became really obvious it was just going to be a commercial for her to put on her blog. One of the questions was, "Who would you rather spend time with, an insurance agent, an artist, or a singer/songwriter?" When he answered, she said, "Well, I'm all of the above." Ugh. In reality, they use it to surcharge you into unaffordable monthly premiums. I clearly did not read the fine print carefully enough when I signed up, but now I'm stuck with a $325 surcharge on top of a $190+ monthly premium--all because of hard braking in Austin traffic. Seriously?! If you've ever driven here, you know slamming on the brakes is practically a survival skill. The nerve of them to penalize me for avoiding accidents! Lesson learned: be very cautious with insurance companies and their so-called "savings programs." Progressive turned out to be just like the rest--quick to take your money and slow to offer real solutions. I'm officially over it. Now, I'm looking for better auto insurance options and ideally a bundle with home insurance. If anyone has recommendations for a company that actually values its customers (and doesn't sneak in ridiculous fees), I'm all ears!
