Traditional full tea

Living in Allentown we had high hopes that Tilly's Mint Tea Room would satisfy our high tea appetite. While we are not aficionados by any stretch we have had the authentic experience in London some years back and several tea rooms stateside. Good news everyone! Service is super friendly and the ambiance is subdued and appealing. The food was delicious. As a starter we had a choice of blueberry soup chilled or an open face ricotta and fire roasted corn sandwich accompanied by fresh mixed greens and apple salad. The savory tier features various finger sandwiches of tuna, cream cheese and cucumber. The scones were delightful especially with homemade lemon curd. The top tier included Princess Diana crème brûlée, peanut butter mousse, macaroons and shark week themed mini cupcakes.

this place is sooo cute! the staff was super kind and personable. the tea was delicious, and they had quite a large list of teas to choose from. the food was great and presented really prettily. i came for a birthday celebration, and i was given a cute special plate and napkin. they were also really accommodating for dietary restrictions!

Figgy Pudding Green tea in festive holiday tea cup.

I know I've said this before but this is my new favorite tea room! I have been trying to visit this tea room for quite some time. The challenge is that it books up fast so you definitely need a reservation. Expect to reserve about two weeks prior to your visit. The tea room is small but was festively decorated for the Christmas season including holiday serving plates and cups. I loved everything about my tea experience...from the personalized note at my table to the tasty bites served with my tea. Since it was the holiday season, I chose to have one of the special holiday teas...Figgy Pudding Green tea. The name really does not do the tea justice. It was similar to an Earl Grey in flavor and went really well with the full tea sampler. In addition to the tea specials, Tilly Mint has a huge tea list. Something for every type of tea drinker...including children. I chose to do the full tea which included your choice of soup or quiche and the tiered tea sandwich sampler. This was $25 and did include a pot of tea. I ended up having a second pot of tea which did not cost me extra :). You can see the attention to detail when you view the tiered sampler...from the lady bug tea sandwich, to the mini tea cup condiment holders, to the mousse ice cream cone dessert...all is designed to be visually appealing to the customer and fun. The service was prompt with friendly, courteous servers. I would recommend this tea room to anyone who loves a proper British tea. (Side note: Thank you Tilly Mint for not leaving the tea leaves in the pot of tea. Leaving the leaves makes for a bitter cup of tea. Others should follow you fine example!)

Best tea room I have been to! Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is open with cute decor. Food quality is excellent- everything was delicious. They have so many teas to choose from it's so hard to pick! I recommend making reservations a month or more in advance because they fill up quick. After tea make sure to check out the local shops within walking distance on Main Street.

My family and I have been here a few times and it never disappoints. It's classic high tea and the flavor choices of tea are immense.

Had an excellent time here with twin grand littles. They were delighted with their "kids" high tea that was chockablock full of inventive delicious food. Staff was friendly and warm. Everything you could want in a tea room. Grown up food was excellent-- a vegetable quiche with a potato crust and salad plus the standard tea fare of scones, sandwiches, sweets and cream. Tea selection amazing. A great experience!

If you want to go to a very nice and very tasty British Tea House; then this is your place. We enjoyed a early Mother's Day tea with the family. The kids had their own little cups with pink lemonade which they loved! We tried 4 different teas: the almond tea, the cream brûlée tea, the Queen Elisabeth tea, and the Royal Wedding tea. The Scones are so sweet and fresh, We bought some to take home. Everything was delicious! The wait staff was very friendly. The only thing is since the place is small I would recommend a reservation. I would love to go back again. The teapots are so cute. The decor is perfect for a Britain themed tea house. I would give it more stars then 5. This is an experience you will not forget. Great for a birthday or special occasion!

What a unique and fun experience! I had no idea what to expect when going here nor did I have any clue that tea rooms are a thing. Note to self: tea rooms are totally a thing. When I first walked in the door all I could do was look around the room and think how adorable and quaint it was... I felt like I had just walked into a place in England. It was super cozy and made you feel right at home. The staff was wonderful and friendly through our whole visit. We had a nice table right by the window and there were 6 of us total - 5 adults and one toddler. I mentioned to our server that I had never been to anything like this before and she was happy to explain how it all worked. Oh man and then I had to select a tea?? They had no less than like 80 billion teas and they all sounded amazing! How are you supposed to pick?? I ended up getting the black currant which was very good. Everyone else in the party enjoyed their teas, even the baby! I ended up getting the Liverpool which was the soup, salad, and savory (which was a quiche today). The baby had the kid's meal which uhhhh looked amazing, I wanted her sundae! Everyone else got the full tea. Trying to be good with my diet so that's why I stayed away from the sammiches and sweets. Ok back to my Liverpool. The soup was cream of mushroom and it was freaking delicious! It was perfect to warm me up on this suddenly cold day! The salad was fresh and dressed nicely with accents of fruit throughout. I forget what the quiche was exactly but it was a great complement to the soup and salad. I'm glad I went with the smaller meal because I was stuffed with just that! Everyone else also enjoyed their soups/salads/quiches and then the main course came out and it was so beautiful! Everything sounded delicious and trust me, I was kicking myself for not gorging and getting one as well. But I did steal a little piece of one of the chicken salad sammiches and that was super yummy. Everyone else was extremely stuffed and didn't finish the goodies so I guess I was the smart one going light :) The bathroom, or loo rather, was adorable as well and so was the shop! We had fun checking out all the various teapots for sale. It was a lovely day with family and friends trying something new for me. We were celebrating some birthdays, so they gave them some tea to take home as a gift... that was very nice! Such a nice time!

Dessert

What an excellent experience at this old fashioned English tea room! So many delicious options of teas, with a scrumptious lunch array and a decadent dessert platter.

The Wavertree - Our Full Tea I forgot to take a picture of the salad and soup before this came out

Came back again for our anniversary, delicious as usual but for some reason felt really cramped. We were right next to a table of 3 and we could hear everything they were saying. Again, wouldn't deter us from coming back again. Jenny was our server both times, she is very friendly and knowledgeable.

A smooth & delicious butternut squash soup. Cranberry salad & quiche.

Love this spot! Cute setting, tasty treats and charming hostess. We usually get the "full tea" which is delightful and quite substantial.

There was Irish and Celtic music playing in the background the servers Linsey and. Madison were attentive and extremely personable. My friend and I picked out our two teas to share. Both were delicious. We had pistachio and Irish bread scones. We had a mouthwatering potato and cabbage soup. Our third course was a variety of delicious tea sandwiches, one of which was a corned beef cabbage sandwich. The corned beef was soaked in a tea. There was an egg salad sandwich, cucumber, and herbs, pretzel, and cheese. We learned this from the owner Patty, who is extremely passionate and committed to serving delicious food that complements the tease and the theme. Our desserts were a pistachio Bundt cake with a cream in the middle, a chocolate shamrock cookie and some kind of a mini yummy other dessert. I've been to this tea house many times and it never disappoints. Highly recommend five stars. Renee Atkins.

Management and ownership have never attended a tea service or researched how to host one Each table is limited to two selections and two pots of tea. Don't agree? Oh well. Refills? Extra charge. But wait you actually receive three pots of tea because upon seating a pot of the "seasonal" herbal tea is served whether you like it or not.m Additionally serving milk with black tea selections is apparently not standard practice here and needs to be specifically requested. The Earl Grey tea is excellent First course: salad. Hopefully no one in your party has severe nut allergies because before even taking tea selections a plate of spring mix buried under a pile of walnuts is dropped in front of you. Those in our party able to eat the salad did not enjoy it Second course: savouries. Finger sandwiches were fresh. Chicken salad was excellent. Egg salad on croissant was good I personally disagree with quiche being served as it's non-traditional but it is accepted in many circles and the quiche was also good However I have absolutely no doubt that the chicken salad and egg salad were scooped out of premade tubs from Sysco or Restaurant Depot judging by the sweets Scones: underbaked. Disappointing given reviews raving about them. Maybe we received a bad batch maybe the local population has never had a decent scone. Will not be returning to find out Presumably since the savoury scone (an abomination in my opinion) was served in the same course as a sweet scone the only butter served was a savoury herb butter. As a result there was no butter available for the "butterscotch" scone and there would not have been enough anyway considering we received about a tablespoon of butter and two tablespoons of both other toppings between five people The "clotted cream" has been addressed as it was the most offensive part of enduring this experience. Rather than a traditional jam or marmalade none of which we were served we were given a "mango compote." How someone decided mango and butterscotch are complementary I have no idea. Anyone in this industry would recognize Reàl purée squeezed out of a plastic bottle Sweets: thaw and serve La Boulangerie des Gourmets frozen macarons (which include a pistachio flavor and are packaged in one tray so again watch for nut allergies if you think you're safe eating a lemon macaron as this obviously isn't disclosed). I see these are being sold separately outside of the tea service 6/$14. They are 57¢ ea Chocolate mousse mix piped into a plastic cup with a processed whipped topping. The most edible dessert Menu lists lemon cheesecake server identified small tarts as key lime pie. Not sure which we received but can note the filling at least (probably not the tart shell) is made in house because we received more than one batch with one having not even a hint of citrus Saving the worst for last the "strawberry" cupcake. First and foremost cupcakes chocolate mousse and macarons (and most egregious cannolis listed on the children's menu) are not standard sweets served with afternoon tea. But this cupcake? The cupcakes we were served here were the driest cake I have ever seen in my life completely inedible. The frosting was some sort of processed palm oil goo and neither cake nor frosting had any strawberry flavor Atmosphere and service: service was friendly albeit casual slow and not attentive. Server was not very knowledgeable. Not her fault Space was fine if gaudy. Table was crowded. I share another reviewer's sentiment but the table cloth was about a foot longer than the table was high which made sitting movement or pushing a chair in difficult. It felt like wearing a heavy blanket that was pulled taut the entire experience Paper napkins and plastic dishes. At over $40 per person you would expect more As a side note standard afternoon tea practice is being offered or asking for additional items the guests like. However the menu had prices listed for additional sides of all items served on the tea service. Given the quality vs cost this felt particularly gauche It's hard to comprehend why the owners or management here can't get the tea service right. The hardest part is finger sandwiches and freshness which they seem to have managed. Good quality premade desserts are available and scones are not difficult to make. It honestly seems like a lack of effort on their part or a lack of respect for their customers which is frustrating All in all a very expensive abysmal experience. I'm sure there are decent afternoon teas available in this area at a similar price. Fortnum and Mason and the Covent Garden Hotel in London both known for afternoon teas charge £45 per person Two stars for the chicken salad server and Earl Grey
