    Damage from power tool #2

My tile is ruined. There are numerous damaged tiles where the power tool he used to remove the grout damaged the tile. There's also grout haze on my paint. The tile he used as a replacement is ivory, not white, so it sticks out. The grout itself has numerous gaps and inconsistencies. This is a disaster. I'm going to have to retile the entire floor.

Eric is a true craftsman. He even innovated his own tools in order to get the best results on vintage tile without damaging them. I'm so glad I found him here on Yelp because I really wanted to refurbish my 1955 bath but wasn't sure it was doable. Eric was professional and personable. I highly recommend him! Thank you Eric!

I'm thrilled, my tenants are thrilled, so very pleased that we found Eric. He is AMAZING! I'm looking forward to keeping him busy whenever possible. We found him because Ninja Plumbing DESTROYED 2 vintage 1930's tiled bathrooms by ripping through the original tiled walls when they were instructed to go through the plaster backsides to access plumbing for repair. NOPE. For good measure they destroyed restored valves and porcelain knobs and tore additional holes in the walls to install complete POS valves. Note: run don't walk from Ninja Plumbing. Eric was horrified when he saw what they had done and he has worked with us to figure out how to get the tiles matched - shout out to John Lenaburg for this work - and will be restoring the damage with the tile once it's done. In the meantime I hired him to clean up and repair the kitchen tiles that were broken. Amazing work, super happy. Can't wait to repair everything back with Eric's help.

Eric, knocked it out of the park. See photos of his workmanship. He stays quite busy but scheduled me for the following Friday. He called me and came 2 hours early & did his magic. He certainly is a expert. Thanks Yelp for helping me find someone like him. Very few people do repairs as proficently as he.

Fantastic service. Highly recommend. Very thorough. Good attitude and works hard.. I will use him again.

8x48 inches tiles. He laid them evenly while securing the tiles next to them.

Eric is the best and very efficient. A+++++. My contractor installed my tiles crooked. He fixed 21 tiles but left the wedges, tinset and all of the mess for me to clean with another 2 loose tiles. I called Eric, he came out and repaired the two loose tiles... then helped me free of charge to grout and remove all the mess the old contractor left behind. A day later, I found two additional loose tiles next to where my old contractor replaced my tiles... Eric came out and repaired it. Eric is amazing, he has a method to secure tiles next to the replaced ones so they do not become loose. He replaced 2 tiles my contractor put in incorrectly and secure the 5-6 tiles next to them. He is the tile master. I'm so grateful to have him help me.

She had good…read moresense of color and seemed very knowledgable, that l was until I found out the subway tile that I bought would not work with the shower pan as designed. I found this out when my contractor saw the subway tile and pointed out why (long explanation, but the water wouldn't drain). At no point during 4 appointments/visits my wife and I made, with hours spent picking out tile, were we ever asked about the type of drain or slope the shower would have, and this ultimately is what ruined everything. I called to tell Anna Marie about the issue, to which she said, she did tell us about this problem, but that we insisted on this tile. This is a lie or misremembered exchange. She then also inferred that my contractor must not be good enough to install it, again dodging accountability. I asked if we could get a store credit or do anything, to which Anna Marie said no refunds and then again said my wife and I made the mistake, not her. Now I am left with a bunch of useless tile, money wasted (which I cannot afford), and a remodel on hold. In the end, Anna Marie is nice and she understands how to put color together, but she cleary has no knowledge of what tile should go where, or at the very least neglected to mention it. Mistakes happen, but both Anna Marie and Westside Tile should at least take some accountability. Now I understand why Floor and Decor right up the street is a much better option.

If you are looking for a simple repair or a straightforward project, Eshed may be a great option…read more However, if you are looking for very utmost craft, precision (ie. 1/8" grout lines), working with curved tile shapes and expect a professional partnership throughout where there is no harassment and unsolicited comments beyond the scope of the agreed upon project, then this is not the small business for you. I, too, found Eshed via his five star reviews but was completely disappointed with the way the project unfolded. The initial project quote was 15 business days. Though I had to unexpectedly travel for work and attend jury duty, I ended up being without a kitchen for 2 months. Expectations were not met. Partway through the tile project, my closet broke and a closet expert came to assess my storage needs while Eshed was at the property working on the kitchen backsplash. While showing the closet designer my dresser drawer, it tipped over due to all the drawers being opened. We called Eshed in to help us rotate the dresser back upright and I thanked him for his help. I carried on with my closet consultation. At the end of the work day, while Eshed and I were discussing progress, Eshed made a comment about seeing all of the underwear in my dresser drawers and breezed past it as if it was part of standard conversation practice. In addition to this, while wrapping up on a Friday, he has sent me photos of where he's headed for the weekend and at one point even verbally suggested that I go with him to climb rocks on the beach. These instances, though not tied to the project, demonstrate a lack of professional standard that I expect from the highest quote that came in during my research for a quality tile installation. When all the tile was installed, right when the first wall's grout was applied in the kitchen, I was shocked to realize that the spacing that we were aiming for (1/8") was not at 1/4" or greater in some areas. I asked him if he used spacers to control the spacing and he said no. I asked him why he didn't use spacers and his response was aloof, telling me it was inefficient. This is not the bar of craft of excellence once expected from a project where the tiles cost more than the labour and the labour was already the highest bid across 5 businesses. Upon project completion, the matte black door knob on my front door looked like a blender had been taken to it because of all the broken tiles he was managing while going in/out of the property to cut tile pieces. I pointed this out and he did not make any suggestions to make this right or compromise. Lastly, he had an unprofessional meltdown in front of my electrician, a fellow tradesperson after passively suggesting that the electrical outlets need attention and that I should bring the electrician back (for the 3rd time). He raised his voice, got overly dramatic and read the text message he wrote me in front of the electrician to prove a point that only worsened his credibility. On the final day of completion, instead of calling me out of my office to confirm that the project was complete, he texted me while leaving the property and told me to send a check. No final walk through of the work was discussed. It is likely Eshed will respond publicly with a rebuttal, but I hope these examples as a whole give you the context you need when considering your next tile needs.
