Excellent experience having Julio work on re-caulking our shower and bathtub. We DIYed previously and found that they always started getting mildewy and moldy shortly after, and soon after each cleaning. Julio patiently explained to us why that kept happening and what could do going forward to minimize the water effects. He knew which type of caulk to use for each space and the results were very nice. We followed his advice and the caulking had lasted longer already.

    Before

I found Julio when I was looking to restore the grout and silicone in our vintage tiled bathroom. He came by the same week to take a look at the tile and give me an accurate quote. His quote was fair, and he explained exactly what work it would cover. When he came to do the work, he showed up on time with one other worker and fixed all of the grout and silicone issues in my bathroom with great attention to detail. He repaired missing floor and shower grout and replaced silicone everywhere, including around the pedestal sink and bathtub. He did a great job color matching and the new grout looks seamless with the old grout. He was also very easy to schedule with and professional. I only wish I called him sooner!

Another example of overlapping colors. On the wall-floor joint you can see where the grey was put on top of the white.

Having grouted my bathrooms and floors myself, caulked baseboards and joints, and sealed and caulked joints all over my home, I have a fair idea of the labor and skill necessary to do the job. Also, I have an accurate appreciation for when a job is hard, or when it is challenging and requires more labor hours. Julio is a nice man and very cordial and willing to help. Unfortunately, my wife was managing the very small project of getting her shower grout cleaned and resealed as I was building a fence on my side yard. Although I respect all tradespeople, I was just a little disappointed this time with Julio and I think we both agree to disagree on this one. He did express that this job was a little far for him, and I think that that is where the problem resides. I communicated to Julio that I would repair the work he did myself, and he seemed fine with that and offered a little advice. JOB DETAILS: 1) I supplied the materials (Mapei Keracaulk U shades "Frost" and "Avalanche") at my own cost. So, those costs were not included in the $250 for 30 -60 minutes of labor. Commonly purchased at Floor and Decor, they are not specialized industry B2B colors. 2) No unsanded or sanded grout needed to be removed. So no labor needed for removal in this case. Therefore, very easy in terms of physical labor. 3) As pictured, we have long, straight grout lines which require less time to clean or caulk. You can do them in one long squeeze of the bottle with a caulking gun. Only a caulking gun is needed and following the line of the tile joints. Similar to doing baseboards. Most bathrooms are far more difficult to grout than this, as they have shorter grout lines and more square patterns to be careful with. For example, rectangular 4"x2" tile on a shower wall takes a lot more patience and time since there are tons of joints (lines) between all the hundred or so tile pieces. 4) The two colors in the photo were provided. Disappointingly, the wrong one was used. The contractor claimed my wife gave him the wrong one, but that is not accurate. Both were placed in the bathroom shower and shown to the contractor. My wife didn't know where the material was or what material was necessary. So, I was the one who provided it when asked by the contractor. It was also very easy to see that when the previous silicon was removed, it was a completely different color. Tile professionals would usually stop at that point and double check the color rather than do the entire job without matching the existing color. You can see that detail in one of the photos as the grey sealant was put on top of the white one where the wall meets the shower floor. 5) The job was charged at $250, which usually is understandable for a half day to full day of work. Having done work like this, I understsnd the need to charge half days or full days for labor even though you may not need that much time. However, this work was done within 30-45 min. and done somewhat carelessly. I know, because when I came in from building a new fence, I was surprised that the contractor had left already. Shocked actually...especially when my wife told me the full charge of $250. I have paid people $300 a day to tile, which is immensely more challenging. So, I was just disappointed in how carelessly the work was done. 6) You can see that the lines were not cleaned with a spunge after application...again, very standard for anyone who has sealed or grouted any type of joint in a house. Again, very rushed and careless, and ultimately unfair to us at the labor rate charged. For many people, $250-$300 a day is the cost of their own full day of labor. So, we have to save up to have work done in our homes and this should be respected, in my view. Overall, my goal here is not to slam the contractor. I think the business is generally solid, and it is very hard to find people that will just do grout only. Usually, tile tradesmen will grout after tiling, but do not want to come do regrouting. It is usually a job for a handyman or homeowner. My goal is to express my experience here and voice that I think the job should have been redone, or done more carefully, in order to respect both parties. People put immense care and time into their homes, so it is always a matter of trust, respect, and integrity when we work together with contractors in our homes. I wish Julio the best, and recommend him to any people who need regrouting, however, I think our contracts will end with this one. I think he probably does a nice job with mixed grouts. I believe our job was too small for his expertise.

Having Grout Work LA come out was a really wonderful and pleasant experience. Fixing and having to take care of home issues is always kind of a stressful task for me, but Julio was nice, really helpful and caring, prompt, and did a wonderful job. You can see how great his work is from the photos. He helped salvage our shower after 9 years of neglect. I tried recaulking it myself that many years ago and probably did such a horrible job where it was more probe to mold. He also gave us a lot of tips to extend the lifetime of the grout and sealer. Definitely appreciate people who go out of their way to be helpful.

I can't thank Julio enough for his fast reply the first time I reached out and amazing, professional service! He came in and gave us estimates and did such a great job on one of our showers that we had him back again months later to do another shower and the kitchen sink! As you can see in the photos, our grout and the caulking someone else had done were terrible. Riddled with set in mold that no amount of bleach could remove. It was time to start from scratch. Julio scraped out every last bit and the showers look brand new! We also sealed all of the travertine tile and he gave us lots of tips to avoid mold and moisture damage in the future. It's so nice to find reputable, dependable, professional experts in their field who you can rely on to solve problems! If we are unlucky enough to have another rental with the same problems, I wouldn't hesitate to call him again and would recommend him highly to anyone!

Julio is such a professional. Easy to communicate with, very reliable, and strives for excellence. Our shower walls and floor were moldy and dirty. I wanted to replace the shower floor grout from white (which easily shows dirt and grime) to light gray and he did just that. He also cleaned the shower walls, regrouted some areas, sealed and cleaned everything up. Looks brand new. Will recommend him to anyone who needs grout work.

Did very good work. Cleaned out our gross tiles and left them nice and clean. I was thinking of doing a big remodel but now I'm so glad I went this route.

The tile in one bathroom was discolored, and he said it could be cleaned and sealed, and we needed tile flooring in our other bathroom replaced. Randy was friendly and approachable, and I planned to see how the smaller project went before hiring him for the larger project we needed tackled. Unfortunately, the experience was awful. A subcontractor/employee showed up on the agreed date to clean and seal the tile, and spent a couple of hours what sounded like physically scraping the tile - not what I expected. His coworker showed up a couple hours later, and told me that this plan was not going to work - that even if they could get the tile clean and seal it, the staining would come right back. He told me to have them leave, because Randy would still charge me for them being there. I went in the bathroom after they left, and it literally looked no different except there was dust everywhere - they did not clean up. I waited for a follow-up call or email from Randy - nothing. I was mad, but decided to put it behind me. A week later, I received a bill. I wrote a very frank email to Randy explaining my disappointment with the workers sent, the fact that no work was even done, and my confusion that he didn't even bother contacting me afterward. He apologized profusely and said he would follow up with me the next day. He did not follow up with me about the work, ever. But I have still been getting bills from this company!! I have emailed him multiple times, and he's told me to ignore them, but that is not an acceptable response - every time I see one of these emails, I am newly angry about the time I wasted on this endeavor. I gave him plenty of time and opportunity to make this right, and he did not even bother to try. I am writing this review because once again, I have gotten an invoice for this "work". Would not recommend.

I bought a townhome in 2022 and the previous owners were super dirty and the shower was no exception. We did our best to clean it when we moved in and eventually accepted the dirty floors and grout. The shower was badly caulked and mold got under the silicone in every corner and I hated looking at it. Tried to scrape off the old caulk myself but it took way too long and I realized the grout underneath was crumbling. Called Dan, he answered immediately and sent me an estimate. Dan is super friendly and gave me a lot of details on the work he would do on the shower. I had reached out to another company about it but honestly they were super curt and I didn't get the warm fuzzies from them, unlike when we spoke to Dan. But WOW - the attention to detail. Dan cleaned and scrubbed every inch of the shower, including the glass. And he got some very tricky stains off of the shower knob and the floor. He added new grout wherever it was needed - in the exact color match too. He also added sealant all over and a special caulk with sand in it that will flex as the house expands and contracts to prevent the grout from cracking. I just used my shower after the 32 hour dry period and it was absolutely amazing. It felt clean and new and because of the sealant Dan applied, all the water beaded up nicely and I can tell it will make the shower super easy to clean. Absolutely stoked, I've had a lot of contractors in and out to fix the place up in the past 2 years but this is one job that I'm probably the most excited for. And the price was very reasonable!! Thank you SO much Dan!!!

No words needed, just take a look at the pictures. In addition to that, I have not been provided with a written estimate. We agreed on $540 for tile cleaning, repairs, recaulking for a shower + $125 for bathtub recaulking. When he started the work he suggested to redo grouting for the whole shower: I'll do it for one fifty" he said. I repeated to make sure "one fifty"? Yes. So I assumed he'll charge me an additional $150 for regrouting. It turned out he meant $1500. This business should not be on a market at all. I was not provided with any receipt as well. Update. The answer from Peter is just a joke. The pictures he provided as "before" are actually pictures "after" so nothing changed accept for the neat unsanded grout that I had was removed and replaced with rough sanded grout, the excess of which was not removed properly, so my whole shower has a rough surface now. He mentioned that they could also refinish the engineered hardwood floors, which had started to look pretty worn from the last tenants. He explained exactly what they would do to clean up the finishes, which products they would use to refinish and seal them, and how long each endeavor would take. The next day, Peter and his crew were out in force, they did what they said they would and everything looked spectacular. Peter even came out the next day to make final touches on the shower.
