Disappointing. While very good at the actual work, and it's hard to fault them for that, they are extremely non-communicative, and not really interested in going "above and beyond." I ran into a number of issues, including spending more than $500 on tile that I was later told wasn't usable with the installation they were doing, and price increases at the last minute. I'm not *NOT* recommending them -- as a tile subcontractor they'd likely be find, particularly working with a general contractor. As a vendor to manage directly by a homeowner? Not so much. But ... I had the same issue as another reviewer -- I received an in-person estimate and asked for a written contract but no contract was ever sent. I called three times for the estimate, and each time was assured it was on its way. At this point, I can only imagine I dodged a bullet. Who does that? Working with a new contractor without a written estimate is never going to happen. Anyway, the owner seemed very personable, knew his business and the project plan and cost estimate were great. We called R&B to install grab bars in our shower, and repair broken tiles and grout. Rory and team arrived on time and completed the job exactly as promised. Out 28 year old tile looks like new and the grab bars are secure. A couple of days later some of the caulk started to sink. They thought of two different approaches (regrouting vs. recoloring) and after testing and discussions with us, we decided on trying the regrouting technique. Robert did a fantastic job! We were experiencing mold and grout deterioration in a large master bathroom. I was so fortunate to find the R & B tile professionals. Robert communicated with me throughout the project with responsive texts and phone calls. Sergio was the type of worker who never looked up for hours at a time. I don't often give a rave Yelp review, but I was so impressed with R & B Tile that I really felt moved to recommend them. The Saltillo tiles in the front of my house were all cracked and I thought it would be a relatively easy job of replacing, but they showed me that all the supporting framework was rotted and required a bit of excavation, then there was the issue of matching the color of the new tiles with the old ones which hadn't cracked. Anyway, Robert, the company rep, did a great job making sure that I understood what was required each day and the tiler, Sergio, was amazing. He was so pleasant working in the heat (He would say "I love my job"- and it showed!). At the end, Sergio spent a great deal of time to make sure each of the new tiles matched the older ones perfectly! He was an artist! Robert and Sergio were very pleasant and very professional! This is a review for a first time customer of R&B Tile. My project was cleaning tile, replacing grout and sealing in 3 bathrooms. The quality of the work was exceptional! I am really happy with how the project turned out. Unfortunately, I experienced issues with punctuality and not showing up on time. At one point, I was told an appointment could not be rescheduled due to their no call no show. I was told I had to pay full price for the project before it was completed. Sergio restored and re-grouted our 100 year old fireplace Batchelder tile and I was amazed with the results. He spent two days on his knees painstakingly cleaning and grouting with a paintbrush. Robert appears to be carrying on the family tradition with RnB. He brings unsurpassed professionalism, quality of work and overall friendly manner, the kind of which is rare in Glendale. The bathroom tile, especially shower, was a disgraceful mess after useless "handymen" had had their way with it over the years. After RnB, it's like new. No more mold, inch-thick hard water deposits or gross grout. I hope to get them back for more fixes and upgrades to the kitchen. read more

The tile in my 30 year old bathroom shower stall needed cleaning and repair. A friend had the same problem and recommended R & B after they beautifully restored his shower tile. I called them and Robert came over and told me how they could clean and repair where needed. I was impressed that he did not try to make the job bigger than it needed to be. The original tile size is no longer made, so each tile had to be cut to fit. Matching quarter round tile was added to seal where the tub and tile meet. The completed job made the tub/shower better than new. Very pleased with the result. read more

After getting 3 estimates and researching their projects online, I hired R&B for one main reason: they do QUALITY WORK. They are very professional in every aspect of their business, including the timely process of demolition, hauling away the old tile, and installing the new tile. They cleaned up every night. A representative from the company, including Rorey & Bill, stopped by every day to check on the progress. Moreover, they accommodated my tight schedule and worked Saturday to finish the job within one week. The inclusion of the removal and reconnection of the appliances was also a deciding factor. The pricing was about the same in comparison with the other contractors. I couldn't have been any happier with my new kitchen, bathroom and Service area. if I could, I would post pictures of the before and after job. overpriced and underdelivered. If I wanted someone to clean my tile, I could have my housekeeper complete it. We requested to regrout the tiles which mean removed the old dirty grout and put in new grout. We had to stay on top of them and constantly give updates on what had not been completed. As we move around the house, we see tiles that is black and not enough grout was used in some areas. I would never use them again and definitely would never recommend. read more

I don't know what these other guy's problems were, but our experience with them was great. Their floor tile quote was complete and all-inclusive, no surprises (not like big-box stores). The installers did fine work and were very nice. They did a complete cleanup at the end. Rorey is a stand-up guy. After this experience, we felt compelled to write this review. So we are looking to do more business with them soon. It is a shame that happy customers don't post reviews as often as disgruntled ones do. read more

Unhappy with the Customer Service this outfit provides. My senior citizen uncle hired them unbeknown to me, as I manage his properties. Whats done is done I thought. Roreys price was higher than I could've had the job done for by at least $500 . His worker of over 20 years , Sergio, was the only representative I ever met on the job. Sergio did great tile work but also hustled my senior uncle in to small odds and end jobs around the apartment. I specifically asked Sergio not to do any of the work and to discuss those issues with me. Apparently when I wasn't around he did the jobs anyway and charged my uncle who already has memory issues as it is. Sergio even damaged one of my newly painted walls by moving furniture around that he should have never touched. Of course I called Rorey to let him know his employee was doing sidejobs on company time and slowing down the actual job he was there to do, which was originally supposed to be 2 days. Rorey was apologetic and told me he reprimanded Sergio. But after 20 years of employing Sergio, theres no way Rorey is not aware of Sergios mode of operation. The high priced tile job did not include sealer either so when I got the feeling Rorey was only being apolegetic to save face, I asked if he could send his guy back to apply sealer to make up for the extra money I spent on this job and the damage caused by his employee, he laughed. He told me that it would cost him $150 to send a worker back and it wasn't worth it to him to do so. Instead told me I could by a 10 dollar bottle of sealer at home depot and do it myself. Yes Rorey, I know sealer is not expensive but I thought since you're employee mishandled this job, you could make up for it. A whole $160 to make it right. Guess not read more

I called with a mystery leak in the shower-only stall. Rorey equipped me with some methods to try and isolate the leak on my own. He was patient and helpful. After the testing the pan for leak (no leak witnessed), I tested the shower walls and immediately the leak was witnessed. Knowing how helpful Rorey was, I have called him for a quote to completely remodel/fix our shower stall as well as a full bathroom remodel. So far, I'm quite pleased and excited to get a quote. Companies that share information to better educate their customers is a company worth engaging and recommending. read more

Two quite odd men. First, I noticed that they behaved a bit odd but thought I 'd give them a chance. Maybe their being a little odd might mean that they were honest because they were both different, especially the older man. I kept in mind that it could possibly mean the opposite. The latter turned out to be true because the following work was done and involved damage.........."A somewhat similar story to Lee R"......The project began at a certain price and as we went deeper into the wall there was more damage that had to be corrected. At the end of the tile project, in 2 showers, damage was noted on the bathtub floor after glazing had been done to restore it and a wall in a shower was not treated with anti-fungel solution before it was closed. Both men denied it was there fault. I had to have the wall re-opened and sprayed as well as re-doing the reglazing in the tub floor. He was very sarcastic and nasty about the situation and would not cooperate with forwarding monies to cover the cost for the damage, but seemed to have no difficulty in kicking up the price of the work he was doing that came close to $3000. It took months after reporting him to receive anything for this damage. He was nasty and insulting..... read more

I'm really torn about this rating. R & B did beautiful work on our kitchen/dining room floor. At the last minute we decided to include the closet in the dining room. It is a 5 x 10 closet and required only one more box of tile. When my husband spoke to the owner's father, he indicated it would be priced proportionately to the rest of the job. We said that would be okay as that would make it about $400. Imagine our surprise when all was said and done and the additional bill was for an additional $1250! The entire floor kitchen/dining room floor without the closet was $3250! Rory said he emailed us a revised invoice and it showed the additional amount. Unfortunately, since it was the same amount as one of our deposits, I misinterpreted it, and I take full responsibility for that. However, I own my own business and if a client's job was going to increase by 38%, you'd better believe I would have a conversation with that person, not just send a revised invoice. As a result, we did not use them for the backsplash tile or the fireplace we are redoing. Again, good work, sketchy business practices. It 's really sad as they came highly recommended by someone in my neighborhood. read more
