Where there was a wall leading to nowhere, now there is a solid, beautiful, secure staircase leading to the most bright, sleek looking basement with a three-piece spa-like bathroom. I was a little nervous because I unexpectedly could not be there to give my opinion every day. Boy, did he not need it! Gerry is a genius and more importantly a VISIONARY. There are so many personal touches that on the day I walked into the finished basement I just about cried. Let me begin with the list: He created a finished basement from scratch. He added an egress that is so ample and easy for anyone to climb out of. He added a splitter that has moisture control, air conditioning and heat. He added doors to our water heating unit, just because he thought they would look better enclosed (boy was he right about that). He CREATED a bathroom from scratch. It includes beautiful tile work that he installed; a three-piece bathroom set, an exhaust fan, a special bonus of blue and orange colored lighting (just because he heard that I am a diehard Mets fan) and blue tooth for music! Who does that??? He does. This kind, courteous, good natured man, that my husband enjoyed talking to every day, that's who, Gerry Salzman. As to pricing, I had three estimates. His estimate was the most reasonable. Look no further, trust no one else because his word IS his word. Whatever he says, he means. There were no unexpected "add-ons". The estimate was the final, except anything I wanted in addition to the original contract. We have had multiple projects, from bathroom remodels to kitchens, dormers, etc. My husband and I consider ourselves veterans to the consumer side to home remodeling. In our 30 plus years, we have never dealt with someone this professional and courteous. Throughout the entire process, he was communicative, respectful, and happy to answer questions and explain anything. And I ask lots of questions. Something notable which set him apart from others I've used in the past, outside of the exceptional quality of the work, is the cleanliness and respect to my home. He spent about a half hour each day just cleaning up the surrounding areas and footpaths ensuring they were just as they were when he arrived. It's a small detail but has a tremendous impact and really demonstrates the care put into the job. As mentioned, the tile work was incredible and came out better than I expected. Mike is the first "handyman" I've used on Long Island and so long as he keeps accepting my business…read morehe's likely be the only one I use! He is GREAT, not only at what he does but just being an overall nice guy in general. We just finished a home renovation project and were in the process of putting our house back together (furniture, picture hanging, ect). I contacted Mike about putting some chairs and dressers together as well as hanging several mirrors and pieces of art around the house (one of which was a huge portrait for over the fire place). We fully expected the job to take between six to eight hours but asked him to come for three hours first because we weren't ready to spend that much money after our renovation. To our great delight, at the three hour mark he finished all but one of the items on our list. We went ahead and paid for another hour and got everything we needed put together and hung in four hours (half the time and price of what we were expecting). The real gold star for him though, is him giving my friend his screw gun while she was putting my drapes up. He could have easily stood their laughing at her trying to screw it in and offer to do it himself (at a cost) when she ultimately failed. Instead he offered up his own tools so that she was able to complete the job. He's a real stand up guy and I'm happy to have done business with him! Highly recommend!

We were n the market for new flooring. Starting with replacing our living room carpet…read more We shopped around to a few local flooring stores but weren't pleased with the selections, prices and most important, the sales people. When we walked into this store we met Joe who was very accommodating. He showed us some options but we noticed a remnant that was large enough to fit our living room. My wife fell in love with it and the deal was done. Mark came to measure and set the installation. Next we asked about hardwood flooring for upstairs. Time for a complete redo of the house. Mark took measurements and we began searching for more flooring. Again they were very easy to work with. No pressure at all, and several options to lower the cost. Well this morning was the install for the carpet. Two very nice and respectful young men show up and worked like a well oiled machine. Two hours later the furniture was moved, old carpet was out, and the new carpet was installed, and they replaced all the furniture. Next the looked at the pending job of the upstairs flooring. Again some good suggestions and what we thought would be a nightmare of a job, they assured us it would be another smooth install. I highly suggest this flooring store, and I'm sure when the new floors upstairs are in I'll be writing a second excellent review. Thanks Mark, Joe, and their professional installation crew.

Later that week he brought his team and they completed the daunting task in ONE day! They removed the badly damaged walls and ceiling, power washed the floors, vacuumed and disinfected all surfaces (even behind the walls) and removed all of the debris. When it was time to pick our flooring, my husband and I went looking for a floor in our given price range. We went to Home Depot and Floor and Decor and picked out flooring that we liked. Alexis kept telling us that she had a place for us to pick out flooring and kept avoiding talking about flooring we like from other companies. Since we were into the project for approximately 8 months already due to COVID, we decided to go with her contact. We wound up picking a floor with their contact, but we're concerned about how thin the flooring was since it was going over tile that was under our original pergo We were told not to worry about it and that they would make sure that everything was done right. About a month after install, the floor started buckling. We callEd All Island to ask Jay, the owner to come take a look at the floor. He said it would cost us $7,000 to redo the floor. We explained that we had reservations about putting this thin floor in, given our circumstances and that Alexis assured us that it would be fine and they'd take care of it. Jay told us flat out that he would replace it for another $7,000. Since then the floor has been separating in many places and even sticking up. We cut our feet on it and my husband had to tape it down. Since we only looked at samples and don't know the company they got this floor from, we have no warranty on it and have to redo the entire floor ( in four rooms of my home) costing us $9,000 more only four years later. The reason we waited these few years was because we knew it was going to cost a lot to redo this floor. Now we are in the process of getting it done right at a big cost. Home Depot professions said they don't even sell less than 8mm thick flooring, but All Island installed 5mm even after our concerns. I have many pictures of this disaster. When Jay visited us, he went around our kitchen kicking the planks to close up multiple gaps. The flooring was a big part of this disaster, but there is way more that happened with the crew that was working on our project. Paint splatter on our brand new windows and screens, holes left in corners of the room, kitchen cabinet handles screwed in crooked, grout started falling out of the backsplash tiles, and I could go on. Wish they would have done right by us.
