We ate here tonight on their "Grand Opening" night, so it goes without saying that the line was really long and they were probably overwhelmed, but it was a great experience that has me planning my next trip back! First of all, in regard to the atmosphere, it's got a great, clean modern vibe. There is plenty of space in between tables and chairs, and they could honestly stand to fit at least one more large table, but they've got a great setup that flows nicely with the modern chic decor. In regards to food, I have to say that I was certainly impressed with all of the dishes I tried and wouldn't mind trying more! I personally got the Tikka Masala with lamb and it certainly had some good flavors, however the dish itself was somewhat cooler (temperature-wise), however, all the rest of the dishes at our table were plenty warm, so I would chock that up to opening day and the staff just being absolutely overwhelmed. I also got the Shack Naan and it was delicious! Highly recommend getting this with any dish you try! Perhaps one of my favorite things we tried was the Mango Lassi beverage! It's similar to a smoothie with mango flavors, and I believe even a hint of ginger, that will have your tastebuds tap-dancing on the table! All in all, this is a great new restaurant for Lubbock. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was eclectically modern and clean, and great (American-style) Indian food and they even take Apple Pay! First off, I really enjoyed this place! The team was super friendly and helpful when I first arrived, and there was not much of a line (Sunday for lunch). The food is moderately priced, and really good! The samosas were okay, but a good little appetizer. I got the Tikka Masala, and Shack Naan. I definitely enjoyed both, and the combo of the extra flavors from the naan was a bonus. The Mango Lassi was also good. It wasn't too sweet, and it was cool for the tummy. Ok so I'm going to attempt to be fair based on the idea that this is quick service imitation Indian food. So since Everyone likes to start off with atmosphere let's go. This location is clean the people attending register were nice and the environment okay not my cup of tea for music but muzak is muzak. All the people sitting at the table seem to be enjoying their food I wouldn't say it was a lively vibe but it's a fast food restaurant no one's going there for the vibe right normally. So let's move to the food being that this is my first visit to the location I decided to try one of their specials which was a grilled curried steak over a bed of rice for $11. well first let me say thank God there was the curry sauce over my steak otherwise the rice may have been unedible. The steak was flavorful however severely fatty even if I take into account the fact that this isn't $11 dish. And don't get crazy I love a fatty steak but steaks that have fat for flavor or one thing this felt like that for filler. I also decided to get one of their chicken wraps. Unfortunately I can't put inflection on it but when I say chicken wraps I'm confused by the small amount of chicken and how small the actual wraps were. and this dish came with an option of either rice or Salad which I was confused by yet again because in my mind I thought that was going to be in the wrap and it wasn't. and in this case I could really use something resembling sauce because the rice was dry I know this is supposed to be an Indian restaurant and an Indian recipe but it was as dry as the sand in Indian Desert. not really sure what the Tomato base sauce that came in a cup was but it reminded me of tomato soup from Campbell's but then somebody threw some weird spice into it. read more

Went here yesterday in an attempt to finally try some Indian food. Was horribly disappointed. In their defense I've never had Indian food and didn't know what to expect. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and my BF had the Butter Masala. I liked his better than mine. I asked for Hot and it was not spicy at all. All was cold and I think I might've enjoyed the butter masala had it been hot. We came there just wanting to try it so all was not lost. The interior was nice and the staff were friendly. The Naan was good, would've been great if it were hot. It was nice to try something new but I was sad it was disappointing. I think I may go back to try the samosas. You must keep what this restaurant is trying to do in perspective. This is a clean fast food restaurant that serves good Indian food. The decor is minimalist and is kept very clean. You order from a menu on the wall while you stand in front of the cash register. If that lowers your expectations, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the food. While not great, the food is pretty good. They do not skimp on the quality or quantity of the protein portion (chicken, lamb, etc.) of each dish, so you do not leave hungry. Unfortunately, they suffer from a common restaurant ploy; when the customer prefers to avoid sugar, caffeine, or alcohol and asks for water to drink, the customer is given a cup that is so small that it would need filling three or four times to finish the meal. Keep in mind that there is no table service, the customer needs to get up and walk over to the water dispenser each time the little cup is dry. I get it, they are trying to sell some drink, but my wife and I already pay a $25 to $35 bill, can't I get a water glass that will get me through dinner? Truth be told, the cashier can be convinced to give you a larger cup (after offering some resistance), but should I need to go through this? This issue costs them the second star. read more

This is our absolutely favorite Indian place. They have delicious vegetarian options without sacrificing any of the taste.

The food is alright but not worth the price, there's a few things like the size of the naan which is soo small and the samosa chaat is like so bad because there's a small piece of samosa and a whole bunch of chickpeas and onions, and the samosa is crushed your not supposed to serve it crushed, and I also think that the chicken tikka is really bland. My sixteen year old son randomly decided he wanted to try curry, so off to the Tikka Shack we went. The restaurant has light colored wood and is pretty bright. It was very clean and simple. The woman at the front counter was very friendly and helped my son and I choose our food items. We both got there lamb Tikka masala, but I got mine spicy. The garlic naan was WONDERFUL (I think it's me new favorite food!). They took FOREVER. They forgot my rice. There was very little chicken in my order because they, apparently, don't know how to weigh and measure proteins for consistency like literally every other place on the planet. And, once again, they folded the naan over so that it melts together. So, you're forced to either eat it like a folded piece of pizza, or tear off one half of the bread with no toppings and have the other half left with all the toppings. Ridiculous! This is like your Indian food version of Chipotle and it's freaking delicious. I tried the chicken wrap with a side of rice and it was soooooo good. Super flavorful and really hits the spot when you're starving. The wrap is pretty big, it's filled with chicken, cheese, tomato and salad and it's served warm. The side of rice is really a huge portion of rice and was plain but if you sprinkle the sauce it comes with, really does it justice. I wasn't able to finish the whole platter so I was able to split it into two meals. And because I did that, I wish they gave us more sauce because the rice didn't taste super flavorful without it. The interior of Tikka Shack is modern. Very roomy and spacious. The menu is located at the front of the line along with their description too. This place is definitely Americanized and if you're trying to ease your way into Indian food, this is a good start, at least for me it is. Definitely great if you are craving Indian food. We were passing by and saw how this place had great reviews. It definitely lived up to its expectations. I liked how there are veggie options. There isn't a full authentic Indian food menu (like they didn't have saag) but it was still delicious. The naan we ordered was garlic naan and it didn't taste like garlic at all. The naan didn't taste authentic. This place is great if you want fast Indian food but it's not necessarily 100% authentic. I'm Indian food obsessed so maybe I am more picky than the average person when it comes to Indian food. I am a *frequent* customer here and felt the need to toss in my two cents. Service - 9/10 Cleanliness - 10/10 Variety - 8/10 Ease for custom orders - 10/10 Creativity of fusion dishes - 10/10 (the masala fries are bomb!) 1. There is some variability in the portion sizes of the curry; however, it has yet to be so glaring that it's stopped me from coming back. 2. You have to actually KNOW how to order your food. Don't complain that it's too bland if you do not order it with some spice (yes you can ask for hot and extra hot). You can also order extra vegetables, meat, paneer, and so on. 3. They make the food fresh, so for those of us with more nit picky palates, it is true that there is a degree of variability in the flavor depending upon who is in the kitchen. 4. They are being more environmentally friendly than most other places by using recyclable and biodegradable containers. I've never had one rip or tear on me and I've gotten several large to-go orders on more than one occasion (when eating with friends etc.). 5. Fresh, handmade naan! The Goan Vindaloo and Spinach Masala are quite good (get them spicy!), the wraps are great too (go with the salad for sure though), the mango lassi is great (though when they first opened, they used to add a lot more cardamom which was quite good), and the samosa chaat is awesome. For the other people qq'ing about being from a "metropolitan area" and so on, get over yourself, please. I've lived in 3/25 of the largest cities in the *world* and I'm plum happy with Tikka Shack. I could go on about having Indian food all over the world, from France to East Asia, Canada to Peru... But it would be a moot point. Honestly, unless you've lived in the country where the food originates from, or you've had that style of food literally all over the world and have some strict method by which to compare each trial, your comment is invalid. Tikka Shack gets a 4/5 because it is a 4/5 restaurant. I have had my order messed up once or twice there, but that was out of about 20 visits, and as stated above (#1) there is variability in portion sizes. Neither of these are grievous offenses by any means and I'll continue being a frequent customer. read more

The samosas and garlic naan were very good. The lamb korma was above average. However, the chicken 65 was terrible -- it was just very dry chicken tandoori. There was no spiciness or sauce as true chicken 65 is supposed to have. Since I wrote the above, I've received a personal message from TS's owner apologizing about the chicken 65 and offering to comp my next order of the dish. That's very impressive, and based on that great customer service I've changed my rating from 3 to 4 stars. I tried this relatively new place which opened about 8 months ago. They serve Indian food but restaurant has American vibe to it which I like to be honest. I think it will attract more locals to try it out. Regarding food I would say most of the items we ordered were tasty except paneer 65. This place stays open between lunch and dinner hours so that's a plus. read more

Chipotle is to Mexican food what Tikka Shack is to Indian. This is not where you go for authenticity - I shouted my order to a blue-eyed cashier over some full-volume Alesso on the speakers. Still, I think it's pretty good to satisfy your cravings in a pinch. Also, if your stomach is super weak but you wish you could handle real Indian food, this place is perfect. Not speaking from personal experience... I get the butter masala with chicken every time. Overall portion size is kinda small and sometimes they skimp on the protein. (Protip: don't be a scrub like me and wear white unless you want to accessorize yourself with sauce forever.) The masala fries they just added to their menu are BOMB, y'all. You can add your choice of meat or get them without; I didn't add any and was still full for hours after. Just enough spices/tikka sauce for a kick, but not enough to get soggy destroyed fries. Haven't found a combo this good since Chilantro's kimchi fries in Austin! My one major complaint is with their to-go containers (cardboard?) - the food inside steams the bowl up enough to make it rip really easily if you're not careful. I much prefer them to styrofoam/plastic but maybe they can start adding foil or something else inside to prevent this from happening. Brightly lit interior with lots of seating, clean tables and wood decor. Service is friendly and the wait has never been longer than 15 minutes. Three stars for price vs. portion and how much I'd get judged by my brown friends for giving any more than that. read more
