Tiki Bird is such a fun and welcome addition to Grand Junction. The food is exceptional (which is exactly what you'd expect from the Peche team). I love the concept: essentially a collection of their best chicken dishes paired with a rum-forward cocktail menu. It's focused, playful, and they execute the vision incredibly well. When you hear "Tiki Bird," this is exactly what you hope it will be. The can't-miss items for me are the Thai fried chicken, green hummus, and honestly anything with their pesto. Everything we tried was incredibly well done. Robert and the bar team are creating AMAZING drinks, and the attention to detail throughout the space really makes the whole experience. The design is fun without feeling gimmicky and creates the kind of atmosphere where you want to bring a group of friends, order a few rounds, and stay awhile. We'd been hearing good things about Tiki Bird, so we went. The good - the food was very good! I had the Jerk Chicken, my wife had the GA. Both were great! The service was beyond excellent and attentive. The kitchen got our order out quickly and the plating was attractive. The flat prices of $29 for an entree was a great idea as it made budgeting easy if you are worried about the bill. The not so good - someone got WAY to creative on the menus! There are 12 fonts, which our waiter told us were graffiti fonts. That many fonts makes one think about ransom notes in 1920's movies. The colors made the menu harder to read. This was exacerbated by the glossy plastic covers each page of the menu had. There is a more legible menu on their web page. We also found the pictures our phone took were easier to read than the actual menu. When the menu leaves the waiter having to explain what everything is, that's a tremendous waste of time, though Bryan was very happy to tell us what the entrees were. All the dishes were chicken based. If you are a vegetarian or vegan you are out of luck. If you don't eat chicken, for whatever reason, you are out of luck. It'd be nice if they had some non-chicken entrees. The quirky - the appetizers are called "Quickies" which is a little suggestive, and the desserts are called "Happy Endings" which is reminiscent of a sleazy massage parlor's extra services. The unacceptable - like their sister restaurant, Peche in Palisade, Tiki Bird has a sound system that is turned up too loud and has the bass turned UP. The sound level measured a consistent 78 to 82db (yes, I have a sound pressure meter with me, doesn't everyone?). This is much too loud for casual conversation.. I suppose we could have texted each other, but that seems a bit weird. The excessive bass level made the sound seem louder than it was and removed any clarity the sound system might have otherwise delivered. The music selection was definitely geared to a younger audience than us. We don't insist we be able to identify every song played, but all the music being so very recent, too loud, and distorted really didn't win us over. Bottom line - for us, we'll order to-go and enjoy their food at home until we hear that they've ironed out the kinks. read more

This newer fast casual eatery opened this past summer in downtown Grand Junction. I was greeted by Lane. He was a local college student. It was opened by the owners of Peche in Palisade. Peche has many creative choices, but once a menu item goes away it never comes back. So they opened a chicken centric place with previous Peche favorites. Straight forward menu of quick appetizers, hot bites, light chicken choices and large plates. They offer cocktails, zero proof (no mocktails), wine and beer. Colorful sign at entry. There are tables on both sides and a central community table. Open kitchen concept taken a bit too far. You actually have to walk through the prep area to reach the restrooms. I could envision safety and sanitary issues. I started with a Coconut Old Fashioned and order of Plantain chips with Caribbean salsa. The drink was served in a short metal cup. Odd. Next was the Jungle Bird tiki drink in a larger cup filled to the brim with lots of crushed ice. Tiki drinks are $15. My chicken choice was Indonesian skewers with Saus Kacang, a spicy peanut sauce. I got 3 skewers for $16. I wanted the Peach Crisp with ice cream & Palisade peaches, but the peach season is over. I got the Sundae instead. It was served in a cup with a unwrapped waffle cone, soft serve vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and topped with a candied cherry for $9. The have an outdoor space to play Bocce with upstairs and downstairs seating in a repurposed shipping container. But it was closed due to rain. My server said the artificial grass is quite slippery when wet. read more

5 of us Went here for my Sons 25th B-Day. We were all so excited to try it. The Wait staff were super amazing, accommodating and so Friendly. That being said, everything felt way overpriced for what was Offered. The Pina Colada was served in a Coupe Glass (very Small) $16 and lackluster. My Daughter and I had the Ga. The Coconut rice was great, yet $28 for 2 dry Chicken Skewers, 1 drumstick, 1 wing and 1/2 cup rice, seemed a bit pricey same goes for the $28 Chicken Sandwich. We have no problem spending more money for elevated food, unfortunately, it missed the mark for our Party. Who knows? Maybe it was just an off night. Sadly, I don't think we will be going back due to this experience. read more

Everything is what you would expect of the other restaurant from the owners of Peche, in Palisade. Service is always top tier. All staff are happy to explain the cocktails and menu. We have a great time anytime we go! While we do understand some of criticism, such as the hard to read menus listed in the other reviews that are on yelp, I believe many of the complaints stem from visits during the Soft Opening in which the staff were still getting used to working the restaurant. read more

This place has something special! We tried it in their first week of opening and it did NOT disappoint! The view first and foremost from the top deck where we ate was amazing. To look over their grass area and just enjoy the music was a vibe! Our server Ava was the sweetest and so kind! She had great customer service and so did the rest of the staff! Each plate that was brought to our table was so delicious! The photos don't do it justice! I wish you could scratch a sniff because the smell in the air as we waited for these plates was so good! It brought back memories from my childhood growing up and enjoying the bbq and summer days! Definitely try it if you're in town and SIT OUTSIDE! I had high hopes for Tiki Bird, but unfortunately it missed the mark. The outdoor space has so much potential and is easily the best part of the experience, but it feels underutilized. I found myself wishing there was an option to simply grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere outside. The restaurant seems to be aiming for a fine dining experience, but the food quality didn't justify the prices. The menu is expensive for what you get, and my meal was particularly disappointing. I'm pretty sure I paid $28 for what tasted like frozen chicken breasts. Overall, the food felt average at best while the prices suggested something much more elevated. It's a great location with a promising concept, but the execution just isn't there yet. read more

As someone who goes to Peche frequently, I was excited to try Tiki Bird knowing that the owners of Peche would provide quality food and service just as they do at Peche. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! Our table all got different dishes and every single one was flavorful, plenty of portions, and each one of us saying "oh we need to try that next." Everything is reasonably priced, especially considering the portions are huge ( we all had leftovers). Really excited to check this place out. Really disappointed after visiting. The good- We found the food to be very good and Bryan, our server, was outstanding. The not so good - No beer selection to speak of, the wine selection was even worse. Not sure how you can charge the prices with such limited selection. As well, the food was good, however, I felt like we paid "fine dining" prices for picnic food. The menu was very hard to read - I'm still feeling a little anxious - just trying to determine what we were getting. I don't think we will go back again...unless something changes. read more

The food we did have was really good! However, I'm unsure if we will come back. Paid $86 (including a 18% tip) for a lemonade ($5), small wine portion ($16), 3 small skewers ($18) and a "tikka" (hummus, pickled side, small naan, chicken leg, drumstick and 2 skewers) ($28) We felt like for the amount we paid, the portions were a bit outlandish. I understand for well crafted food the prices are going to be high: but it was still disappointing to leave hungry and defeated by the portion sizing. Service was extremely slow as well, HOWEVER our waitress was so nice, and did apologize for the wait time. The menu was near impossible to read as well since it was very low contrast. I think the bad outweighed the good with this experience unfortunately, leading to my hesitancy to come back.
