There is a grocery store on the next block, and a bakery two blocks away. The B&B is on I & 13th, which is walkable to just about anything downtown. And you pass by Star the Reindeer on the way!

The work and effort they have put into the camp facilities over the years since is wonderful!! The cabins, outdoor kitchen, shower house and hardscaping are absolutely fantastic. This lake has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. The service and support we received from all of the staff was outstanding! They went out of their way to accommodate all the needs of our rather large group of 8 which included 4 grandkids and a dog. We caught so many fish I had to start fishing left handed to rest my right arm. We will return again and again.

Missed our Alaska Airlines flight from Anchorage due to Sportsmans indifference. Weather was excellent and there were no mechanical issues. The lodge was only 30 minutes flight time from Anchorage. The missed flight meant an unplanned overnight stay in Seattle and a 6 AM departure the next day. The arrogant indifference to the consequences of their incompetence was staggering!

We walked those routes many times during our stay. It was also very conveniently located within walking distance of the Alaska Rail station. It is not located near any grocery stores, however, so we did a big Costco shop shortly after our arrival in Anchorage. Our room was on the top floor and we had a great view through the living room window. The bedroom has plenty of closet space as well as a comfortable queen sized bed and ceiling fan. The bathroom is small with no bathtub, but has an awesome rain shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Because we stayed as long as we did, we did not receive the bagged breakfast offered to other guests. We were asked what we would like and were given fruit, bread, eggs, yogurt, butter, bacon, bananas, apples, oranges and granola. Basically, everything we asked for, we received. It was great being able to make our own breakfasts! Compared to the price of hotels, many of which are located only a block or two away from the Arctic Fox, this place is a good deal. As well, as the privacy of your room, you have access to a large outdoor deck with tables and chairs as well as a grassy area with a table and chairs and there is a common room and a laundry room. A cab to/from the airport cost us just $25. Now, as for the negatives. Anchorage has a homeless problem. Many homeless are attracted to a soup kitchen located within a block of the Arctic Fox. They did not harass us or approach us at any time, but they are there in numbers and it wasn't all that pleasant having to walk by them as often as we did. Most nights we didn't hear them either, but there were a couple of nights where they kept us awake with their shouting. This b&b is also located near the train tracks and during the day, especially if you have your windows open, the trains can be noisy. We were not bothered at night, however, because the bedroom is on the side opposite to where the tracks are located.

We didn't mind walking around but if you want to be close to restaurants/shops this may not be the place for you. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you're inside, it's pretty. There are no elevators so if you have bags they will help you carry them up. The common area is on the 2nd floor and so was our room. Some rooms share bathrooms. We didn't want to share so we requested a room with your own bathroom. When we checked in, Carol took good care of us, she was our host during our stay. She was a sweetheart, every morning she made breakfast and it was good. Yes, your stay comes with free breakfast. If you can't stay for breakfast just let your host know the day before and they will prepare you a bag and have it ready for you in the morning. House keeping was great! Our room was spotless! The whole place was spotless! The only complaint I have is that the walls are thin. It's an old house, I understand. We are from the east coast so we were in bed by 8pm. When other people came back from dinner we could hear them loud and clear, the walking and closing doors, etc. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. While we enjoyed our stay we have discovered that we actually preferred hotels over B&B's. If you like B&B's and don't mind walking to the center of town or driving, then I would say give this place a try.

The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate dietary requests and I appreciate the variety of food and snacks provided. Delight!!…read more Our flight was delayed, so we didn't arrive until 4 a.m., but the staff was suuuper welcoming, and we were able to rest comfortably for the remainder of the morning! Breakfast was an extra-special treat because they had multiple gluten-free options AND gluten-free toast!! (It was a shared toaster, but since I'm not celiac, it was a welcomed gift!) We were able to catch our bus to Seward without a hitch, and the saloon (off the lobby) where we waited and enjoyed breakfast was absolutely magical! There was so much history to take in, and it was such a fun way to experience a little piece of Anchorage's past. The location was also great--close to all the touristy fun and gift shops! 10/10, Highly Recommend…read more This has to be one of the most restful and beautiful places on earth. When I walked in I didn't know whether to relax on the deck and enjoy the scenery or lie down on one of the beds and take a nap. If I could afford a vacation home, this is exactly what I'd want. My words won't do it justice, but I'll try. The lodge is in Indian, about halfway between Anchorage and the bus depots for people traveling to Whittier or Seward. The views of snow capped mountains and ocean water of Turnagain Arm are unforgettable. We were even able to watch passing Beluga whales for a few minutes. The lodge has three floors, three full baths, four HUGE comfortable beds and two smaller beds. There are upper and lower living rooms with big windows looking out at the mountains, as well as a full open kitchen for socializing. There is a wide deck around 3 sides with a railing that even a toddler couldn't get through, plus lots of chairs, deck chairs and rocking chairs. Roger and Arlene, the owners, are a lot of fun, and can really entertain with their stories of Alaska and gold mining. After several days of sightseeing, this was the most beautiful and perfect place to rest and relax. The icing on the cake.

However, after dealing with this company I think that "Crooked" is actually a term I would describe the manager and the owner. It is my understanding there have been numerous "extraordinary" events which would keep Warren from returning phone calls. Instead he would simply screen the calls. However, when someone eagerly takes money for a service and then refuses to answer the phone, texts, and emails I find no excuse. I have been waiting to fulfill a dream of a guided Alaskan fishing trip for more than 20 years. When I spoke to Warren (Gen Mgr) at the Sportsman's show in Boise he was very friendly. He gladly took my information and my money. However when a hiccup arose, he refused to answer any of the three phone numbers he'd given me. He did not answer emails. I spoke to him one time to try and rectify the situation, and he never called me back or answered. I finally had to dispute charges to my credit card. I hope those of you reading this will think twice about giving this company your business. If you do give the, money, I hope it works out for you, and you have a great fishing adventure. Caveat Emptor FYI: Crooked Creek received two horrible reviews on Facebook. I'd tell you to go read them, but it appears the management decided to erase the reviews from their page. The questions that he didn't have an answer for he sent a guide over to help us. The park is set up nicely with grass and trees around you. It gives you more of a camping feeling opposed to being on rock or concrete. If you're going to area I would definitely recommend this place.
