When I moved into my first house, one of my first gifts was an apple tree from FMNN. This summer, FMNN cleared out the tables and my husband and I used the greenhouse for our wedding reception. It was an absolutely beautiful space and there were hanging baskets everywhere. FMNN is a short drive outside of Anchorage and you can't beat the views on the way out. The only downside is that in late July it can be very buggy outside the greenhouse which created a few unexpected wedding day challenges.

There's a nice boardwalk that encircles the pond which is filled with lily pads. As we walked around the lake we saw baby ducks swimming which just added to the serenity of the nature outside. Inside the venue there's a kitchen/bar and an upstairs area which was used by the bridal party to get ready - and hide from the groom! Views from the balcony are just beautiful! Flowers, trees and mountains. It's really breathtaking! You are responsible for cleaning up and table decor. The owners were very kind! My favorite thing was he fact that with the customers consent, they will donate the center pieces to the nursing home nearby.

I was born in Anchorage, but I don't remember much of it. Let me just say that Alaska is the most gorgeous place in the world. The venue was perfect for a wedding. The bartender was a gem, and let me leave my car there when I drank too much bubbly, the view was incredible, the grounds outside were perfect, there was booze galore (I shouldn't mention that twice, but I was on vacation!) I'm pretty sure I would be a member if I lived there. I'm pretty sure I'll be back when I come to visit! I hope my bartender lady is still there. She was amazing. Huge fan guys! Huge. The rent is reasonable and the owners are very accommodating. The upstairs is available for private events and features a small stage, sound system, kitchen, and patio. There are no ushers so finding your seat can be a little confusing, especially the first time. There are snacks for sale and I didn't see any specific signs saying no food or drink...though my understanding of theater etiquette implies no food or drink...so that's interesting and worth a little extra observation the next time.

I have heard stories about how it was quite the place back in the day, but now it just strikes me as odd. They have less oil and gas folks than they once did which speaks to how anchorage has changed, but I never would have expected a baby to appear in the bar of the PCA but it happened. The food is nothing special and the service isn't the quickest but if you want to have an a good place to people watch, this is it!

There seems to be a contingent trying to make the two-martini lunch cool again, and while I will not join them (until 5), I applaud and support their efforts. My family and I were looking for extended-stay lodging from Feb 1st - April 1st 2021. We were…read moremoving to Alaska from the lower 48, and needed a place to live while in the process of purchasing a house. I had contacted Karen Harris, the owner of Alaska Garden Gate BnB, in December 2020 and secured our reservation for an extended stay. Karen informed me in late January 2021 that it was possible the property would sell during our reservation dates, but that she was doing everything she could to ensure current guests could stay as long as possible, and that future reservations were honored. We checked into the Cottonwood Cottage on Feb. 1st. 2021 with no problems. During our stay, we were given notice that both property appraisals and inspections were taking place and were asked for our patience and understanding. I had email Karen multiple times to clarify our reservation and status of the property's ownership. Karen again responded that the contract and sale had not been finalized and she would let me know. On the morning of February 10th, Karen called to informed me that we needed to vacate the property within 24 hrs due to the sale of the property. Karen stated that the new owners were not going to continue with a BnB business, and that they required all long-term tenants and short terms guests to leave immediately. We complied with the abrupt request and thankfully found alternative lodging the same day. However, we were subsequently charged extra nights through Feb 13th. While a refund was provided for those extra nights; based on Alaska Garden Gate BnB's February 19th Facebook post, they are actively taking reservations through March 16th. While Alaska Garden Gate BnB will no longer be an active business come March 16th, I would not recommend any individual to do current or future business with an owner and company who treats their guests with such blatant disrespect and deceit.

We checked before arriving in, on check-in timings and other details to make sure we get the keys and other things in case if we get delayed. We took room for 4 people, so it came with double bunk beds with one bottom queen with rest single beds. Room was decent side with modern bathroom in an apartment style. Also, it came with shared kitchen with table, microwave and coffee maker. Dining hall was set up in a ballroom environment with round tables and chairs around it. Also, outdoor dining area is also available. Homemade breakfast is served: * hot oatmeal and blueberries with additional side toppings available - nuts, almonds, sugar, raisins and cranberries - loved it ! * egg omelette with potato stuffed - again loved it * muffins - not well cooked, felt like it was under baked and needs more cooking Other than that, regular store-bought bread with butter, jam was also served. The only complaint is in the morning there were too much noise as rooms are layed out next to each other with very little space which can be annoying if you decide to sleep in little more than others, we can hear people shouting and bathroom noise as well. We would totally come in here any time during our next Alaska trip and recommend it to others.
