We stayed here for two weeks while using Anchorage as our home base. The b&b is located such that we were easily able to walk into town and down to Ship Creek. We walked those routes many times during our stay. It was also very conveniently located within walking distance of the Alaska Rail station. It is not located near any grocery stores, however, so we did a big Costco shop shortly after our arrival in Anchorage. Our room was on the top floor and we had a great view through the living room window. The bedroom has plenty of closet space as well as a comfortable queen sized bed and ceiling fan. The bathroom is small with no bathtub, but has an awesome rain shower. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Because we stayed as long as we did, we did not receive the bagged breakfast offered to other guests. We were asked what we would like and were given fruit, bread, eggs, yogurt, butter, bacon, bananas, apples, oranges and granola. Basically, everything we asked for, we received. It was great being able to make our own breakfasts! Compared to the price of hotels, many of which are located only a block or two away from the Arctic Fox, this place is a good deal. As well, as the privacy of your room, you have access to a large outdoor deck with tables and chairs as well as a grassy area with a table and chairs and there is a common room and a laundry room. A cab to/from the airport cost us just $25. Now, as for the negatives. Anchorage has a homeless problem. Many homeless are attracted to a soup kitchen located within a block of the Arctic Fox. They did not harass us or approach us at any time, but they are there in numbers and it wasn't all that pleasant having to walk by them as often as we did. Most nights we didn't hear them either, but there were a couple of nights where they kept us awake with their shouting. This b&b is also located near the train tracks and during the day, especially if you have your windows open, the trains can be noisy. We were not bothered at night, however, because the bedroom is on the side opposite to where the tracks are located. read more

I give this place a 3.5 star. Don't get me wrong, we had great service, it just comes down to personal preference. We stayed here May 2016. It's about a 20 min walk from the downtown area. We didn't mind walking around but if you want to be close to restaurants/shops this may not be the place for you. It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you're inside, it's pretty. There are no elevators so if you have bags they will help you carry them up. The common area is on the 2nd floor and so was our room. Some rooms share bathrooms. We didn't want to share so we requested a room with your own bathroom. When we checked in, Carol took good care of us, she was our host during our stay. She was a sweetheart, every morning she made breakfast and it was good. Yes, your stay comes with free breakfast. If you can't stay for breakfast just let your host know the day before and they will prepare you a bag and have it ready for you in the morning. House keeping was great! Our room was spotless! The whole place was spotless! The only complaint I have is that the walls are thin. It's an old house, I understand. We are from the east coast so we were in bed by 8pm. When other people came back from dinner we could hear them loud and clear, the walking and closing doors, etc. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast so we didn't know what to expect. While we enjoyed our stay we have discovered that we actually preferred hotels over B&B's. If you like B&B's and don't mind walking to the center of town or driving, then I would say give this place a try. read more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Arctic Fox. It is in a part of town that is best described as a bit dodgy but I always felt safe. The B&B itself is very nice, the rooms are great and the hostess (Alex) is pleasant. The common area is well appointed and relaxing. As I write this review I'm sitting on their nice little patio looking at the mountains. I travel through anchorage frequently for business and I'll definitely stay here in the future. read more

Arctic Fox Bed & Breakfast Inn - Hotels Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

Stayed here for a few nights last week. The positives: room was clean, nice bathroom and parking available. The bad: next to train tracks so If you want to sleep, good luck with that, trains pass all the time with their horns blasting, area does not feel safe, next to soup kitchen and many homeless sleeping around the area on the sidewalks. I didn't feel safe to walk there at night and we took Ubers. The rooms do not have any usb outlets to charge your devices, the tv only comes with a roku system so it's a pain to watch and there's no way you want to log into your private Amazon or Netflix account here. We just watched on our phone/iPad via our phone provider. They say they serve an "enhanced " continental breakfast, they actually give you a little brown paper bag with crap in it that you need to get out of the fridge in the morning. The room price is the same without a nice usual B&B breakfast. Better off at a hotel and hit IHOP! To top it off, the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors snoring all night long!! Ugh! We wouldn't recommend this place and won't be back, too many other choices with better quieter locations. read more

I am fascinated with B&Bs, I'd love to own one one day, so I went in and had a look around this place. The owners are super nice, if you go here expect to be treated like a good friend or even family, the guests all just kind of gather in the community area and talk to one another or the hosts, it's so comfortable. I went through the different rooms they're quaint, clean and warm, they've got tons of rooms for small or large groups, some rooms have full kitchens for privacy and home living while away from home. I'd definitely be comfortable staying here. I just think this place is terrific. If you're looking for a place to stay while visiting Anchorage, go here. The cost for a really nice sized suite with a full kitchen for 2 people is only around $149 a night, I checked one of the hotels in the same general downtown area and their smallest room for one person would run $232 a night, ick. read more

I would have given the Arctic Fox a 5 star if it was not for the train noise, airplane noise, thin walls, and a brown bag continental breakfast at a bed and breakfast. The one bedroom apartment we stayed in for 2 nights was beautiful inside with an upgraded kitchen and bathroom. We stayed May of 2022. In between our tours of area, we wanted to take a nap with no interruptions. This is not possible. The trains start coming through around 8am and don't stop until about 10:30pm. The noise from the horns sound like the train is in the next room. Speaking of the next room, the walls are thin and conversations carry. There is no elevator and the apartment was on the third level. Small airplanes flying low are a constant. The brown bag breakfast included- yogurt, boiled egg, granola bar, an orange, mixed nuts and a bagel. The floors are not carpeted and needed scrubbing because the smell of other guests' pets was in the air. The living room couch needs to be replaced because some assistance is needed to get up from it or do a couple of quick pushes. Well, good luck. read more

Very accommodating, friendly and helpful staff. Common areas and our room we dust free and all furniture and furnishings functioned perfectly - this place felt comfortable and we'll maintained. My fiance and I have not experienced many bed and breakfast places and this one left us with a positive experience. All the staff (Carol and Allen were the two we spoke with) were full of friendly advice, information and knowledge. The food was better than we expected but have little to compare it to. One downside is that our room did not have blackout curtains. The place is within walking distance of everything we hoped for. Would recommend this to family and friends. read more

The owners of this BnB are truly the kindest super hosts! I have stayed at 2 of their properties in Anchorage. By far the best place to stay in Anchorage for cozy comfort. Breakfast is always delicious, varied, and healthy. Extremely clean. The beds are extremely comfortable. Very spacious and nicely decorated. Check in is very easy with their door codes. The Arctic Fox B&B is great! It's in the process of being renovated and the manager let us peak into some of the new rooms. Everything is getting an update, and it seems that Carol (the manager) has the perfect eye for even the smallest of touches. She is extremely helpful and warm (let them know ahead of time of any dietary restrictions and they are more than happy to oblige...Carol is an excellent gluten-free cook, being GF herself). While we were there, they were renovating some bathrooms which we were able to get a look at their plans and I can attest they will be beautiful. We stayed in the suite on the top floor (number 5?) and had a great view of the mountains and city from the bedroom, and a huge picture window overlooking the historic railroad yard and the inlet in the main living area. You can even see Denali from there! And the sunsets...! To previous posters, yes, the location is not the Wildflower Inn, but it is a short walk to downtown, and the charm of this place is unmistakable. We will definitely be back! read more

We reserved two rooms with a shared bath for my wife and me and for my sister. Although the bedrooms are quite nice, what we discovered was that the bathroom was not only down the hall, the hall was open and adjacent to the dining and living room area where other guests were congregating. This was clearly not going to work for us, so we ended up moving to another hotel and we were NOT refunded our deposit by the Arctic Fox. So please BEWARE before booking! read more

I loved staying at the arctic fox and wildflower inn. ( Separate places owned and managed by the same guys.) After 5 days on the Alaskan highway these cozy spots in great locations were soooo welcomed. Wildflower inn has a natural grocery store across the street, and arctic fox is close to all the downtown fun. Larry and Alan go out if their way to be excellent hosts. And their breakfasts are phenomenal. I'm gluten free and there were tasty choices there for me every morning. The rooms and suites were very clean and invited and had all we needed to make meals for ourselves. I highly HIGHLY recommend staying here if you are in Anchorage. :) read more

This place was, at first, something I was dreading staying at. It seemed oddly cheap for the other hotels in the area, it didn't look too nice, and I just had a not-so-good feeling. When we pulled up for the first time, I thought it was going to be bad from looking at the facade of the building, but when we went into the office, and one of the owners led us into the room, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very spacious, clean, modern, and stocked with amenities. Luckily, we were on the lower floor, and so didn't have to climb up the stairs. The staff there were very nice, welcoming and seemed pleased with our business. The breakfast was also great, with many choices of fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, as well as breads and yogurts, and even more. The dining area was also very nice, with great views and several places to sit and meet the other guests, but never crowded or loud. They even have laundry service which we used a bit earlier than the posted hours, but they were happy to accommodate. This place is truly a hidden gem and makes for a great place to stay whenever you're in Anchorage. Stayed two nights. The owners are so gracious. Beautiful rooms, and extremely clean and well kept. I travel often and this was the cleanest place ice ever stayed. Very Clean, comfortable, and the breakfast is not bad considering it's Anchorage. I'm a big breakfast person, despite the egg dish is not fancy, at least they provide hot boiled egg, hot sausage and some fruits and another hot sweet breakfast dish, apart from coffee, tea, juice and cereal.
