Garlic Black Bean Spicy Miso Spicy Cucumber Shiitake Mushroom, Soy Tare Ribeye (Black Angus)
Duyen T.

Heard good reviews here so decided to stop by for dinner. My partner and I were quickly seated as it wasn't packed on a Thursday night. There was lots of seating even tables for large groups, booth, and single. The staff were super nice and friendly. For starters we order the lamb and mushroom Yakitori along with the spicy cucumber. The spicy cucumber were nice and refreshing yet had a nice kick to them so I definitely recommend. As for the Yakitori, I say pass on those as the lamb were too chewy and salty and mushroom were too charred to where that's all you could taste. For main, I ordered the Spicy Miso and my partner got the Garlic Black Bean. The Spicy Miso was flavorful, creamy, had a little kick to it, and the ramen noodles were chewy and perfectly cooked. As for the Garlic Black Bean though it was nice, it tasted kind bland and wished it had a little for of the garlic flavor. Overall, good place though some menu items were a miss but I definitely recommend the spicy cucumber and spicy miso ramen.

I think I went in with very high expectations because of how hyped this place was, and that affected my judgment. The restaurant was a bit cramped, but we were served pretty fast. The ramen is supposed to be the star of the show, but left me disappointed. The broth was on the bland side, and the toppings were a bit lacking. I had to add extra chili flakes and salt to mine. Not the worst bowl of ramen I've had, but the flavor of the broth is close to last place for me. The karaage was a redeeming factor though, among the best in texture that I've had.

Tiger Den has always been one of the most hyped ramen places in Houston for a very long time. It used to be one of the most popular ramen spots with long waiting lines, but it hasn't been as busy these days due to competition around town. I finally had the chance to try it recently for a Friday dinner for two, and the restaurant was not busy. The restaurant's ambiance was dark and moody. We were seated pretty quickly, and our server was nice. Our foods didn't take long to come out after we ordered either. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen, Takoyaki, and Chicken Kaarage. I think the best dish of the night was definitely the Chicken Karaage. It was tender, light, crispy. The Takoyaki was good with a great amount of octopus pieces in the filling. The Tonkotsu Ramen, however, was underwhelming. The broth was bland and not very rich, and the toppings were pretty lacking. Overall, this was about a 3.2 out of 5 for me. I would not mind eating at Tiger Den again, but I would definitely not go out of my way to come back, especially when there are so many other ramen options around town that I like so much better.

Gone here countless of times. Always 5/5 service, food, price. Just go, what are you waiting for?? Food They are all good if you like spicy: tsukemen (dipping noodle) burn your booty hole spicy but SOOO worth it! If you like unami flavorful: tonkatsu or any other noodles tbh. Even the most basic shoyu is stellar. If you can squeeze desert get the PANDAN DONUTS. Trust the cream and airy donut is A NICE MOUTH FEEL. Crispy airy, creamy and subtly sweet with hint of coconut. AMAZING. Parking I went on a week night and we did not have to wait outside, infact an employee came to get me but I was waiting for a friend. On the weekends you may have to place your name outside and they will call y'all in as it gets packed.

My daughter suggested this place because we both love ramen...her and her friends went and they really enjoyed it so I said why not give it a try....I did and I loved it went by myself for a lil solo date...its small and intimate and can get very pack on a Saturday evening...my only issue is that it's very dim so it was very hard to read the menu...but overall i loved the food...the pho was good and hot the calamari was fresh and the beef satay was very flavorful and the tender...I also had the green tea which was good as well....I will definitely go back with my daughter the next time

Don't eat the refrigerated food here, covered in mold and they asked me what was wrong with it.

Horrible, don't eat the refrigerated food here, he asked me what was wrong with it and told me to just get a new one, if you think im gonna eat anything else after seeing this you're crazy, I demanded my money back.

Tiger Den delivers some of the best ramen in Houston, with rich, flavorful broths and perfectly chewy noodles. The Dipping Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen are standout options. Don't skip out on their charcoal-grilled yakitori skewers, especially the beef tongue and pork belly. Pandan custard doughnuts for dessert. Do I need to say more? Trust me when I say they are a must. The cozy, lively atmosphere feels like a true Japanese izakaya. Expect a wait, but it's well worth it for the bold flavors and authentic experience!

Tiger Den used to be theeeeeee OG spot but the competition is fierce these days. I remember just loving the noodles and broth and this time around it all felt a bit pedestrian. The noodles were still good but the broth for the black bean and Tonkotsu were kinda plain and forgettable. Service was stellar, they made sure to check up on us and our daughter. Our waiter even helped us pack our ramen as we were struggling a bit with our toddler. Don't. Sleep. On. The. Pandan. Donuts. They still hit every time.

Located at the busy Dun Huang Plaza where foot traffic is heavy, there are customers coming in and out of Tiger Den at a frequent basis. Interior of the restaurant is simple and nice. There are many customers' paper drawings on display at the entrance. They are having a limited time Happy Hour promo now - buy a bowl of ramen and get half off an appetizer or dessert. Part of the Happy Hour promo also includes buy one sake and get the second half off. My family and I got the tsukemen ramen, Tonkatsu, and garlic black bean ramen. I enjoyed the tsukemen ramen as it had the right amount of spice and it was flavorful. However, the other two ramen bowls didn't have strong flavor soups. I am also not a big fan of cabbage in the ramen. The ika geso was crispy, while the Brussels sprouts were just ok. I also had the lamb, and ribeye yakitori. They were good but the lamb skewer could be better if the wasabi mayo was actually on the meat, not on the side. I received great service today. The servers were friendly and attentive.

Great pork based ramen and creamy based broth. Great value too for the size of the ramen you get . Would recommend!

Partially eaten! Larger serving size.

Challenging to find in the shopping center full of restaurants. Thanks for choosing the smallest font for the sign people. Inside was clean, not too crowded. Tastefully decorated. Wait time was minimal- there was a sign up outside. Service was good. Food came out quickly. The octopus appetizer was flavored well. The Brussel sprouts I inhaled. Yum! I think I ordered the wrong entree- did not enjoy the bean ramen. But I think that was a me thing. The rest of my party enjoyed their ramen and wings.

Chicken Tonkotsu Soup

Went with a group of 6. 4 of us ordered a Tonkotsu soup and stomachs weren't feeling great later into the day... It was good and I was the only one to get chicken , maybe it was the other place we went to ? Not sure so 50/50

There was a time where Tiger Den was the talk of the town - lines out the door and five star taste despite limited seating. Something about the recipe or ingredients doesn't hit the same way now as years past. From my latest visit - taste has regressed and I do not really feel Tiger Den offers anything special in 2023. Would I Go Out of My Way to Try? No Would I Return? No Ambiance- 7/10 Food Taste- 6/10 Service- 6/10 Value- 7/10 Date Worthy- No

Decent Ramen, but great meats and a fantastic atmosphere. The chicken hearts and cow tongue are amazing, and the ramen is pretty standard.

Ask the Community - Tiger Den

Is tiger den still open from 11 AM- 2 PM? On Saturdays?

12 am on Fridays and Saturdays

Do they have chicken broth options? I don't eat pork, but don't want to compromise on flavor

Unfortunately, no they don't have chicken broth options.

Do you guys take reservation?

No. I asked. And your entire party has to be there to be seated.

How quickly does a wait form on Friday evenings?

It forms pretty quickly. I suggest be there right at 5pm when they open, there will be little to no wait.

Can I order to-go or do they accept call in orders?

I just placed an order for pickup. I placed the order at 6:15 pm on a Saturday, and they said it would be ready in 30 minutes.

Open till 2 am Wed - Sun, Ohn Korean Eatery serves up a multitude of different Korean liquor…read more(mostly Soju) and a good mix of Korean street/bar food. My nephew and I were hungry late night so stopped in before midnight on a Wednesday, since the Vietnamese restaurant we wanted to try was unexpectedly closed. We just had food, and it was quite good: filling and satisfying. There is plenty of parking in the shared surface lot, though there were plenty of cars indicating that Ohn was still busy. We were seated in a booth, with a menu and water being brought over. Many small screens around the area were showing various K-Pop videos, with one of them syncing with the K-Pop heard throughout the restaurant. It's not a big menu, and once I saw Kimchi fried rice for $12.50, that was my choice. It came out pretty fast, a mound of freshly stir fried rice in the middle, a parboiled egg in the on top, and sprinkled with diced green onions. It came with 3 banchans, all of them kimchi (chinese cabbage, daikon, and cucumber)....I like all of them so ate, but it was overkill for my nephew. He ordered yangnyeom belly ($18), sweet and spicy glazed pork belly with yet even more kimchi. It came with a bowl of white rice. I really liked the fried rice: it had the right amount of fermented kimchi flavor with the rice not being too old. There was plenty enough for two to share. I wasn't as crazy about the pork belly...there was plenty of it, but the glaze wasn't really yangnyeom flavor...it was more like a sweet southern bbq sauce. The pork was cut into tabs (like filipino lechon) and had been deep fried to produce a very very crispy product, but still soft in the inside. The fried kimchi on the side would have been a great accompaniment, but for us with the kimchi fried rice, it was too much. We ended up taking most of it home. The waitress was attentive, refilling our water carafe as we constantly emptied it into our stainless steel cups, eating the hot and spicy food. We were done pretty quick and helped us pay at the table. I definitely got the feeling that others had been there for a while. This is as late as I've eaten in a very long time, not the case for my young nephew. It was fun trying to hang with him this late, at least this once.

Stopped in with a group of eight on a Saturday night and was seated at a very large table…read moreimmediately. I always thought that Ohn was quite popular, so I was surprised that they were not busy. We tried a few of their soju liter-rita drinks to share and at $16 during happy hour, it's not bad. Most of them are basically a bottle of soju mixed simply with some sort of Korean soft drink. Nothing to write home about, but a good option for a alcohol laden night. It's a bit on the darker side and K-Pop is playing. This is a cool place to have a good time if your standards aren't super duper high. We also tried a couple of their food items including the bulgogi fries, cheese tteokbokki, and jeyuk bokkeum. The food was only ok. We ordered the bulgogi fries because of our server's recommendation and it was under seasoned throughout and the fries were a bit soggy. The other items were also just average if not slightly below average. Nothing to write home about, but also nothing to complain about. I can see why the popularity of this place may have declined recently. The quality of food items is not as high as I would've expected or as high as next door Toukei (from what memory serves).

My first time trying here and it went better than I expected!…read more All the appetizers that I ordered were super delicious, but a personal favorite is the Spicy Chili Wonton. I had the Spicy Tonkatsu Beef Rib and it was a nice ramen to try. The portion size is generous with so much noodles and broth. The beef rib was so tender and fatty. The only thing I'd say is although the ramen broth was delicious, there is basically no toppings. You're eating noodles and the beef rib, oh and half of an egg. The staff there were kind. If you're not in the mood to wait for seating next door at Mensho, this would definitely be a good alternative.

Very disappointing on this visit…read more Do NOT go here if you don't like to wait. The restaurant is very small, and unfortunately, they don't seem to manage their seating arrangements very well. Our party was 4 adults and 2 kids, ages 7 and 2. We weren't offered the option of splitting into two tables to accommodate us sooner, which we would have gladly done, especially with two young children. What made the wait even frustrating was watching a few parties of 4, along with parties of 3 and 2 who arrived after us, get seated before us. Our party could have been separated into two tables, but we weren't offered that option. When we asked about it, the waitress gave us an unpleasant look as we explained how long we had been waiting and said that we would have preferred the option to split our party rather than continue waiting. Her reaction made us feel uncomfortable for expressing a reasonable concern. We were also told they wanted to make their customers happy, but from our perspective, the seating process just didn't feel well organized. Service was also extremely slow. Between waiting for a table, waiting for our food, and dining, our total time there was about 2.5 HOURS. That's simply too long for a casual meal with two young kids. Customer service was nice during our first visit, but unfortunately, it seems to have diminished in a very short time. The food was okay, but not enough to make up for the overall experience. Cleanliness also needs attention. The restroom was not well kept and had a foul smell, which added to our disappointment. We were also charged an automatic 20% gratuity for our party of 4 adults and 2 children. I understand restaurants may have gratuity policies for certain party sizes, but considering the wait and level of service we experienced, it was disappointing. Our first visit was much better, which is why we returned. Unfortunately, this visit did not live up to that first experience. Hopefully they improve their seating process, speed and consistency of service, and cleanliness.
