Warm cookies delivered to my door!
    Beth B.

I first saw an advertisement for Tiff's Treats on Facebook. The offer was for a free dozen WARM cookies, delivered to your door. You just had to pay the shipping fee and tip. I could not resist and signed up right away. You were able to pick the exact date and half hour window that you want your cookies to be delivered. At exactly 11 am, my doorbell rang. A friendly delivery guy was there, holding a cute bag of warm cookie goodness. The cookies were nicely wrapped in a box and packaged in layers, with tissue paper placed between the layers. The cookie flavors included in my box were: chocolate chip, chocolate chocolate chip, M&M, oatmeal raisin, and snickerdoodle. All were fantastic! This would make a great gift for anyone you're wanting to impress! I will definitely order from Tiff's Treats again!

With that said there are regular bakery options too, but you can not go wrong either way because many of the gf options look and taste better than the other bakery options. I got the peach cobbler cupcake, which was almost $7, and for that price I was definitely expecting more. The texture was honestly so strange. The outside was dry and crumbly, while the inside had this really dense, gummy/doughy texture. Somehow it was dry and doughy at the same time. There were actual pieces of peach in it, but I could barely taste any peach flavor. Overall, it just didn't have much flavor at all. I'm not sure if it was specifically the flavor I chose or if it's because I'm not really used to vegan baked goods. I can definitely appreciate that they offer options for people who are vegan, have allergies, or have certain dietary restrictions and still want to satisfy their sweet tooth. But for me personally, the taste and quality just didn't justify paying almost $7 for one cupcake. The customer service didn't really help the experience either. Since it was my first time, I asked the girl at the front what their best sellers were and what she recommended. I was genuinely trying to make conversation and get some guidance on what I should try, but she wasn't very helpful or engaging. It honestly felt like I was talking to a wall. Overall, it's a cute spot and I appreciate what they offer for people with dietary restrictions, but between the price, texture, lack of flavor, and customer service, it just wasn't for me.

I love that they let you sample as many as you'd like before deciding! Service was quick, but we never felt rushed while trying flavors and figuring out what we wanted. We shared a Double Dough and Darkest Chocolate together in a fresh waffle cone and it was so, so good. Did not get a picture because we ate it so fast! It was 8pm and there was a line but I feel like it moved pretty quick. There was a line last time too. I got a scoop of the Gooey Butter Cake and a scoop of the Brambleberry Crisp in a waffle bowl. My friend got 2 scoops of the Gooey Butter Cake in a waffle bowl and also purchased 2 boxes of the single serving Gooey Butter Cake to take home. Those 12 packs are pretty expensive. I think our total for everything was between $80-90! Highly recommend the two flavors I got though if you come try this place. You won't be disappointed.

I considered several options in Phoenix area to review, but I decided to go with the iconic Sugar Bowl in Old Town Scottsdale. It's been in business since the 1950's and has been a staple for 7 decades in Old Town. The inside is 1890's decor of pink & white wallpaper/decor like an old fashioned ice cream parlor. They have a bar area and standard seating. I remember I first went here when I was in high school in late 90's/early 2000's. Ice cream was always top notch. I used to get the Buster Brownie, which was this big brownie sundae with vanilla ice cream, goeey marshmallow topping, whipped cream, & cherry on top. It was awesome! I loved that way back then. I got lunch there once or twice; pretty good sandwiches, but the real highlight is the ice cream. My most recent visit was in Jan. 2022 with my dad. We decided to pop in for ice cream. It was as delicious as I remembered.

The old pink diner set up is everything my parents experienced in their childhood. There is even a little arcade with rides in the back. I stopped in just for ice cream. They offered me a seat at the counter with some water while I chose my flavor. This turned into looking at a menu and ordering a lunch. However, ice cream first. I mean it was 104° outside. I had pecan ice cream and it hit the spot. I ordered a turkey BLT and it was really good. I brought it back to my hotel and nibbled on it for the next two days. I was shocked the bread was still decent. The lettuce bacon and turkey all held up as well. It looked just as fresh. I will definitely stop here again.

The staff didn't make excuses. They owned it immediately, were incredibly genuine, attentive, and went above and beyond to turn things around. By the end of the meal, not only were we glad we stayed, but it became one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had in a long time. The biggest reason for that was our waiter, Cru. Absolute professional. Personable, attentive, thoughtful, and somehow managed to make us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant despite how busy things were. Great service is easy when everything runs perfectly, but it's worth acknowledging that what Cru did was much harder. He completely changed the energy of the night through pure hospitality and effort. On top of that, his recommendations for food were spot on and exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding, atmosphere was great, but the way the team handled adversity and recovered is what deserves recognition. Mistakes happen anywhere. The response is what matters, and this restaurant absolutely delivered. Cru deserves all the credit in the world. As well as the entire staff and management. I will be back, without a doubt.
