I ordered a ham & cheese croissant which was fine. I also ordered a latte. I took one sip and had to spit it out. It was SO HOT it burned my lips and tongue. This is NOT how to make espresso and it's a good way to injure your customers. I put additional cream in it to make it a normal temperature. Took one more sip and tossed it. Worst tasting espresso drink I've ever paid money for. And I'm 63. Go for the food. Stay away from the coffee. read more

Don't waste your money here, the only great thing about it is the view. I ordered an egg sandwich from the display case, thinking a fresh one would be made from scratch. Unfortunately not, the one from the display was microwaved beyond repair. Stayed at the Monterey Plaza so gave this place a try and we weren't disappointed. Got a blueberry muffin that wasn't an afterthought pastry like at so many coffee shops. It was moist, buttery and full of blueberries. An iced oat milk latte is my go-to so that's what I ordered here and it was fantastic. My husband got the white chocolate macadamia cookie and said it was delicious. There was only one woman working at opening and we saw there was a line but it moved quickly and she was still warm and friendly, despite being slammed. The shop was cute and clean. read more

Super modern, I loved the clean cut, nordic maritime design, especially the lamps. I like to pay attention at small details and while in line waiting for my coffee I admired that design you can breathe in every object. Also nice touch the mini succulents in each table. We had a couple coffees that were delicious and the cinnamon bun and bear claw were great, they heat it up and it's awesome.

We recently had breakfast at the café and except for the stunning views of the ocean, nothing else was good. The menu is incredibly simple but super expensive and the quality was just bad! The service was good although it was just a couple of people trying their best to get everything done on time. The space is nicely set up with a beautiful fireplace and cozy furniture. If I'm paying over $100 for a couple of pancakes for kids, a basic 2 egg breakfast (toast is an extra $4), and a wrap, I expect good quality and perfectly cooked everything. But it was sadly lacking and we will not be going back for breakfast again! read more

This is a great coffee shop with average coffee. I got the Steinbeck Roast and it was, at the start, not good. But I got a large and it got better, but nothing to write home about. But their baked goods and location are great. I got the gluten free coffee cake muffin. Moist with a tasty crumb topping and it was still warm! read more

While staying at the Monterey Plaza Hotel during our move to Seattle, we grabbed breakfast downstairs at Tidal Coffee, and it exceeded expectations! Definitely try the almond croissant - it was better than any version I had in San Diego for the past two years. There are some options for hot food as well, but pastries really shine here especially when downing it with their good coffee. Tidal coffee is good. I was in a rush to get a snack for my wife before a wedding so I called ahead to find out what they offered. The woman who took my call treated me like I was prank calling her, and told me they have snacks. That's it. If I had more time I would have gone somewhere else as a result. In person they were great, very helpful and kind. I got their nitro cold brew (again, in a rush), and it was more flavorful than I expected. They also have a great selection of snacks: yogurt, croissants, muffins, sandwiches. I just wish they would have told me that in the phone. Is there a Monterey coffee house in a better location then this one? I think not! Having a great location is big plus, but you still must have hot excellent tasting coffee, they do! They forgot to even make the burrito for us and we had to remind them. The burrito was soggy and did not taste great. The scone was ok. Amazing! My husband and I tried this shop while on holiday recently and it was better than Starbucks. We each ordered cold brew, he ordered caramel while I ordered almond. It was beyond delicious. They have creamer out to help yourself along with sugar and sweeteners. When you are done getting your coffee you can step out and enjoy an amazing view of monterey Bay. I spent a couple of hours at Tidal Cafe reading and just relaxing. The coffee was great and the staff is super friendly. I had the fruit container and turkey and cheese sandwich, both of which were really fresh. There were plenty of seating inside and outside and it never got very busy though there was a steady flow of customers. Just a couple of things to note. There are plenty parking spaces but it's metered and the parking enforcement officer is aggressively enforcing expired meters. Also, the restroom is located at a hotel across that court yard. It's not very far but if it's a rainy day, you may get wet. Other than that, this place is a "go to" coffee spot for us when in Monterey or the Cannery Row area. read more

This spot was definitely in a great location, has a great view of the ocean and it was beautiful in the morning! I was pretty disappointed with my veggie breakfast burrito, literally a brick of egg two potatoes and hard cheese.. I know they changed the name so I came to see how it changed. It seems the same. They've added two seaters to face the window looking outward, whereas before, they had limited seating indoors with clunky options that made it hard to read or do work. There are lots of seating options inside now. Other than that, it's about the same with decent food options, a few sweets, and well-made tea and coffee drinks. What makes this good is the outdoor seating on the patio by the dolphin fountain. Great place to get work done. read more

Here's the RunDown... Half the time small coffee shops are full of hipsters and you're left feeling dumb or inadequate. These ladies made you feel right at home! You're the customer and you're important. The selection of drink options was small but to the point. They don't have the selection of flavoring on the board but you can spot what they have next to their blenders or just ask the ladies. The pastries are also a small choice but I can see why, they have other breakfast options like breakfast burritos!!! Mmmmm.. lol. Among oatmeal and other options. I chose a cinnamon roll for my wife. The thing looks amazing!! For our drinks I got the nitro cold brew. They give you the option for traditional or put in a bigger cup with ice. If you're gonna drink nitro cold brew always go "original". The wife got an iced latte with white mocha. Again.. it doesn't show it on the menu board just "flavored syrups" so don't be afraid to ask which kind to add to your drink. My drink was sooo good!! The wife is usually picky about her lattes but she said it tasted very good! From her that's a HUGE WIN!!! In Closing- So after my looooong story, if you want to take in a beautiful view and follow it up with some great customer service and the amazing coffee that comes with it!!
